How to close a Ladbrokes account

To close a Ladbrokes account, log in and use one of two pages in your account: Service Closure, for closing some or all products for any reason, or Self-Exclusion, if gambling is becoming a problem. Ladbrokes' help centre says the choice matters, because a self-exclusion is far harder to undo than a closure.

Key takeaways

  • Service Closure closes one product or the whole account, for a set period or indefinitely; UK customers face a 24-hour cool-off before it reopens.
  • Self-Exclusion offers a time-out for a set period or an indefinite exclusion that can't be lifted for at least 6 months.
  • Withdraw your cash balance before or straight after closing; closed-loop rules decide where it goes.
  • To block every UK-licensed gambling site at once, register with GAMSTOP as well.
  • Free, confidential help is on the National Gambling Helpline, 0808 8020 133, 24 hours a day.

How to close a Ladbrokes account: the quick answer

Ladbrokes gives you two separate routes, and its help centre on opening, closing and reopening accounts draws a firm line between them. If you want to stop for an ordinary reason, such as no longer using the site, wanting fewer accounts or simply losing interest, use the Service Closure page. If you have a gambling problem, or worry that you might be developing one, the help centre points you to the Self-Exclusion page instead.

Both pages sit inside your logged-in account, so you can act straight away without waiting for an agent. You do not need to give a reason. The general principles of shutting an online casino account are covered in our guide on how to close a casino account; this page applies them to Ladbrokes specifically, using its published help pages as checked in October 2026.

If you feel you need to stop gambling now, you do not have to sort out every detail first. Choose Self-Exclusion, then call the free National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133 for support, any time of day.

Ladbrokes closure, time-out or self-exclusion: which fits you

The three options differ mainly in how easily they can be reversed. The easier an option is to undo, the less protection it gives you in a weak moment, which is why the self-exclusion route is deliberately slow to unwind.

Ladbrokes' public safer gambling page describes self-exclusion as a joint commitment between you and the operator. In practice that means Ladbrokes takes on duties as well: under the Gambling Commission's rules for remote operators, a self-excluded customer must be refused service and removed from marketing. Our explainer on UK self-exclusion rules sets out those duties in full, and time-outs explained covers shorter breaks.

Closing your Ladbrokes account with Service Closure

Service Closure suits anyone who wants to stop using Ladbrokes, or just one part of it, for reasons that are not about gambling harm. It lets you close single products or all of them.

  1. Log in to your Ladbrokes account on the website or app.
  2. Withdraw any cash balance you want to keep (see the balance section below).
  3. Open your account menu and go to the Service Closure page.
  4. Choose which products to close, or select all of them to close the whole account.
  5. Pick a definite closure with an end date, or an indefinite closure with none.
  6. Confirm, and keep a screenshot or confirmation email for your records.

The help centre says a definite closure reopens the selected products automatically when the period ends. An indefinite closure keeps them shut until you reopen them yourself on the same page. If you are a UK customer, a 24-hour cool-off applies before a reopened product becomes usable, which gives you a day to change your mind. Our page on what a casino cooling-off period is explains why that delay exists.

Self-excluding from Ladbrokes if gambling is a problem

Self-exclusion is the stronger route. Ladbrokes' help centre offers two forms: a time-out for a set period, after which the account reopens automatically, and an indefinite exclusion with no end date. To revoke an indefinite exclusion you have to wait at least 6 months and then contact Customer Service; it does not lift with a click.

  1. Log in and withdraw any cash you want to keep, if you can do so quickly.
  2. Open your account menu and go to the Self-Exclusion page.
  3. Choose a time-out for a set period, or indefinite self-exclusion.
  4. Confirm the exclusion and note the date.
  5. Register with GAMSTOP so other UK-licensed sites are blocked too.
  6. Consider a bank gambling block and blocking software on your devices.
  7. Talk to someone: the National Gambling Helpline is free on 0808 8020 133.

Ladbrokes' help centre says a self-excluded account cannot update personal details, and no deposits can be made. The Commission's rules for online operators, in LCCP social responsibility code 3.5.3 (opens in a new tab), also require operators to close a self-excluded customer's account, return funds and stop marketing to them. Our step-by-step guide on how to self-exclude covers the wider process across sites.

Getting your money out when you close a Ladbrokes account

Closing or self-excluding does not mean losing your balance. Ladbrokes' help centre says you can request a withdrawal of any cash balance after closing, subject to the circumstances of the case. It is simpler, though, to withdraw before you close, because the cashier is fully available and you can see where the money will go.

Ladbrokes uses a closed-loop system, so withdrawals return to the methods you deposited with; our glossary entry on closed-loop payments explains why. Bonus or complimentary funds that still carry restrictions are not withdrawable, so any bonus balance is likely to be lost when you close. Your own cash is a different matter.

