Greentube casino games

Greentube casino games are the online versions of Novomatic’s arcade and casino-floor classics, such as Book of Ra Deluxe, Lucky Lady’s Charm Deluxe and Sizzling Hot Deluxe, plus newer series like Diamond Link. This page explains how Greentube relates to Novomatic, which UK licence covers its games, why its RTPs often sit near 95%, and how to find its titles in a UK lobby.

Key takeaways

  • Greentube is Novomatic’s online games division, based in Vienna, with a UK office in Nottingham.
  • Greentube GmbH holds a remote gambling software licence from the Gambling Commission (account 41020), active since 16 March 2015.
  • Its classic Deluxe slots publish RTPs around 95.1% to 95.7%, a little below many modern video slots.
  • The £1m Admiral Casino settlement in January 2025 involved Greentube Alderney Limited, a separate consumer-facing licensee.

What Greentube casino games are

Greentube is the internet arm of the Austrian Novomatic Group. Its roots go back to 1998, it took the Greentube name in 2000, and it joined Novomatic in 2010. The company is headquartered in Vienna and has a British office in Nottingham. Its job is to take games built for Novomatic’s cabinets in arcades and casinos and supply them to online operators, alongside games designed for the web from the start.

That heritage explains the look. Book of Ra Deluxe, Dolphin’s Pearl Deluxe and Lord of the Ocean are 5×3, 10-line games with simple symbols and a single free spins feature, closer to a classic slot than to the busy grids of newer studios. Greentube’s catalogue also includes video bingo, video poker, table games and a social casino (free-to-play) business. For the parent company’s land-based story, see our Novomatic profile; the providers hub lists the rest.

In UK lobbies you will see some of these games filed under Novomatic and others under Greentube, sometimes on the same site. Both are correct: Novomatic created many of the original designs, and Greentube adapts and supplies them online. When the game’s splash screen or help page names Greentube, that is the supplier responsible for the online version.

Greentube’s UK licence and the Admiral Casino settlement

The Gambling Commission’s register lists Greentube GmbH, with a Vienna head office, under account number 41020. It holds one active remote licence, for gambling software, running since 16 March 2015. That is the licence that allows it to supply games to British casinos. You can look it up on the Commission’s public register of businesses (opens in a new tab) by name or number.

A different company in the same group, Greentube Alderney Limited, ran the consumer site Admiral Casino. On 9 January 2025 it agreed to pay £1 million after the Commission found social responsibility and anti-money laundering failures, its second regulatory action after a £685,000 payment in 2021. The Commission’s statement on the Greentube Alderney settlement (opens in a new tab) sets out the failings, which concerned checks on customers rather than the fairness of games. Our page on Gambling Commission fines explains how such settlements work.

A supplier’s licence and a casino’s licence are separate things. Even when a game comes from a licensed supplier, check the casino itself on the register using our licence-checking guide.

The Book of Ra formula: expanding symbols explained

Book of Ra Deluxe gave its name to a whole genre of ‘book’ slots. The book symbol is both wild and scatter: three or more anywhere start ten free spins. Before they begin, one ordinary symbol is picked at random to become the special symbol for the round.

During free spins, whenever enough of the special symbol land to make a win, it expands to fill each reel it appears on and pays across all ten lines, even when the reels are not next to each other. That is the only way the game produces its larger results, and why the volatility is published as very high. The idea is the same as an expanding wild, applied to a regular symbol.

A worked example

Stake £1 across 10 lines (10p per line). In free spins the explorer is chosen as the special symbol and lands on reels 1, 3 and 4. It expands to cover all three reels and pays the three-of-a-kind amount on every line, ten times over, rather than once. If only two land and the symbol needs three to pay, nothing expands. Most free spin rounds end with modest totals; the large ones need the special symbol on four or five reels.

Sizzling Hot Deluxe is the purest fruit-machine design in the list: five lines, fruit symbols, no free spins and a published 5,000x max win. If you grew up with pub machines, the feel is familiar; our fruit machines page covers that family of games.

Why Greentube RTPs sit lower, and what the gap costs

The Deluxe classics were designed when a return in the mid-90s was normal on casino floors, and the online versions keep figures close to that. Compared with a modern slot at 96.5%, a 95.1% game keeps about £1.40 more per £100 staked on average. Over a short session that is easily hidden by volatility, but it adds up with regular play.

Theoretical cost of £250 of total stakes
RTPAverage returnedAverage cost
96.50% (typical modern video slot)£241.25£8.75
95.66% (Sizzling Hot Deluxe)£239.15£10.85
95.10% (Book of Ra Deluxe)£237.75£12.25
94.26% (lower Book of Ra Deluxe version)£235.65£14.35

None of these is a prediction of a single session; they are long-run averages. Use them to compare games, not to estimate what you will win. Our RTP explainer and the house edge guide explain why the casino’s margin applies to every spin.

Greentube’s newer series move away from the book formula. Diamond Link games use a hold-and-respin feature: landing enough special symbols locks them in place and awards a set of respins, with each new special symbol resetting the count. Values on the locked symbols are added up at the end, and some games award fixed jackpot prizes on top. Our guide to hold and win features explains the maths of the respin count.

Fixed jackpots are set multiples of the stake rather than a growing pool, which makes them easier to understand than a network progressive. The fixed jackpot glossary entry covers the difference. Exact prize levels and RTPs vary by title, so read each game’s help screen.

