Evolution casino games

Evolution casino games dominate most UK live casino lobbies: dealer-run roulette, blackjack and baccarat, plus game shows such as Crazy Time and Monopoly Live. The Stockholm-listed group also owns NetEnt, Red Tiger, Big Time Gaming and Nolimit City. This page explains how its live games work, what the RNG multipliers do to the odds, its UK licence and the £4.75m settlement of July 2026.

Key takeaways

  • Evolution was founded in 2006 and is listed on Nasdaq Stockholm; its GB licensee is Evolution Malta Holding Limited (account 41655).
  • On 23 July 2026 it agreed a £4.75m settlement after its games appeared on six unlicensed sites accessible in Great Britain.
  • Lightning games add random multipliers but lower the standard payout, for example 29:1 instead of 35:1 on a straight-up roulette bet.
  • The £5 and £2 stake limits apply to slots only; live tables use the casino’s own table limits.

Evolution casino games: the live casino group in brief

Evolution was founded in 2006 by Jens von Bahr and Fredrik Österberg and is headquartered in Stockholm, where its shares trade on Nasdaq Stockholm. It began as a live dealer specialist, streaming real tables from studios to online casinos, and has since become a group that also owns several of the best-known slot studios. Its own website, evolution.com (opens in a new tab), describes the full product range.

For a UK player, Evolution matters most in the live section. Its tables and game shows appear in a large share of British live lobbies, often alongside games from its second live brand, Ezugi. Our live casino guide explains the category, and our providers hub gathers the other studios covered on this site.

Evolution’s brands: live studios and slot studios

In recent years Evolution has bought several slot developers. Each keeps its own name and style, so you will usually see them listed separately in a lobby’s provider filter.

How Evolution live dealer games work

A live table is a real dealer with real cards, wheels or dice, filmed in a studio and streamed to your screen. You bet through an on-screen interface; cameras and recognition software read the result and settle bets automatically. The dealer can see the chat but not you. Our answer to whether live dealers are real covers the technology in more detail.

  1. The betting window opens and a countdown timer runs.
  2. You place chips on the interface within the table’s minimum and maximum limits.
  3. Betting closes; the dealer spins, deals or rolls.
  4. Any RNG feature, such as Lightning multipliers, is revealed before or during the round.
  5. The result is read automatically and winnings are added to your balance.
  6. The next round opens after a short pause.

Because a real dealer runs each round, the pace is set by the table rather than by you, and there is no autoplay. Table limits vary by game and casino; our table limits guide explains how they are set.

Lightning Roulette and Evolution’s RNG multiplier idea

Lightning Roulette is a single-zero European table with a twist: each round, a random number generator strikes between one and five ‘lucky numbers’ with multipliers from 50x to 500x. A straight-up bet on a lucky number that wins pays the multiplier instead of the normal amount. To fund those multipliers, an ordinary straight-up win pays 29 to 1 instead of the standard 35 to 1. The published RTP is 97.30%, the same as standard European roulette.

A worked example on a £1 straight-up bet

Lightning Roulette vs standard European roulette: £1 on number 17
OutcomeLightning Roulette returnStandard roulette return
17 wins, not a lucky number£30 (29:1 plus stake)£36 (35:1 plus stake)
17 wins with a 200x multiplier£201 (200:1 plus stake)£36
Any other number£0£0

So Lightning moves value from the common win to the rare multiplied one: the same average cost, but a swingier result. The idea now runs through a family of games including Lightning Blackjack, Lightning Dice and XXXtreme Lightning Roulette. No betting system changes the edge.

Evolution game shows: Crazy Time, Monopoly Live and more

Game shows are wheel or ball-draw games with a presenter, bonus rounds and random multipliers. They are built for entertainment value, and their RTPs are generally lower than those of the main table games, with a separate figure for each bet spot. Our live game shows guide compares the format with traditional tables.

The two biggest have their own pages: Crazy Time and Monopoly Live. If you are choosing between the two biggest, our Crazy Time vs Monopoly Live comparison sets them side by side.

Evolution’s UK licence and the July 2026 settlement

Evolution’s British licensee is Evolution Malta Holding Limited, account number 41655, registered in St Julian’s, Malta. The Commission’s register shows active remote licences for gambling software and casino game hosting, and lists one regulatory action. You can check it on the Commission’s register of businesses (opens in a new tab).

