Debit card casinos UK players use most often accept Visa Debit and Debit Mastercard for deposits and send withdrawals back to the same card. Since 14 April 2020 a debit card is the only kind of card you can gamble with in Great Britain. This guide covers the steps, typical speeds, fees and the offer terms that matter, checked 20 October 2026.
Only debit cards can be used at UK-licensed casinos; credit cards have been banned since 14 April 2020.
Coral, Ladbrokes, Casumo and 10bet all list debit cards for deposits and withdrawals; PlayOJO’s methods aren’t verified, so check its cashier.
Card withdrawals usually return to the card you deposited with; published times range from a few hours (Visa Fast Funds) to a couple of business days.
Coral’s welcome offer excludes certain debit cards and prepaid cards, so read the payment terms before a qualifying deposit.

How debit card casinos in the UK handle your card
A debit card payment at an online casino moves your own money straight from your current account to your casino balance. There is no borrowing involved, which is exactly why debit cards survived when the Gambling Commission banned gambling on credit cards from 14 April 2020. Visa Debit and Debit Mastercard are the two networks you will see in almost every UK cashier, and both have their own page here: Visa at UK casinos and Mastercard at UK casinos.
Behind the scenes, the casino’s payment processor sends an authorisation request to your bank, your bank checks the balance and any security step (usually a code or an approval in your banking app), and the money appears in the casino account within seconds. Because the payment is coded as gambling, it is also the payment most easily caught by a bank gambling block if you have switched one on.
Withdrawals travel the other way. Most UK operators run a closed-loop policy, which means winnings are sent back to the card you deposited with before any other method can be used. That protects you against fraud and keeps the casino in line with anti-money-laundering rules, but it also means your choice of deposit card decides where your money comes back to. Our payments hub compares every other method if a card is not the right fit.

For a casino-by-casino breakdown, see the payment method pages for Coral, Ladbrokes, Casumo and 10bet. Coral and Ladbrokes also say UK customers can have up to three active payment methods in a rolling 30-day period, so adding a second or third card has a practical ceiling.
How to deposit with a debit card at a UK casino
The process is broadly the same everywhere, though button names differ. Before your first deposit, the casino has to verify your age and identity, and since 31 October 2025 it must also prompt you to set a financial limit (setting one is the default and opting out has to be confirmed).
Log in and open the cashier, usually labelled Deposit or Banking.
Answer the deposit-limit prompt if it appears. Choosing a monthly figure you are comfortable losing is the simplest approach.
Select Visa or Mastercard and enter the card number, expiry date and three-digit security code. The card must be in your own name.
Type the amount. Single UK deposits are capped by Coral and Ladbrokes at £2,000; Casumo’s minimum is £10 for all methods.
Approve the payment in your banking app or with the one-time code your bank sends.
Wait for the confirmation screen, then check the balance has updated before you start playing.
Withdrawing winnings to your debit card
A card withdrawal has two stages that people often merge into one. First the casino reviews and approves the request; then the payment network carries the money to your bank. The Commission has not set a maximum processing time, so the only figures worth quoting are the ones operators publish themselves.
Open the cashier and choose Withdraw.
Pick the card you deposited with. If it is greyed out, the closed-loop rule or an expired card is usually the reason.
Enter the amount and confirm. Under the reverse withdrawal ban (in force since 31 October 2021) you won’t be offered a button to cancel the request and keep playing.
Upload any documents requested promptly. The Commission says a casino can’t demand ID at this stage if it could reasonably have asked earlier.
Watch your banking app. At Coral and Ladbrokes an eligible Visa debit card shows a stopwatch logo for Fast Funds; other cards follow the standard route.
How long debit card casino withdrawals take in the UK
Speed depends on the casino’s review queue, the card network and your bank. The worked example below takes a £150 win and follows it through each partner’s published timings.
Worked example: withdrawing £150 to a debit card
Casino
Review stage (published)
Transfer stage (published)
Fee on £150
Coral
Typically a couple of hours for Fast Funds
Typically up to 4 hours with an eligible Visa debit card
None
Ladbrokes
Typically a couple of hours for Fast Funds
Typically up to 4 hours with an eligible Visa debit card
None
Casumo
Approved or denied within 3 days (policy); often hours
Up to 2 days
None (£3 applies only below £10)
10bet
Not published separately
Up to 2 business days
Not published: check the help centre
Two details change the picture. Both Entain brands say payouts over £2,000 need manual checks and will usually miss the four-hour target, and a non-eligible card (most Mastercards and some Visa cards) falls back to the general timeframe of “instantly to five banking days depending on your method”. Read more in how long casino withdrawals take and the dedicated Visa Fast Funds page.