Video bingo, video poker and table games from Greentube

Greentube’s product list goes beyond slots. Video bingo is a single-player, ball-draw game with a paytable for patterns, quite unlike the community 90-ball games described in our online bingo guide. Its video poker titles use the draw-poker format explained on our video poker page, where the paytable decides the return.

Non-slot RNG games such as video poker and table games have had to meet design rules since 17 January 2025, including a minimum game cycle of 5 seconds and no autoplay, so they move more slowly than they did before. Our table game speed rules page has the detail.

UK rules on Greentube casino games in 2026

  • Slots must take at least 2.5 seconds per spin, with no turbo or slam-stop, under the Commission’s game design changes (opens in a new tab) from 31 October 2021.
  • There is no autoplay on UK versions, which matters for classic games that once relied on it.
  • The maximum stake is £5 per spin for players aged 25 and over, and £2 for those aged 18 to 24 (stake limit rules).
  • Results equal to or below your stake must not be celebrated as wins.
  • Demo play is available only after age verification (since May 2019).

Some classic games include a gamble feature that lets you risk a win on a card guess. Where a UK version offers one, it is optional; it does not improve the game’s overall return and can lose the whole win in one click, so many players simply collect.

How to find Greentube games in a UK casino lobby

  1. Open the slots lobby and look for a provider filter.
  2. Try both Greentube and Novomatic, because sites file the same games under either name.
  3. Search for Book of Ra or Lucky Lady if neither name appears in the filter.
  4. Open the game’s paytable and confirm the RTP version, as Book of Ra Deluxe has more than one.
  5. Check the stake per spin, remembering that the 10-line games divide it across lines.
  6. Set a deposit limit before you start; the safer gambling menu in your account has the tools.

Frequently asked questions

Is Greentube the same as Novomatic?

Not quite. Greentube is part of the Novomatic Group, which it joined in 2010, and acts as the group’s online games business. Novomatic designed many of the original cabinet games, such as Book of Ra and Lucky Lady’s Charm, and Greentube supplies the online versions to casinos. That is why UK lobbies sometimes list the same titles under either name. Our Novomatic profile covers the parent company and its land-based history.

Is Greentube licensed in the UK?

Yes. Greentube GmbH, based in Vienna, appears on the Gambling Commission’s register under account 41020 with an active remote gambling software licence that started on 16 March 2015. That licence lets it supply games to British operators. It also holds a Malta Gaming Authority licence. A separate company, Greentube Alderney Limited, held the licence for the Admiral Casino site. Use our guide to checking a licence to read the entry yourself.

What was the Greentube Alderney fine about?

On 9 January 2025 Greentube Alderney Limited, trading as Admiral Casino, agreed to pay £1 million after the Commission found social responsibility and anti-money laundering failures. They included not fully applying its own policy on income-based customer limits, slow escalation of vulnerability signs and delays in reviewing financial documents. It was the company’s second regulatory action, after £685,000 in 2021. The case concerned how a casino treated customers, not the fairness of Greentube’s games. Our page on Gambling Commission fines puts it in context.

What RTP does Book of Ra Deluxe have?

The published standard RTP is 95.1%, and a 94.26% version also exists, so the help screen tells you which one a casino runs. The game is rated very high volatility with a published 5,000x max win, and almost all of its larger results come from the free spins feature with its expanding special symbol. Over £250 of stakes, the gap between the two versions is about £2 on average. Our guide on how to check RTP shows where to look.

What are the best-known Greentube casino games?

Book of Ra Deluxe, Lucky Lady’s Charm Deluxe, Dolphin’s Pearl Deluxe and the Diamond Link series are the names most UK players recognise, along with Lord of the Ocean and Sizzling Hot Deluxe. Most are simple 5×3 games with 5 or 10 lines and one main feature, which makes them easy to learn but relatively swingy. If you like this style, our page on classic slots covers similar games from other studios.

Why are Greentube slot RTPs lower than some other studios?

Many of its best-known games are online versions of older cabinet designs that were built with returns in the mid-90s, and the online figures stay close to those originals, at around 95.1% to 95.7%. Many modern video slots publish about 96% to 96.7%. The difference is roughly £1 to £1.50 per £100 staked on average. That doesn’t make a game unfair, only slightly more expensive to play. Our answer to what a good RTP is explains typical ranges.

Do Greentube slots have a gamble feature in the UK?

Some classic titles include an optional gamble feature where you can risk a win on a card colour guess, but availability depends on the game version the casino runs, so check the help screen. Gambling a win doesn’t improve the game’s overall return, and one wrong guess loses the whole amount. You can always collect instead. Our gamble feature glossary entry explains how the odds work and why many players skip it.

Can I play Greentube games on my phone?

Yes, at casinos that carry them, Greentube games run in a mobile browser or inside the casino’s app, with the same RTP and rules as on desktop. The classic 5×3 layout fits a phone screen well. The same UK protections apply on mobile, including the 2.5-second minimum spin time and the stake limits. If you are choosing between a casino’s app and its mobile site, our comparison of casino apps and mobile sites sets out the differences.

Does Greentube make bingo and video poker?

Yes. Its product range includes video bingo, video poker and table games as well as slots. Video bingo is a single-player game played against a paytable, unlike community 90-ball bingo rooms. Video poker returns depend heavily on the paytable and on playing the right holds. Since 17 January 2025, non-slot RNG games must take at least 5 seconds per game cycle in Great Britain. Our video poker guide explains how paytables change the return.