That action is the settlement announced on 23 July 2026. Evolution Malta Holding Limited agreed to pay £4.75 million after the Commission found its games had appeared on six unlicensed websites accessible to consumers in Great Britain. According to the Commission’s statement on the Evolution settlement (opens in a new tab), the failings were in assessing money laundering and terrorist financing risk, in controls to keep its games out of the GB market via unlicensed operators, and in customer due diligence. The Commission said the failings were serious enough for it to consider suspending the licence, and noted that Evolution acted quickly once the issues were identified.

The lesson for players is the one behind the case: a familiar game is not proof that a site is licensed. Before you deposit anywhere, check the casino’s own licence; our guide to offshore casinos explains the risks of unlicensed sites.

First Person games: Evolution’s RNG versions

Evolution also makes First Person games: computer-generated versions of its live tables and game shows, using a random number generator instead of a dealer. They let you play at your own pace, with the option to switch to the live version. Our First Person games page explains the range, and live vs RNG games compares the two formats.

Because they are RNG casino games other than slots, they fall under the Commission’s rules for non-slot games in force since 17 January 2025, including a minimum game cycle of 5 seconds and no autoplay, as set out in the speed of play decision (opens in a new tab).

UK rules that apply to Evolution casino games

  • The £5 (25+) and £2 (18–24) stake limits apply to online slots only. Live tables and game shows use the casino’s own table limits, which can be higher.
  • Non-slot RNG games, such as First Person titles, must take at least 5 seconds per game cycle (since 17 January 2025).
  • Autoplay is not permitted on online casino games in Great Britain.
  • Your net position and session time are displayed on RNG games, and safer gambling tools apply to every game in your account.
  • Credit cards can’t be used to fund play (since 14 April 2020).

Since live tables have no statutory per-bet cap, a personal limit matters more. A deposit limit set before you play, or a loss limit where the casino offers one, keeps a session within budget; our guide to setting deposit limits shows how.

Live casino myths, and what actually decides the odds

  • ‘The dealer can influence the result.’ Results come from physical equipment read automatically, and the house edge is built into the payouts, not the dealer.
  • ‘Lightning multipliers make the game better value.’ They are paid for by lower standard payouts; the RTP of Lightning Roulette equals standard European roulette.
  • ‘Watching patterns on the results board helps.’ Each spin is independent; see our guide to the gambler’s fallacy.
  • ‘Game shows have the best odds because the prizes are big.’ Their RTPs are typically lower than core table games, and vary by bet spot.

How to find Evolution casino games in a UK live lobby

  1. Log in and open the Live Casino section rather than the slots lobby.
  2. Filter by provider and choose Evolution (Ezugi tables may be listed separately).
  3. Pick a category: roulette, blackjack, baccarat or game shows.
  4. Before betting, open the game’s help or information panel to check the rules, payouts and published RTP for each bet.
  5. Note the table’s minimum and maximum limits and set your own budget below them.
  6. Turn on a reality check so you see how long you have been playing.

Where to play Evolution casino games: our licensed partners

Our partners are five UKGC-licensed casinos, with offers last checked on 5 October 2026. All three below are slot welcome offers: live casino play does not count towards them, so take them only if you also want to play slots.

  • Coral (18+, new players): the offer window is 1 October 2026 to 1 February 2027. A £10 slots bet after depositing unlocks 100 free spins, each worth 10p, on chosen slot games. You get 48 hours to accept and 7 days to play them, and their winnings are wagering-free. Deposits through Neteller, PayPal, Paysafe, Skrill, prepaid cards and certain debit cards are not eligible.
  • Ladbrokes (18+, new customers): £10 of slot play earns 50 free spins on each of your first 10 days, so up to 500 in total, every spin 10p on selected slots. Each daily batch must be claimed before 23:59 and played within 7 days, with no wagering attached. Funding by prepaid card, PayPal, Paysafe, Neteller, Skrill or Moneybookers rules you out.
  • PlayOJO (18+): available to new UK customers apart from those in Northern Ireland, it pairs a first deposit of at least £10 with 80 spins on the Big Bass Bonanza slot, valued at 10p each; there is no wagering and any winnings are cash.

