90 ball bingo is the traditional British version of the game: each ticket holds 15 numbers from 1 to 90 across three rows, and prizes go to the first players to complete one line, two lines and then a full house. Online, numbers are drawn by a random number generator, tickets are marked automatically and every game pays three times.
A 90 ball bingo ticket has 3 rows and 9 columns, with 5 numbers in each row and 15 in total.
Each game pays three prizes in order: one line, two lines on the same ticket, then the full house.
A strip of six tickets covers all 90 numbers once, so every call marks one of your tickets, but it costs six times as much.
A single ticket needs about 85 calls on average to complete a full house; busy rooms end far sooner because many tickets compete.
Your chance of winning is your share of tickets in play; buying more raises cost as much as it raises your chances.

What 90 ball bingo is and why it is the UK standard
The game grew out of the British hall tradition and is still the format most UK bingo lobbies are built around. Its signature is the three-stage prize structure. Rather than one winner per game, each game crowns a line winner, a two-line winner and a full house winner, so a single game has three moments where the room’s tickets are checked and someone gets paid.
Online, the format is unchanged but the pace is quicker. A random number generator replaces the ball machine, games start every few minutes, and your tickets are marked for you. It is one of several variants covered in our online bingo UK guide, and it sits alongside the casino titles in our casino games hub.
The 90 ball bingo ticket: rows, columns and number ranges
Every ticket follows the same structure, which is why experienced players can scan one in a second. There are three horizontal rows and nine vertical columns. Each row contains exactly five numbers and four blank squares, giving 15 numbers per ticket. Each column holds numbers from one band of ten.

Numbers in each column are sorted from top to bottom. On a standard ticket a column holds one, two or three numbers. The uneven first and last columns (9 and 11 numbers) are a quirk of fitting 90 numbers into nine bands.
Strips of six: what they are and what they change
Many online rooms sell 90 ball tickets in strips of six. A strip is built so that each number from 1 to 90 appears exactly once across the six tickets. That means every number called marks a square somewhere on your strip, which keeps the game busy on screen.
What a strip does not do is improve value. Six tickets cost six times one ticket and give six times one ticket’s chance, so the average return per pound is identical. A strip also guarantees that you cannot have two near-complete tickets that share the same missing number, which spreads your chances evenly across the game. Many rooms let you buy single tickets as well as strips; compare the ticket price shown in the room before buying.
How a 90 ball bingo game plays out online, step by step
Pick a room and check the ticket price, prize for each stage, number of players and start time in the room info.
Buy single tickets or strips before the countdown ends; the sale closes when the game starts.
Numbers are called one at a time and auto-daub marks them on your tickets, with your closest tickets sorted to the top.
The first ticket to complete any one row wins the one-line prize; ties on the same call share it equally.
Play continues to two lines: two complete rows on the same ticket, not one row on each of two tickets.
Play continues to the full house: all 15 numbers on one ticket. The game ends when the full house is won.
Prizes are added to your balance automatically. Jackpot rooms may pay an extra amount if the full house falls within a set number of calls.
90 ball bingo odds: how many calls a full house takes
For one ticket in isolation, the maths is simple: 15 specific numbers must all be drawn from 90. On average, a single ticket completes on about the 85th call. The table shows how unlikely an early full house is for any one ticket.

Busy rooms end long before call 85 because hundreds of tickets are racing, and the first to finish wins. That same fact explains why early-call jackpots are rare. If a room promises an extra prize for a full house within, say, 50 calls, each ticket has roughly a 1 in 20,000 chance of being the one to deliver it, before allowing for other tickets. The progressive jackpots guide shows how such pots build up between wins.
These figures are calculated from the draw itself and apply to any fair 90 ball game. The prize you receive also depends on the room’s pool and how many tickets share the win.
90 ball bingo prizes: how the pot is split between stages
Rooms usually split the pot so the full house gets the largest share, with smaller amounts for one and two lines. A room might, for illustration, put £2 on the line, £3 on two lines and £10 on the full house. With 200 tickets at 10p (£20 in sales) that pays out £15 in total, or 75% of sales. The same prizes with 100 tickets in play (£10 in sales) pay out more than came in for that game.
That is why the number of tickets sold matters as much as the headline prize. Fixed-prize rooms reward quieter times; percentage rooms keep a steady share whatever the turnout. Either way the operator sets its rooms to profit across a day, so long-run play costs money. The house edge guide explains the casino equivalent, and our expected value entry shows how to price a ticket.
Traditional 90 ball bingo calls you may still see online
Many online rooms keep the hall tradition of nicknames for numbers, either in the chat or alongside the automated caller. A few of the best known:
1: Kelly’s eye
11: Legs eleven
21: Key of the door
22: Two little ducks
88: Two fat ladies
90: Top of the shop
Chat hosts often run small chat games between calls, sometimes with bonus prizes. Those prizes have their own terms, and under the 10x wagering cap any bonus funds can carry no more than 10x wagering since 19 January 2026.
UK rules that apply to 90 ball bingo sites
Operators need a Gambling Commission licence covering remote bingo. You must be verified as 18 or over before playing, including in rooms with no ticket price, and credit cards can’t be used to pay. Since 31 October 2025 you must be prompted to set a financial limit before your first deposit, as explained in the Commission’s note that new deposit limit rules provide clarity for consumers (opens in a new tab).
Bingo is excluded from the five-second minimum game cycle that has applied to other non-slot casino games since 17 January 2025, as the Commission’s speed of play decision (opens in a new tab) sets out, so game speed is set by the room. Since 19 January 2026, offers can’t combine bingo with casino or betting; see the mixed-product promotions ban. The deposit limit rules page covers how limits must work, including immediate decreases.
Popular tactics in 90 ball bingo that don’t change the odds
Popular 90 ball bingo tactics and what they really do

Pick tickets with numbers spread across columns
Every ticket has 15 numbers and the same chance; layout is irrelevant.
Avoid numbers that came up last game
Each game is a fresh draw from all 90 balls.
Buy extra tickets when you are close to a win
Ticket sales close when the game starts, and extra tickets later cost more without improving value.

