Speed Baccarat is a live dealer version of baccarat that deals cards face up to cut each round to about 27 seconds, against roughly 48 seconds at a standard Evolution table. The rules, payouts and house edge are unchanged, but nearly twice as many rounds an hour means nearly twice the expected cost. Here is what that means in pounds, checked 20 October 2026.
Speed Baccarat uses standard punto banco rules and payouts; only the pace changes.
Evolution quotes about 27 seconds per round, against about 48 seconds for a standard live baccarat round.
At £10 a round on Banker, the expected cost rises from about £8 an hour to about £14 if you bet every round.
Cutting your stake, or sitting out rounds, keeps the hourly cost in line with a slower table.

What Speed Baccarat is
Speed Baccarat is a live casino table, best known from Evolution’s studios, that keeps the full rules of punto banco but strips time out of every round. The main change is how the cards appear. At a classic table the cards are often dealt face down and turned over with some ceremony; at a Speed table they are dealt face up straight away. Evolution, the live casino studio (opens in a new tab) behind the format, puts a Speed round at about 27 seconds, compared with about 48 seconds for a standard live round.
Because nothing else changes, everything you know about baccarat rules still applies: the same card values, the same naturals, the same third-card tableau and the same payouts. The difference that matters is not about winning or losing a particular hand. It is about how many hands, and how much money, pass through your session in a given time. The broader online baccarat UK guide covers the other formats, and our games hub lists every table game we explain.
How Speed Baccarat cuts the round to 27 seconds
A live round has three parts: the betting window, the deal and settlement. Speed Baccarat shortens the middle part most. With cards dealt face up there is no pause for a reveal, so the outcome is clear as soon as the last card lands. The overall cycle is also tighter, so the next betting window opens sooner.

The rounds-per-hour row is simple arithmetic: 3,600 seconds divided by the round length. Real tables vary with network delays and the studio, so treat it as a ceiling rather than a promise. Evolution also lists a Super Speed Baccarat table; check its help screen for its own timing.
A Speed Baccarat round, step by step
Open the live casino lobby at a UK-licensed casino and pick a Speed Baccarat table whose limits suit your budget.
Read the help screen for commission, Tie payout, side bets and the stated RTP.
When the short betting timer starts, select a chip and place it on Player, Banker or Tie, plus any side bet you want.
The dealer deals two cards face up to Player and two to Banker; naturals end the round at once.
Any third cards are dealt under the standard rules, still face up.
Winning bets are paid automatically and the next timer starts within seconds.
Check the net position display after a set number of rounds and decide whether to continue.
Speed Baccarat bets, payouts and house edge
Speed tables use the standard eight-deck figures published in the Wizard of Odds baccarat odds tables (opens in a new tab). The help screen shows the live RTP for each bet, so use that if it differs.

These are long-run averages. Over a short session your result can be well above or well below them, which is why baccarat is best treated as paid entertainment rather than a way to make money. Our house edge and RTP guides explain how the two figures relate.
Speed Baccarat cost per hour: the numbers in pounds
Expected cost per hour equals stake × rounds per hour × house edge. Because Speed Baccarat roughly doubles the rounds, it roughly doubles the expected cost at the same stake, even though the odds of each hand are the same.

Total money staked moves even faster in your head than on paper. At £10 a round, a Speed table turns over about £1,330 an hour against about £750 at a standard one. Large turnover means larger swings, so a session can drop by far more than the expected figure before it recovers, or without recovering at all.
Matching your stake to the faster pace
If you enjoy the pace of Speed Baccarat but want to keep your hourly cost where it was at a slower table, scale your stake by the ratio of the round lengths: 27 ÷ 48 is about 0.56.
£10 a round at a standard table is roughly equivalent to £5.60 a round at a Speed table.
£5 a round at a standard table is roughly equivalent to £2.80 a round at Speed pace.
Alternatively, keep your usual stake but only bet on every other round; nothing obliges you to play every hand.
Either approach keeps the expected cost similar. A fixed budget and a time limit decided before you start work better than any adjustment made mid-session. Our gambling budget guide and bankroll definition explain how to plan one.

UK rules that apply to Speed Baccarat
Since 17 January 2025 the Gambling Commission has applied its game design rules to online casino games beyond slots, including a 5-second minimum game cycle for non-slot games, a ban on autoplay and a requirement to show net position and elapsed time. These rules are set out in the Commission’s speed of play decision (opens in a new tab). A 27-second live round is well above the 5-second floor, so the rule is felt mainly on RNG tables, but the session display and the ban on automatic betting apply across the board.
Other protections matter more at a fast table. Casinos must prompt you to set a financial limit before your first deposit (since 31 October 2025), and decreases take effect immediately. You can also use time-outs and deposit limit rules to keep play within plan. Our table game speed rules page has the full background.
Speed Baccarat myths and fast-play systems
“More rounds means more chances to win”
More rounds also means more chances to lose, and the house edge applies to each one. Over time, extra rounds increase the expected loss rather than the expected win.
“Fast tables are looser”
The cards come from the same kind of shoe under the same rules. Pace has no effect on the probability of any outcome.
“Doubling after a loss works better when rounds are quick”
Progressions such as the Martingale system just reach the table maximum or your budget limit sooner. The gambler’s fallacy explains why a run of Player wins doesn’t make Banker due.