Coral and Ladbrokes share an operator, LC International Limited. Our page on Coral’s live casino describes one partner’s live lobby. Live games carry a house edge like any other; if play stops feeling affordable, call the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133.

Frequently asked questions

Is Evolution licensed in the UK?

Yes. Evolution Malta Holding Limited holds Gambling Commission account 41655 with active remote licences for gambling software and casino game hosting. The register also lists one regulatory action, the £4.75 million settlement announced on 23 July 2026. You can view the entry by searching the account number on the Commission’s public register. A supplier’s licence sits alongside the casino’s own licence, which you should also check using our licence-checking guide.

Why was Evolution fined £4.75 million?

The Commission found that Evolution’s games had appeared on six unlicensed websites accessible to people in Great Britain, with high UK traffic between December 2023 and November 2024. It identified failings in assessing money laundering and terrorist financing risk, in controls to keep its games away from unlicensed operators serving Britain, and in customer due diligence. The Commission considered suspending the licence but noted Evolution acted quickly. Our page on Gambling Commission fines explains how settlements work.

Are Evolution live dealer games rigged?

No evidence suggests so, and the design makes it unnecessary: the house edge is built into the payouts, so the casino doesn’t need to influence results. Results come from physical wheels, cards and dice, read automatically by cameras and software, and the games are supplied under a Gambling Commission licence. That doesn’t make them good value for players: every bet still has a built-in margin. Our answer to whether online casinos are rigged explains how fairness is regulated.

What is the RTP of Lightning Roulette?

The published RTP is 97.30%, the same as standard single-zero European roulette, so the house edge is 2.70%. The difference is how the return is distributed: straight-up wins normally pay 29 to 1 instead of 35 to 1, and that saving funds random multipliers of 50x to 500x on lucky numbers. On a £1 straight-up bet, a normal win returns £30 rather than £36. Our Lightning Roulette page has more worked examples.

Which Evolution game has the best odds?

Among Evolution’s games, standard blackjack played with correct basic strategy and the banker bet in baccarat usually offer the lowest house edges, while game shows such as Crazy Time typically return less, with RTPs that vary by bet spot. Side bets and multiplier features often carry higher edges than the main bets. Always check the information panel for the published figure. Our guide to the best odds casino games compares the main options.

Does the £5 stake limit apply to Evolution live games?

No. The £5 maximum for players aged 25 and over and the £2 maximum for 18 to 24-year-olds apply to online slots only. Live tables and game shows use table limits set by the game and the casino, which can be well above £5 per round. That makes a personal limit more important. Set a deposit limit before you play and consider a reality check. Our deposit limit rules page explains what casinos must offer.

Who owns NetEnt and Red Tiger?

Evolution does. Its slot brands are NetEnt, Red Tiger, Big Time Gaming and Nolimit City, and its live brands are Evolution and Ezugi. Each slot studio keeps its own name, style and catalogue, so they usually appear separately in a casino’s provider filter. You can read about each one on its own profile, starting with our NetEnt page, which covers games such as Starburst and Gonzo’s Quest.

What are Evolution First Person games?

They are RNG versions of Evolution’s live tables and game shows, such as roulette, blackjack and some game shows, played without a dealer and at your own pace. Many offer a button to move to the live version of the same game. In Great Britain they count as non-slot online casino games, so since 17 January 2025 each game cycle must take at least 5 seconds and autoplay is not allowed. Our First Person games page explains the range.

Can I use a casino bonus on Evolution live games?

It depends on the terms. Many welcome offers, including all three of our partners’ current offers, are slot spins that can’t be used on live tables, and deposit bonuses often give live games a low contribution towards wagering or exclude them. Wagering is capped at 10x for bonuses since 19 January 2026. Check the game list in the terms before opting in. Our live casino bonus page explains how these offers usually work.

What is Ezugi?

Ezugi is Evolution’s second live casino brand, offering dealer-run tables such as roulette, blackjack and baccarat. It is part of the same group but runs its own studios and table range, so a UK lobby may list Ezugi tables separately from Evolution’s. As with any live game, check the information panel for rules, limits and the published RTP before betting. If you are new to live tables, our guide to live dealer etiquette covers chat rules and how tables run.