Worked example: closing with £64.20 left

Suppose your balance is £64.20 of your own cash, and you deposited £50 by Visa debit and £20 by Apple Pay over the last few weeks. Under Ladbrokes' published closed-loop approach, the cashier may send £50 to the Visa card and the remaining £14.20 to Apple Pay, rather than all of it to the method you pick. Fast Bank Transfer and Google Pay both have a published £5 minimum, so a very small leftover can be harder to take out by those routes. Our guide on how to withdraw casino winnings walks through the cashier in more detail.

What happens if you just stop logging in

Some people leave an account dormant instead of closing it. Ladbrokes' inactive account page says an account becomes inactive after 13 consecutive months without a cash bet, and Ladbrokes then tries to pay the balance to the last method used. If that fails, it can charge £3 a month from the balance, starting 30 days after the account goes inactive, until the balance reaches zero; no money is taken from your bank. On a £20 balance, seven monthly fees would empty it within roughly seven months. Customer Services can be asked to refund those fees, but withdrawing and closing properly avoids the issue.

What happens after you close a Ladbrokes account

The help centre lists what changes once an account or product is closed or self-excluded:

  • You can no longer play with real money.
  • If all products are closed, or you have self-excluded, you cannot deposit.
  • A self-excluded account cannot update its personal details.
  • Your personal details are not deleted, whether you closed the account or Ladbrokes did; they are kept for the statutory limitation period, after which you can ask for deletion.
  • Once an account has been blocked, you cannot register with Ladbrokes again.

Keeping data for a limitation period is normal for regulated businesses, because records may be needed for legal or regulatory reasons. Our guide to casino data privacy explains what you can ask for under UK data protection law, and do online casinos share my data covers who sees it.

Does closing your Ladbrokes account close Coral too?

Not necessarily. Ladbrokes is run by LC International Limited, part of Entain, under Gambling Commission account 54743, and the same licence covers other brands. Ladbrokes' help centre says that under current regulations no new accounts are allowed across brands operating under the same licence, and it names Coral, bwin, PartyPoker and Sportingbet as linked brands. That restricts opening new accounts; the closure pages do not say a Ladbrokes closure automatically shuts an existing account at those brands.

So if you hold accounts at other brands and want to stop everywhere, close or self-exclude at each one, or use GAMSTOP, which covers every online operator licensed in Great Britain. Our explainer on multiple casino accounts covers how linked brands treat duplicate accounts.

Going further than closing: GAMSTOP and gambling blocks

A Ladbrokes self-exclusion only covers Ladbrokes. GAMSTOP's free self-exclusion scheme (opens in a new tab) covers every online gambling site and app licensed in Great Britain, because all online operators have had to take part since 31 March 2020. You choose a period between 6 months and 5 years, the exclusion cannot be cancelled early, and when it ends it stays in place until you ask GAMSTOP to remove it.

Can you reopen a closed Ladbrokes account?

It depends entirely on which route you used. A Service Closure can be reversed on the same page at any time, subject to the 24-hour cool-off for UK customers. A time-out reopens on its own when the period you chose ends. An indefinite self-exclusion is the hardest to reverse: you must wait at least 6 months and then contact Customer Service, and Ladbrokes says reopening is not possible before then. Where an account has been blocked, the help centre says you cannot register with Ladbrokes again.

If you are thinking about reopening after a self-exclusion, it can help to talk it through with someone first, and to check whether the reasons you stopped have changed. Our page on whether you can reopen a closed casino account covers the general rules, and signs of problem gambling is a useful honest check.

Stopping Ladbrokes marketing after you close

Closing an account and stopping marketing are related but not identical. Since 1 May 2025, UK rules mean you opt in to gambling marketing separately for each product (casino, betting, bingo) and each channel (email, SMS, phone), with opt-out as the default; our explainer on marketing consent rules has the detail. If you close for ordinary reasons, check your contact preferences before you go and switch everything off.

If you self-exclude, the operator must take you off its marketing lists. Should promotional messages keep arriving after a self-exclusion, keep copies and raise it with Ladbrokes as a complaint; our guide to complaints and ADR explains the route if that does not resolve it.

If you want to cut back rather than close your Ladbrokes account

Closing is not the only option if your aim is to gamble less. Ladbrokes' safer gambling page says you can set daily, weekly and monthly deposit limits, and take a break at any time. Since 31 October 2025, UK casinos must prompt you to set a financial limit before your first deposit, and any decrease to a limit takes effect immediately. Our guides on setting deposit limits and the deposit limit rules explain the details.

A practical example: if you decide that £40 a month is what you can afford to spend on entertainment, a monthly limit of £40 means the cashier refuses a deposit that would take you over it. Gambling is paid entertainment, and over time losses are the likely outcome because of the house edge, so a limit is a budget rather than a target. If limits keep being tested, that is often the signal to choose a self-exclusion instead. Our reality checks explainer covers another way of keeping track of time.

