Ladbrokes verification confirms your name, age and address before you can deposit, play or withdraw, as UK law requires. Most customers are checked automatically in the background; if not, you upload photo ID and, where the address doesn’t match, a bank statement or utility bill from the last three months. Ladbrokes says it aims to review documents within 36 hours.
Ladbrokes must verify your name, age and address before you deposit or play, including demo games.
Most checks are automatic; documents are only needed if the database check can’t confirm you.
Photo ID plus proof of address dated within 3 months (12 months for council tax, HMRC or tenancy papers) covers most requests.

What Ladbrokes verification checks, and why
Ladbrokes’ help centre puts it simply: under UK Gambling Commission rules it must verify the name, age and address of every customer. The process is known as Know Your Customer, or KYC, and once it is complete your account is fully active and you can withdraw winnings.
The rule behind it dates from 7 May 2019, when the Commission required online gambling businesses to verify age and identity before a customer can deposit or gamble, including with a bonus or on free-to-play demo games. Before then, operators had 72 hours to finish age checks. The Gambling Commission’s age and ID verification guide (opens in a new tab) explains what businesses must check. Our pages on KYC checks and casino age verification give the background.
Ladbrokes’ age verification policy says you can’t deposit, bet or access any gambling products, including free play, until verification is complete.
The three layers of Ladbrokes verification
People often talk about “verification” as one event, but at Ladbrokes it can happen at three different points in the life of an account. Each has its own trigger and its own paperwork.

On top of these, UK rules since 28 February 2025 require a public-record financial vulnerability check, for things like bankruptcy or county court judgments, when your net deposits pass £150 in a rolling 30 days. That check runs in the background and doesn’t ask you for documents; the Commission’s financial vulnerability check condition (opens in a new tab) sets it out. It isn’t a credit check, and the separate credit-reference financial risk assessments were only piloted and are not live; see our page on so-called affordability checks.
Ladbrokes verification documents: accepted photo ID

Can’t be used as proof of address
A UK photocard driving licence can double as proof of address if the address on it matches your account. If you’ve moved since it was issued, you’ll need a separate address document. Our guide to casino verification documents covers how these rules compare across UK sites.
Proof of address for Ladbrokes, with date limits
The address document must show your full name and the exact address registered on your Ladbrokes account. Date limits depend on the type of document.
Open the document uploader, which Ladbrokes recommends, from your account area; you can also use the iOS or Android app.
Photograph or scan each document so all four corners and every word are visible.
For a driving licence, upload both the front and the back.
Submit, then wait for the review; Ladbrokes aims to finish within 36 hours.
If you can’t access your account, email the documents to documents@ladbrokes.com instead.
No scanner is needed. The help centre says a clear photo from a phone, camera or webcam is fine. Uploading from the Ladbrokes casino app is often the easiest way to do this on a phone.
How long does Ladbrokes verification take?
For most people, Ladbrokes verification takes no noticeable time at all, because the automatic check confirms them during sign-up. When documents are needed, the help centre gives a target of 36 hours for review. A source of funds review takes 2–3 business days once you have submitted everything.
Here is how that looks in practice. Upload a passport and a two-month-old bank statement on a Monday evening and, on the published target, you should expect an answer by Wednesday morning. Send a statement that is four months old, and the clock effectively restarts when you replace it, because it falls outside the three-month window. Our answer on how long casino verification takes covers delays more generally.
Ladbrokes source of funds checks
Separate from identity checks, Ladbrokes may ask where your gambling money comes from once you’ve spent beyond certain levels. Its account help pages describe this as an obligation similar to the checks banks make, and say it doesn’t publish the threshold.
Two ways to respond
Open Banking. You follow a consent link, valid for 5 days, that gives TransUnion one-time access to income information. Ladbrokes says this doesn’t affect your credit history.
Documents. You complete a short form and upload proof such as bank statements or payslips from the last 3 months, a tax return, or proof of an inheritance or property sale. These go through the uploader or by email to dkyb@ladbrokes.com.
Moving house, name changes and other special cases
You’ve moved. Only the address on your account can be verified. Send proof of the new address together with a request to update it.
No permanent address. Ladbrokes says you can’t hold an account without an address it can verify.
Moved abroad. The help centre asks you to close your current account and open one in your new country of residence, where Ladbrokes operates there.
Name changed. Your ID, address proof and payment methods must all match the account name, so update the account before uploading.
Asked again after verifying. Routine reviews can trigger new requests; deposits, betting and withdrawals may be restricted until they are met.
Your rights during Ladbrokes verification
UK rules limit how verification can be used against you. A licensed casino can’t make ID a condition of withdrawing if it could have asked for it earlier, except where the law requires a check at that point, and it can’t confiscate your money because you didn’t verify within a time limit. The Gambling Commission’s page for players who can’t withdraw their winnings (opens in a new tab) sets this out.
A verified account can deposit, play and withdraw without further holds, subject to any limits you set. Withdrawals then move to the review-then-transfer process explained in Ladbrokes withdrawal time. If you haven’t joined yet, our Ladbrokes casino sign up guide shows where verification fits into registration, and the casino verification explained guide covers the process at any UK site.
After verification: Ladbrokes’ welcome spins
Once verified, new customers aged 18+ can use Ladbrokes’ welcome offer (checked 5 October 2026): deposit and spend £10 or more on slots, then claim 50 free spins a day for the first 10 days, up to 500 in total. Spins are 10p each on selected games, must be claimed before 23:59 each day and are valid for 7 days, with no wagering on winnings. Prepaid cards, PayPal, Paysafe, Neteller, Skrill and Moneybookers deposits don’t qualify. Terms apply.
Coral runs the same verification system under the same licence holder; its offer gives 100 free spins at 10p each when you bet £10 on slots, with no wagering on winnings. See Coral verification for its side, and check the terms before opening accounts at both brands. Spins are a form of entertainment, and losses are more likely than wins over time.
Verification has to be complete before any welcome offer can be used. Ladbrokes’ spins come first, followed by Coral’s from the same operator. 18+, terms apply.
Coral and Ladbrokes are both run by LC International Limited (Entain). If you already hold an account with one Entain brand, you may not be able to open a new account with another; check the terms before signing up.
Significant terms: 18+. New customers only, from 14/11/25 until further notice. Certain deposit methods excluded. Deposit and spend £10+ on slots for 50 free spins a day during the first 10 days after first deposit and registration (max 500, £0.10 each, selected games, claim before 23:59 each day, valid 7 days). No wagering. Prepaid cards, PayPal, Paysafe, Neteller, Skrill and Moneybookers deposits do not qualify. Restrictions and T&Cs apply. GamCare.org.uk