Debit card casinos UK: fees and limits
Most UK casinos don’t charge for card deposits, and Coral and Ladbrokes state plainly in their help centres that they charge no withdrawal fees. Casumo’s withdrawal policy is the exception worth knowing: a £3 fee applies to withdrawals under £10, so cashing out £8 leaves you with £5, while £10 or more is free.
Minimum deposit: Casumo publishes £10 for every method; Coral and Ladbrokes show the card minimum in the cashier rather than in the help centre.
Maximum deposit: £2,000 per deposit for UK customers at Coral and Ladbrokes.
Bank charges: UK debit cards don’t normally add a fee for sterling gambling payments, but foreign-currency transactions can attract a conversion charge.
Your own limits: a deposit limit set in your casino account overrides everything above, and decreases take effect immediately.
Small payouts are where fees bite hardest, so it usually makes sense to let a balance build past any fee threshold before withdrawing, rather than topping up to reach it.
Debit card casino offers: which welcome bonuses accept cards
A debit card is the method least likely to be excluded from a welcome offer, but “least likely” isn’t “never”. Here is how the payment terms of our partner offers (checked 5 October 2026) treat cards. All offers are 18+ and terms apply.
Partner welcome offers and card deposits
Offer
Key terms
Card position in the terms
Coral: bet £10 on slots, get 100 free spins
10p spins on selected games, 48 hours to accept, valid 7 days, no wagering on winnings
Certain debit cards and prepaid cards don’t qualify
Ladbrokes: play £10 on slots, get up to 500 free spins
50 spins a day for 10 days at 10p, claim by 23:59 daily, valid 7 days, no wagering
Prepaid cards don’t qualify; standard debit cards aren’t listed as excluded
Casumo: 50% bonus up to £100
£20 minimum deposit, 10x bonus wagering within 7 days, £5 max bet
Payment restrictions apply: check the terms
The Coral bonus payment exclusions page lists what its terms rule out. Because Coral and Ladbrokes are both run by LC International Limited (Entain), one person may not be able to open new accounts at both, so check the terms before applying twice.
Why credit cards are banned but debit cards are allowed
The Commission announced the credit card ban on 14 January 2020 and it took effect on 14 April 2020. Its reasoning was that gambling with borrowed money adds a layer of harm, and the research it cited found that 22% of online gamblers using credit cards were problem gamblers. The ban covers all online gambling and also closes the loophole of loading an e-wallet from a credit card.
The Commission’s consumer guide to gambling using a credit card (opens in a new tab) is the official reference. It does not address overdrafts, so a debit card linked to an overdrawn account is a matter between you and your bank. If you find yourself relying on an overdraft to play, that is a strong sign to step back and set a lower limit.
Debit card declined at a casino? Common reasons
A declined card is usually one of a handful of things, and each has its own fix. Work through them in order before contacting support.
A gambling block is switched on in your banking app (Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds, Monzo, NatWest, Santander, Starling and others offer one).
The card is a credit card, or a prepaid card the casino doesn’t accept.
The card isn’t in your name; casinos only accept cards registered to the account holder.
You have hit a deposit limit you set, or the three-method limit at Coral and Ladbrokes.
Your bank’s fraud screening wants you to approve the payment in its app first.
At a UK-licensed site, yes: the casino never sees your PIN, card data is handled by regulated payment processors, and strong customer authentication means most payments need approval in your banking app. The bigger risk is playing at an unlicensed site, where none of the Commission’s withdrawal protections apply; our guide to checking a casino licence shows how to confirm a site on the public register in a couple of minutes.
Expect a few checks along the way. Since 28 February 2025 operators must run a public-record financial vulnerability check once your net deposits pass £150 in a rolling 30 days. That is a look at things like bankruptcies and county court judgments, not a credit score, and the Commission says “affordability check” is the wrong term for it. Our page on financial risk checks explains what is and isn’t live.
Debit cards compared with other casino payment methods
Advantages
Accepted by every partner that publishes its methods
Usually qualifies for welcome offers where e-wallets don’t
No account to open with a third party
Gambling blocks and bank spending tools work directly on the card
Drawbacks
Standard card withdrawals can take up to 2 business days
Some cards aren’t eligible for faster payout services
Coral excludes certain debit cards from its welcome offer
Card details are stored with the casino’s payment processor
If speed matters most, compare cards with PayPal and with Pay by Bank. Whichever you choose, treat the money you deposit as spent on entertainment: the house edge means losses are likely over time.
Best debit card casinos UK: where to play
The two Entain sites suit players who want a fast card payout, because both publish Visa Fast Funds timings and charge no withdrawal fees. Casumo publishes clear card timings and a straightforward policy on small-payout fees, and its 50% match is the only partner deposit bonus in this shortlist. Every offer below is for new customers aged 18+, and full terms apply.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use a debit card at UK online casinos?