Wait for a jackpot that is overdue
Jackpot chances are the same every game, however long since the last win.
The only levers that change value are ticket price, prize size and the number of tickets in play. Our gambling myths guide covers more beliefs that cost players money.
A 90 ball bingo budget: a worked evening example
Say you play 20 games in an evening and buy one 10p strip (60p) per game. That is £12 of tickets. If the rooms pay out 70% of sales on average, the expected cost is about £3.60, but you could win nothing or collect several line prizes. Doubling to two strips per game doubles the cost to £24 and the expected cost to £7.20, while your share of each prize pool roughly doubles too.
Decide the evening’s figure before you start, set a deposit limit to match, and leave when it is spent. If bingo is costing more than you planned, the free gambling support page lists who can help.

Frequently asked questions
How many numbers are on a 90 ball bingo ticket?
A 90 ball bingo ticket has 15 numbers. They sit in three rows of five, with four blank squares in each row, across nine columns that each cover a band of numbers: 1 to 9, 10 to 19, and so on up to 80 to 90. Numbers in a column are sorted top to bottom. A full house means all 15 are marked. Our online bingo UK guide compares this ticket with those used in other variants.
What are the three prizes in 90 ball bingo?
The three prizes are one line, two lines and the full house. One line goes to the first ticket with any complete horizontal row. Two lines needs two complete rows on the same ticket. The full house goes to the first ticket with all 15 numbers marked, which ends the game. If players finish on the same call, the prize is split equally. Rooms set how the pot is divided between stages, shown in the room information before you buy tickets.
How many calls does it take to win 90 ball bingo?
That depends on how many tickets are in play. A single ticket on its own needs about 85 calls on average to complete a full house, and the chance it finishes by call 70 is only about 1.6%. In a busy room, hundreds of tickets race each other, so the first full house usually arrives much earlier. Lines go quickest. The house edge guide explains why the number of players matters for value as well as speed.
Is it better to buy a strip of six tickets?
A strip of six gives you every number from 1 to 90 once, so each call marks one of your tickets, but it does not improve value. You pay six times the single-ticket price for six times the chance, so the average return per pound is the same. Strips suit players who like constant action; single tickets suit tighter budgets. Neither changes the odds per ticket. Our bankroll basics guide helps decide how much to spend per game.
What does 1TG mean in 90 ball bingo?
1TG means one to go: your best ticket needs just one more number to win the current stage, whether that is a line, two lines or the full house. 2TG means two to go, and so on. Online rooms sort tickets so your nearest one is shown first and often highlight the number you need. Being 1TG does not make your number more likely next; every remaining ball has the same chance. The gambler’s fallacy guide explains why.
Can two people win the same 90 ball bingo prize?
Yes. If two or more tickets complete the same stage on the same number, the prize is shared equally between them. If you hold two winning tickets on that call, you receive a share for each. This is common in busy rooms, particularly for the one-line prize, which is why the actual amount paid can be lower than the advertised prize. Some rooms state a minimum share in their rules. The room information panel explains how ties are handled at that site.
What is a 90 ball bingo jackpot?
A jackpot is an extra prize paid if the full house lands within a set number of calls, or a progressive pot that grows until someone triggers it. Because a single ticket has only about a 1 in 20,000 chance of being complete by call 50, early-call jackpots are rarely won, which is how they can be large. Read the jackpot conditions, including whether you need a minimum number of tickets. Our progressive jackpots guide covers how pots build.
Is 90 ball bingo better than 75 ball bingo?
Neither is better; they suit different tastes. The 90 ball game pays three prizes per game on a 15-number ticket and runs longer, which spreads wins across more players. 75 ball bingo uses a 5 × 5 grid with patterns that change from game to game and tends to be quicker. Value depends on ticket price, prizes and the number of players, not the variant itself. Our 75 ball bingo guide explains how pattern games work.
Are 90 ball bingo games online fair?
At UK-licensed sites, yes. Numbers are drawn by a random number generator that must be tested, and the operator must publish the room’s rules and prizes. The site earns money from its share of ticket sales rather than from influencing the draw. Unlicensed sites outside UK regulation carry no such protection. Check any bingo site on the Gambling Commission register before you deposit, using the steps in our guide to checking a casino licence.
Can I play 90 ball bingo on my phone?
Yes. UK bingo sites run 90 ball rooms in mobile browsers and, in many cases, in apps from the App Store and Google Play, with auto-daub doing the marking for you. Ticket purchase, prizes and safer gambling tools work the same as on a computer. Mobile play makes it easy to join games throughout the day, so set a deposit limit and reality check. Our mobile casino guide covers apps versus browser play.
