Casino app vs mobile site is mostly a question of convenience, not odds or offers: both use the same account, the same games and the same UK rules. An app can add biometric login, wallet payments and quicker launching but needs storage and a recent phone. A mobile site works in any browser with nothing to install. Here is how they compare, using app store listings checked on 20 October 2026.
Same account, same balance, same rules: stake limits, deposit-limit prompts and GAMSTOP apply on both.
Coral’s and Ladbrokes’ iPhone casino apps need iOS 18.0 or later; older iPhones can still use the mobile site.
App sizes range from 25.4 MB (PlayOJO, iOS) to 112.3 MB (10bet, iOS).
Install only from the App Store or Google Play and check the developer matches the licensed operator.

Casino app vs mobile site: the short answer
Use the app if you play often on one phone, want Face ID or fingerprint login where offered, and have space and an up-to-date operating system. Use the mobile site if your phone is older, short on storage, shared with others, or if you only play occasionally. Neither option changes the games’ return to player, the welcome offer you’re entitled to or the protections you get under UK rules.
That’s worth stressing because app store descriptions can make an app sound like a different product. It isn’t: you log in to the same account, see the same balance and use the same cashier. Our broader casino apps vs mobile sites guide covers the technology; this page compares the two choices using each partner’s published app details.

Google Play no longer shows a minimum Android version on the web listing, so check compatibility on your device. All five Android apps are available in the UK and rated PEGI 18. Partner-by-partner detail is on our pages for the Coral app, Ladbrokes app, Casumo app, PlayOJO app and 10bet app.
If your iPhone can’t update to iOS 18, the Coral and Ladbrokes casino apps won’t install, but their mobile sites give you the same account and games in the browser.
Storage, data and battery: what each option costs your phone
A 100 MB app isn’t large by modern standards, but casino apps tend to download extra game files and update often. A phone with 64 GB of storage and a full photo library feels the difference more than a new handset. The mobile site keeps only cached files that the browser clears when space runs low.
Data use depends far more on what you play than how you open it. A slot spin uses little data once the game has loaded; a live dealer table streams video continuously. A 30-minute live session will use more data than an hour of slots on either app or browser. For battery and data tips, see do casino apps drain battery and data.
Logins, payments and other app conveniences
The strongest case for an app is convenience, and the listings show this varies by brand. Casumo’s iOS listing states Face ID and Touch ID login, Quick Launch for the last four slots played, a home screen widget, Apple Pay and Quick Deposit. The Coral, Ladbrokes, PlayOJO and 10bet listings don’t mention biometric login or notifications, so don’t assume they have them; check inside the app’s settings.
Wallet payments are available on mobile sites as well as apps at some casinos. Coral’s help centre says Google Pay deposits are authorised with your fingerprint, face or device passcode, and that Google Pay withdrawals at Coral (opens in a new tab) can be requested on desktop, mobile web and the Android apps, paid back to the underlying card. Our Apple Pay vs Google Pay comparison covers wallet payments in more depth.
Advantages
App: one tap to open, no typing a web address
App: biometric login where supported (stated for Casumo)
App: extras such as widgets and quick launch at some brands
Mobile site: nothing to install or update
Mobile site: works on older phones and shared devices
Drawbacks
App: needs storage and a recent operating system
App: privacy labels show data linked to you, at some brands for tracking
App: easier to open on impulse
Mobile site: must log in more often if you clear cookies
Mobile site: fewer device-level extras
Privacy and location: what the store labels show
App Store privacy labels let you see what each app says it collects before installing it. This is one area where the partner apps differ noticeably.

A mobile site isn’t free of tracking either; cookies and the casino’s own systems record activity, and you can manage cookie choices in the browser. Our guides to casino data privacy and whether online casinos share your data explain your rights.
Is a casino app safer than a mobile site?
Neither is automatically safer. The account security that matters, such as identity checks, encrypted payments and your password, is the same on both. The main app-specific risk is installing a fake or unlicensed app. Avoid that by downloading only from the official App Store or Google Play and checking the developer name against the licence holder on the Gambling Commission’s register.
Search the store for the casino’s exact name and open the listing.
Check the developer or seller name: Coral’s Android app lists LC International Limited, PlayOJO’s lists Skill On Net Ltd and 10bet’s lists Blue Star Planet Ltd.
Where names differ inside a group, as with Casumo Services Limited (app) and Recro Limited (licence holder), check the casino’s own site footer and terms for the link between them.
Never install a casino app from a link in a text message, email or social post.
UK protections follow your account, not your device. Online slots are capped at £5 a spin for over-25s and £2 for 18 to 24s on both app and browser. Since 31 October 2025, you’re prompted to set a financial limit before your first deposit wherever you sign up, and lowering a limit takes effect immediately on every device. GAMSTOP self-exclusion covers gambling websites and apps alike, as GAMSTOP’s own site (opens in a new tab) explains.