Yes, debit cards are the most widely accepted payment method at UK-licensed casinos. Visa Debit and Debit Mastercard both work, and the card must be registered in your name. Coral, Ladbrokes, Casumo and 10bet all list debit cards for deposits and withdrawals. Before your first deposit the casino will verify your identity and prompt you to set a financial limit. See how to deposit at an online casino for a general walkthrough that applies to any method.
Why can’t I use a credit card at a UK casino?
Credit cards were banned for gambling in Great Britain from 14 April 2020. The Gambling Commission introduced the ban to stop people gambling with borrowed money, citing research that a high share of credit card gamblers were problem gamblers. The rule also covers e-wallets topped up with a credit card, so you can’t route around it. A debit card, bank transfer or e-wallet funded from your own money is the alternative. Our credit card ban page has the full timeline.
How long does a debit card withdrawal take?
It usually takes from a few hours to two business days after the casino approves the request. Coral and Ladbrokes publish that an eligible Visa debit card on Fast Funds typically receives money within about 4 hours of processing, after a review of a couple of hours. Casumo quotes up to 2 days for cards and 10bet up to 2 business days. Larger payouts and first withdrawals can take longer because of checks. Our fastest withdrawal methods guide compares the options.
Do debit card deposits qualify for casino bonuses?
Usually, but not always, so the payment terms of each offer matter. At Coral, certain debit cards and prepaid cards are excluded from the bet £10, get 100 free spins offer. Ladbrokes excludes prepaid cards but not standard debit cards from its up to 500 free spins offer. Casumo says payment restrictions apply to its 50% match. All are 18+ with terms. Our debit card casino bonus page explains which card types tend to be excluded and why.
Are there fees for using a debit card at a casino?
Usually not. Both Coral and Ladbrokes state in their help centres that they charge no withdrawal fees, and card deposits are normally free. Casumo charges £3 on withdrawals under £10 but nothing at £10 or more, so withdrawing £9 would cost a third of the payout. Your own bank may add a foreign transaction fee if a payment is processed in another currency. Our casino payment fees guide lists every charge to look out for before you deposit.
Can I withdraw to a different card from the one I deposited with?
Normally not until the original card has been repaid. Casinos run a closed-loop policy, sending winnings back to the method you deposited with first, mainly to prevent fraud and money laundering. If your card has expired or been replaced, contact support and they will usually move the payout to a new card in your name or a bank transfer after a check. Casumo’s policy says withdrawals are paid by the deposit method whenever possible. The closed loop glossary entry explains the rule.
Is it safe to give a casino my debit card details?
It is at a casino licensed by the UK Gambling Commission, because card data is processed by regulated payment firms and most payments need approval through your bank. Check the licence before depositing anywhere: the operator’s name and account number should match the Commission’s public register. Never save card details on a shared device, and use a strong, unique password with two-step login where offered. Our casino account security guide covers the practical steps in more detail.
Why was my debit card declined at a casino?
The most common reason is a gambling block switched on in your banking app. Other causes include using a credit or unsupported prepaid card, a card in someone else’s name, reaching a deposit limit you set, or your bank asking you to approve the payment first. The two Entain brands also limit UK customers to three active payment methods in a rolling 30 days. Our deposit declined guide takes you through each fix step by step before you contact support.
Can I stop my debit card being used for gambling?
Yes, many UK banks let you block gambling transactions on your debit card in their app. The Commission lists Bank of Scotland, Barclays, Halifax, HSBC, Lloyds, Monzo, NatWest, RBS, Santander and Starling among those offering a block, and some make you wait or call support before turning it off again. Pair a block with GAMSTOP for wider cover across licensed sites. Our bank gambling blocks page explains how each type works and what it covers.
What is the minimum deposit with a debit card?
It depends on the casino, and many show it only in the cashier. Casumo publishes a £10 minimum for every payment method, though its welcome offer needs £20. Coral and Ladbrokes publish £5 only for Google Pay and Pay by Bank and say the card minimum appears in the cashier. The Coral and Ladbrokes offers need £10 played on slots. Our page on the minimum deposit at UK casinos compares typical figures across the market.
Will a casino check my bank account if I deposit by debit card?
Not routinely, but some checks are required. Once your net deposits pass £150 in a rolling 30 days, operators must run a public-record financial vulnerability check for things like bankruptcy or county court judgments. That is not a credit check and doesn’t affect your credit score. A casino may separately ask for bank statements if it has concerns about harm or the source of funds. See why casinos ask for bank statements for what to expect.