Frequently asked questions
What is Speed Baccarat?
Speed Baccarat is a live dealer baccarat table that deals cards face up to shorten each round. Evolution puts a Speed round at about 27 seconds, compared with about 48 seconds for a standard live round. The rules are standard punto banco: card values, naturals, third-card rules and payouts are all the same as a normal table. The difference is the number of rounds you can play in an hour, which affects your expected cost. Our baccarat rules page explains the game itself, and online baccarat UK covers the other formats.
Are Speed Baccarat odds different from normal baccarat?
No. The odds of Banker, Player and Tie are the same as standard baccarat because the shoe, drawing rules and payouts are unchanged. On eight decks, Banker has a house edge of about 1.06% after 5% commission, Player about 1.24% and Tie at 8:1 about 14.36%. What changes is pace: more rounds per hour means more money staked and a higher expected cost per hour at the same stake. Check the help screen for the exact RTP on your table. See our house edge explainer for how these figures work.
How long does a Speed Baccarat round take?
About 27 seconds, according to Evolution, which supplies Speed Baccarat to many UK casinos. A standard live baccarat round takes about 48 seconds by the same source. If you bet on every round, that works out at roughly 133 rounds an hour at a Speed table against about 75 at a standard one, although network delays and studio conditions can vary it. Evolution also runs a Super Speed Baccarat table with its own timing. Our live casino page explains how live studio games are run.
Is Speed Baccarat more expensive to play?
Per round, no; per hour, usually yes. Each round has the same house edge, but because nearly twice as many rounds fit into an hour, the expected hourly cost roughly doubles at the same stake. Betting £10 on Banker every round costs about £14.10 an hour on average at Speed pace, against about £7.95 at a standard table. You can keep costs level by lowering your stake or skipping rounds. Our guides to casino bankroll basics and setting a gambling budget help with planning.
Can I play Speed Baccarat on my phone?
Usually, yes. Live dealer tables are built to stream on mobile browsers and casino apps, and Speed Baccarat works the same way. The short betting window is worth keeping in mind on a phone, as a slow connection can mean a bet isn’t accepted in time; if that happens the round runs without your bet. Wi-Fi or a strong mobile signal helps. Our mobile casino guide and the page on what happens if you lose connection mid-game explain how interrupted rounds are handled.
Does the UK 5-second rule apply to Speed Baccarat?
The rule applies to non-slot online casino games from 17 January 2025, requiring at least 5 seconds from the start of one game cycle to the start of the next. A Speed Baccarat round of about 27 seconds is far longer than that, so the minimum doesn’t slow it down in practice. The same package of rules also bans autoplay and requires the game to show your net position and session time, and those features do apply. Our table game speed rules page sets out the details and dates.
What is the best bet in Speed Baccarat?
On standard rules, Banker, with a house edge of about 1.06% after 5% commission on eight decks. Player is close behind at about 1.24%. The Tie bet costs far more at around 14.36% when it pays 8:1, and Pairs side bets around 10.4%. Choosing Banker doesn’t make a win likely in any session; it only means you lose least over the long run. At a fast table, stake size and session length matter as much as the choice of bet. The banker bet and tie bet entries have the details.
Can I use a casino bonus on Speed Baccarat?
Only if the bonus terms allow it. Many UK bonuses exclude live baccarat or count it at a low percentage towards wagering because of its low house edge. Since 19 January 2026, wagering is capped at 10x, but a low game contribution still means much more play to clear the bonus. Some bonuses also set a maximum bet, such as £5 per bet. Read the eligible games list before opting in. Our guides on game weighting and the max bet rule explain how these terms work.
How do I stop Speed Baccarat sessions running too long?
Decide your budget and a time limit before you start, and use the tools UK casinos must provide. Reality checks show how long you have been playing at intervals you choose, deposit limits cap what you can add, and time-outs block your account for a set period. The game itself shows your net position. If you find it hard to stop, the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133 is free and open 24/7. Our guides to time-outs and safer gambling tools explain each option.
Gambling can be addictive. Free, confidential help is available 24 hours a day from the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133. Get free support from GamCare or NHS gambling support, or block yourself from all UK-licensed gambling sites with GAMSTOP.