One extra step before playing can help
If you find an app makes it too easy to play when you hadn’t planned to, deleting it is a sensible step, and casinos’ time-out and reality-check tools work on both versions. See all our head-to-heads on the comparisons hub, or browse the new casino apps page for how to judge newer brands.
Where to play: Coral and Ladbrokes casino apps
Coral and Ladbrokes both publish casino-only apps on iOS and Android, run by LC International Limited (UKGC account 54743) as part of Entain. Because the two brands share an operator, one person may not be able to open new accounts at both, so read the terms before signing up. Offers for phone players generally are covered on our mobile casino bonus page.
Coral: new players aged 18+ who deposit (some payment types, including PayPal, excluded) and bet £10 or more on slots get 100 free spins at 10p each on selected games; accept within 48 hours, use within 7 days, no wagering on winnings, running 1 October 2026 to 1 February 2027. Ladbrokes: new customers aged 18+ who deposit and spend £10 on slots get 50 free spins a day for 10 days, up to 500 at 10p each on selected games, claimed by 23:59 each day and valid for 7 days, with no wagering; PayPal, prepaid cards, Paysafe, Neteller, Skrill and Moneybookers deposits don’t qualify. Terms apply.
Coral and Ladbrokes both publish dedicated casino apps separate from their sportsbook apps, so they’re the closest match for app players. Check each offer’s terms for any device conditions. 18+, T&Cs apply.
Coral and Ladbrokes are both run by LC International Limited (Entain). If you already hold an account with one Entain brand, you may not be able to open a new account with another; check the terms before signing up.

Frequently asked questions
Is a casino app better than a mobile site?
An app is better for convenience if you play often on one phone, while a mobile site is better for older phones, low storage or occasional play. The games, odds, balance and offers are the same on both because they use the same account. Apps can add biometric login and quick-launch features where the casino supports them; Casumo’s iOS listing mentions Face ID and Touch ID. Our casino apps vs mobile sites guide explains how the two technologies differ.
Do casino apps have better odds than mobile sites?
No, a casino app and its mobile site run the same games with the same return to player. The RTP or house edge is set by the game itself, not by how you open it, and it is shown in each game’s help screen. Offers and account balances are shared too. Any difference you notice in results is down to normal randomness, not the platform. If you want to check a game’s published return, see our guide on how to check RTP.
Why won’t the Coral or Ladbrokes casino app install on my iPhone?
The most likely reason is your iOS version: both apps’ App Store listings, checked on 20 October 2026, require iOS 18.0 or later. Older iPhones that can’t update won’t be able to install them. You can still play through the mobile site in Safari, using the same account and balance. Storage space is the other common reason, as each app is just over 100 MB. Clearing space or updating iOS, where your phone supports it, usually solves the problem.
How much storage does a casino app need?
Our partners’ iOS apps range from 25.4 MB for PlayOJO to 112.3 MB for 10bet, according to App Store listings checked in October 2026. Coral and Ladbrokes are each around 101 MB and Casumo about 52.5 MB. Apps can grow over time as game files and updates download. A mobile site uses only browser cache, which the phone can clear automatically. If storage is tight, the browser is the lighter option. See do casino apps drain battery and data for related tips.
Are casino apps safe to download?
Casino apps from licensed operators are safe when you download them from the official App Store or Google Play. The risk comes from fake apps or links sent by text or social media. Check the developer name against the licence holder on the Gambling Commission register; for example, Coral’s Android app lists LC International Limited, which holds UKGC account 54743. Never sideload a casino app from a website. Our casino account security guide covers passwords and other protections.
Can I use the same account on the app and the website?
Yes, one casino account works across the app, the mobile site and desktop. Your balance, bonus progress, deposit limits and verification status are shared, so you don’t need to register twice. Opening a second account at the same casino would breach its terms. Some brands share an operator, such as Coral and Ladbrokes, which may limit holding new accounts at both. Read can you have two accounts at the same casino for the rules.
Do casino apps track my location?
Some do, according to their store listings. Coral’s iOS privacy label lists coarse location linked to you, Ladbrokes lists precise location not linked to you, and PlayOJO’s listing says the app may use location even when it isn’t open. Casumo’s and 10bet’s Android listings say location may be shared or collected. You can control location access in your phone’s settings, though an app may need it for some functions. Review those permissions after installing rather than accepting every prompt.
Do UK gambling rules apply the same way on apps?
Yes, every UK rule that applies to a casino’s website applies to its app too. That includes the £5 and £2 slot stake limits, the 10x wagering cap since 19 January 2026, the financial limit prompt before a first deposit since 31 October 2025, and marketing opt-ins by product and channel since 1 May 2025. GAMSTOP self-exclusion blocks both apps and websites. See the GAMSTOP requirement page for what operators must do when you exclude.
Can I claim a welcome offer through a casino app?
Usually yes, because the app uses the same account and sign-up process as the website, but always read the offer’s terms for device or channel conditions. Coral’s offer requires a deposit and a £10 bet on slots, while Ladbrokes’ requires £10 spent on slots, and both exclude certain payment methods such as PayPal. Offers are for new customers aged 18+ and terms apply. Our mobile casino bonus page covers offers aimed at phone players.
Which partner casinos have a casino-only app?
Coral, Ladbrokes and PlayOJO have casino-focused apps, according to their App Store listings checked in October 2026. Coral’s and Ladbrokes’ casino apps are separate from their sportsbook apps, and PlayOJO is a casino-only brand. Casumo’s iOS app combines casino and sports betting, though its Android title is casino-focused. 10bet uses one combined sportsbook and casino app, listed in the Sports category on iOS. Our Casumo app page explains how the combined app is laid out.