Free UK support when you close a gambling account

Ladbrokes account closure checklist

Use this list in order. It takes about ten minutes for a straightforward closure.

  1. Decide whether this is an ordinary closure or a self-exclusion; if harm is a factor, choose self-exclusion.
  2. Withdraw any cash balance and note the transaction ID.
  3. Switch off marketing for every product and channel in your preferences.
  4. Use the Service Closure or Self-Exclusion page and save the confirmation.
  5. Repeat at any other gambling accounts you hold, or register with GAMSTOP to cover them all.
  6. Add a bank gambling block or blocking software if you want extra protection.
  7. Check that the withdrawal arrives, and contact Ladbrokes if it does not.

Frequently asked questions

How do I permanently close my Ladbrokes account?

Log in and go to the Service Closure page, then choose an indefinite closure of all products. That closes the whole account with no end date, although Ladbrokes says you can reopen it later on the same page, with a 24-hour cool-off for UK customers. If you want a closure that is hard to undo because gambling is causing harm, use the Self-Exclusion page and choose indefinite self-exclusion instead, which cannot be revoked for at least 6 months. See our guide on how to self-exclude.

Can I close my Ladbrokes account online without calling?

Yes. Both closure routes are self-service pages inside your logged-in account, so you can close or self-exclude without speaking to anyone. Ladbrokes' help centre only mentions contacting Customer Service when you want to revoke an indefinite self-exclusion, which you can do after at least 6 months, or where Ladbrokes itself has closed the account. Keep a screenshot of the confirmation screen. Our general guide on how to close a casino account covers the same steps at other UK sites.

What is the difference between closing and self-excluding at Ladbrokes?

A closure is for ordinary reasons and is easy to reverse; a self-exclusion is for gambling harm and is deliberately hard to reverse. Service Closure lets you shut one or all products, for a set time or indefinitely, and reopen with a 24-hour cool-off. Self-Exclusion offers a time-out that runs its full course, or an indefinite exclusion you can only lift after 6 months via Customer Service. Operators must also stop marketing to self-excluded customers. Our page on self-exclusion rules explains those duties.

What happens to my money when I close my Ladbrokes account?

Your cash balance stays yours. According to the help centre, you can request a withdrawal of any cash balance after closing or self-excluding, and the money goes back through its closed-loop system to the methods you deposited with. Bonus funds still under restrictions cannot be withdrawn, so those are usually lost. It is simplest to withdraw before you close, while the cashier is fully open. Our guide on how to withdraw casino winnings explains the cashier steps and typical timings.

Can I reopen my Ladbrokes account after closing it?

Usually yes, if you used Service Closure: reopen the products on the same page, and UK customers then wait 24 hours before they can play. A time-out reopens on its own when the chosen period ends. An indefinite self-exclusion cannot be reopened for at least 6 months, after which you contact Customer Service. Ladbrokes also says that once an account has been blocked, you cannot register with it again. The wider rules are covered in can I reopen a closed casino account.

Does Ladbrokes delete my personal data when I close my account?

No, not straight away. Personal details are not deleted, the help centre explains, when an account is closed, whether by you or by Ladbrokes, because they are kept for the statutory limitation period for legal reasons. After that period you can ask for your data to be deleted. This is common across regulated gambling businesses, which may need records for regulatory or legal checks. Our guide to casino data privacy explains your rights under UK data protection law and how to make a request.

Will closing my Ladbrokes account also close my Coral account?

Not automatically, based on Ladbrokes' published help pages. Ladbrokes and Coral share a licence holder, and the help centre says new accounts are not allowed across brands on the same licence, but the closure pages describe closing your Ladbrokes account only. To stop at both, close or self-exclude at each, or register with GAMSTOP, which blocks every online operator licensed in Great Britain for the period you choose. Our guide on how to use GAMSTOP walks through registration.

Should I use GAMSTOP as well as closing my Ladbrokes account?

If gambling is causing you problems, yes, because a Ladbrokes self-exclusion covers only Ladbrokes. GAMSTOP is free and covers all online gambling sites and apps licensed in Great Britain, since every online operator has had to take part since 31 March 2020. You choose a period between 6 months and 5 years, and it cannot be cancelled early. Combining it with a bank gambling block adds another layer. The page can I cancel GAMSTOP explains why it is designed that way.

Does Ladbrokes charge fees on an account I no longer use?

Only in limited circumstances. Under the published inactivity policy, an account becomes inactive after 13 consecutive months without a cash bet, and Ladbrokes then tries to pay the balance to your last payment method. If it cannot, it may charge £3 a month from the balance, starting 30 days after the account becomes inactive, until the balance reaches zero; nothing is taken from your bank. No fee applies to a zero balance. You can ask Customer Services for a refund of inactivity fees. See can a casino close your account.