Frequently asked questions
How long does Ladbrokes verification take?
Most Ladbrokes customers are verified automatically during sign-up, so there is no wait. If you need to upload documents, Ladbrokes says it aims to review them within 36 hours. Source of funds reviews take 2–3 business days once everything is submitted. Sending clear, in-date documents that match your account details is the best way to avoid a second round. Our answer on how long casino verification takes compares typical timings.
What documents does Ladbrokes accept for verification?
Ladbrokes accepts a passport, national ID card or driving licence as photo ID, including provisional licences; send both sides of a licence. An expired passport needs a birth certificate alongside it. For proof of address, a bank statement or utility bill dated within 3 months works, or a council tax bill, HMRC letter or tenancy agreement dated within 12 months. The casino verification documents guide explains why each is asked for.
Can I play at Ladbrokes before I’m verified?
No, Ladbrokes’ age verification policy says you can’t deposit, bet or access gambling products, including free-play games, until verification is complete. That reflects UK rules in force since May 2019, which require age and identity checks before any gambling or demo play. Most people pass automatically at sign-up, so this rarely causes a delay. Our page on the free-to-play demo rule explains why even no-stake games need verification.
Why has Ladbrokes asked me to verify again?
Ladbrokes says verified customers may be asked for documents again during routine account checks, and its age verification policy notes that checks repeat periodically to keep data accurate. A new request can also follow a change of address or name, or higher spending that triggers a source of funds check. Until you respond, deposits, bets and withdrawals may be restricted. See why casinos ask for documents for the common triggers.
How do I upload documents to Ladbrokes?
Log in and use the online document uploader, which Ladbrokes recommends, or upload through the iOS or Android app. If you can’t get into your account, email the documents to documents@ladbrokes.com. A clear phone photo is fine; you don’t need a scanner, but all four corners and every word should be visible. Upload both sides of a driving licence. Our Ladbrokes casino app page explains uploading from a phone.
Will Ladbrokes run a credit check on me?
Identity verification isn’t a credit check. Since 28 February 2025, UK casinos must run a public-record financial vulnerability check, covering things like bankruptcy and county court judgments, once net deposits pass £150 in 30 days, but that doesn’t ask you for anything. If Ladbrokes asks for source of funds through Open Banking, it says this has no impact on your credit history. Our page on affordability checks explains what is and isn’t live.
What is a Ladbrokes source of funds check?
It is a request to show where the money you gamble with comes from, which Ladbrokes says it must make after customers reach certain spending levels. You can share income data through Open Banking with TransUnion, or upload documents such as three months of payslips or bank statements. You have up to 28 days, and the review takes 2–3 business days. Our explainer on source of funds checks covers the rules behind it.
Can Ladbrokes withhold my winnings until I verify?
Ladbrokes can require completed verification before a withdrawal, but UK rules limit how. A casino can’t demand ID at withdrawal that it could have asked for earlier, except where the law requires a check at that point, and it can’t confiscate your money because you didn’t verify within a time limit. If you feel a request is being used to delay payment, complain formally. Our guide to Ladbrokes withdrawal time covers the payout side.
Why was my Ladbrokes proof of address rejected?
The most common reasons are that the document is too old, the address doesn’t exactly match the one on your account, or the image is unclear. Bank statements and utility bills must be within 3 months; council tax, HMRC and tenancy documents within 12 months. Only the registered address can be verified, so update the account first if you’ve moved. Other pitfalls are listed in our casino proof of address guide.
Is Ladbrokes verification the same as Coral’s?
Both brands are run by LC International Limited, part of Entain, so they work under the same licence and similar processes. You still verify each account separately, because they are separate brands with separate accounts. Some restrictions can apply across Entain brands, depending on the reason. Our Coral verification page covers Coral’s side, and the Ladbrokes casino hub gives the wider brand overview.
