Ladbrokes deposit limits and safer gambling tools at a glance

Ladbrokes offers three main account tools: deposit limits, a time-out (which Ladbrokes also calls a cool-off period) and self-exclusion. They sit in the account menu under limits and self-exclusion, and the same tools apply whether you use the website or the Ladbrokes Casino app. Ladbrokes is also registered with GAMSTOP, the national self-exclusion scheme.

Each tool suits a different situation. A deposit limit keeps gambling within a budget you've chosen in advance. A time-out is a short pause, for example around payday or a stressful week. Self-exclusion and GAMSTOP are for when you want to stop. Our comparison of safer gambling tools explains the differences across UK sites.

Setting a Ladbrokes deposit limit step by step

Ladbrokes' spending controls page says deposit limits are offered to all customers and can be set for a day, a week, a month, or any combination. Under UK rules in force since 31 October 2025, new customers are prompted to set a limit before their first deposit, and setting one is the default choice.

  1. Log in on the website or the Ladbrokes Casino app.
  2. Open the account menu and go to the limits section (Deposit Limits).
  3. Choose the period or periods you want: daily, weekly and/or monthly.
  4. Type the amount for each period. UK rules require free-text amounts, so there are no suggested figures to pick from.
  5. If you set more than one, make the longest period the highest figure; Ladbrokes requires the monthly limit to be above the weekly or daily one.
  6. Confirm. A new or lower limit applies straight away.

Our guide on how to set deposit limits covers the same process at other UK casinos, and setting a gambling budget helps you work out the figure.

When Ladbrokes deposit limits reset

Ladbrokes' deposit limits run on fixed calendar periods rather than rolling ones, which affects when you can deposit again after reaching a limit. The help centre sets out each one.

Ladbrokes deposit limit periods and reset points
LimitPeriod startsResets
Daily00:00 UK time each calendar dayEvery midnight
Weekly00:00 UK time on MondayEvery Monday at midnight
Monthly00:00 UK time on the 1stThe 1st of each month at midnight

Worked examples

  • Daily limit £20. You deposit £20 at 22:30 on Tuesday. You can't deposit again until 00:00 on Wednesday, only 90 minutes later. A daily limit alone doesn't stop two days' worth of deposits close together.
  • Weekly limit £50. You deposit £50 on Saturday 7 November 2026. Nothing more is possible until 00:00 on Monday 9 November, when a fresh £50 becomes available.
  • Monthly limit £100 plus weekly £30. By Thursday 12 November you've deposited £30 that week and £80 that month. The weekly cap blocks further deposits until Monday 16 November; that week, only £20 more is possible because the monthly cap of £100 is reached first.

Because calendar periods reset at fixed times, combining a weekly or monthly limit with a daily one gives steadier control than a daily limit by itself. Our page on deposit limit rules explains what operators must offer.

Lowering, raising or removing a Ladbrokes deposit limit

Ladbrokes lets you edit or remove a deposit limit at any time, but the two directions work differently. Requests to lower a limit are put in place immediately. Requests to raise or remove one 'may require additional confirmation and become effective after 24 hrs', according to Ladbrokes' spending controls page.

That 24-hour gap is deliberate. It gives you a cooling-off period between the decision to spend more and the ability to do it, which is when many people reconsider. If you notice you're raising limits often, or raising them after losses, treat that as a signal rather than an inconvenience. The cooling-off period glossary entry explains why the delay exists.

Deposit limits count money going in, not losses. Ladbrokes' published tools don't include a separate loss limit, so a deposit limit is the main spending cap. See loss limits for how they differ at other sites.

UK rules behind the Ladbrokes safer gambling tools

Several Gambling Commission rules shape how these tools behave. They apply to Ladbrokes and every other UK-licensed casino, and they've changed a lot since 2025. The Commission's announcement of new deposit limit rules (opens in a new tab) sets out the latest changes.

Existing customers without a limit must also be reminded at least every 12 months, and those with limits at least every six months. The full background is in our pages on customer interaction rules, marketing consent and the self-exclusion rules.

Taking a Ladbrokes time-out: one day to six weeks

A time-out is a short, fixed break. Ladbrokes' page describes breaks of 'a day, 1 week, 1 month or any other period up to 6 weeks'. During that time you can't deposit or play, and you're excluded from targeted marketing. When the period ends, the account reopens automatically.

That automatic reopening is the key difference from self-exclusion. A time-out suits someone who wants a pause, for instance during a fortnight when money is tight, but expects to return. If you think you'll want to come back early, the time-out won't allow it, which is the point. Our guides to gambling time-outs and taking a break from gambling cover how to use the break well.

  1. Open the account menu and go to the time-out and self-exclusion section.
  2. Choose time-out (cool-off) rather than self-exclusion.
  3. Select a day, a week, a month, or a custom period up to six weeks.
  4. Confirm. You'll be logged out of gambling features until the period ends.

Ladbrokes self-exclusion: six months or longer

Self-exclusion is for stopping, not pausing. Ladbrokes describes it as 'a joint commitment from the customer and us': Ladbrokes takes reasonable steps to stop the account reopening or new accounts being opened, and you agree not to try. Its UK terms set the minimum at six months, and the maximum can be indefinite.

  • No early end. Clause 12.7 of the terms says reactivation isn't possible before the period finishes.
  • Cooling-off on return. After the period ends, a request to reactivate triggers a 24-hour cooling-off period, and an email request must be verified by phone.
  • Your balance. Clause 12.5 says remaining funds are returned within ten working days of the request, subject to any open bets.
  • Marketing stops. You're removed from targeted communications during the exclusion.
  • Extending. To extend an exclusion, or exclude without an account, email responsible.gambling@ladbrokes.com.

Our step-by-step guide to self-exclusion compares operator-level exclusion with the national schemes.

Excluding from Ladbrokes only, or from every Entain brand

Clause 12.4 of Ladbrokes' UK terms gives a choice many players don't know about: you can apply self-exclusion to Ladbrokes alone or to all Entain group brands. Those include Coral, Gala Casino, Gala Bingo, Gala Spins, Foxy Games, Foxy Bingo, PartyCasino and bwin, which all trade under the same licence.

If you're self-excluding because gambling has become hard to control, the group-wide option closes the most obvious gap, which is moving to a sister brand with a familiar layout. For non-Entain sites, add GAMSTOP as well (see below). The trading names involved are listed on the Gambling Commission register for account 54743 (opens in a new tab).

GAMSTOP, bank blocks and blocking software

Ladbrokes' UK terms confirm it is registered with GAMSTOP (opens in a new tab), the free national scheme that blocks you from every UK-licensed online gambling site and app at once. You choose six months, one year or five years; it can't be cancelled early, and it stays in place after the period until you ask for it to be removed. Our guide on how to use GAMSTOP walks through registration.

Two further layers make a block harder to get around. Many UK banks, including Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds, Monzo, NatWest, Santander and Starling, let you block gambling payments from your card, and blocking software stops gambling sites loading on your devices.

Is your gambling still under control? Warning signs to watch

Ladbrokes' 'helping you stay in control' page lists nine yes-or-no questions, such as whether you've missed work or study to gamble, or lied about the time or money spent, and notes that more 'yes' answers mean a greater risk of developing a problem. It also links to an independent, anonymous online screening survey.

Its general advice is sound: treat gambling as entertainment that costs money, not a way to earn; only stake what you can afford to lose; don't chase losses; and keep track of time as well as money. If several of these feel hard, the tools above are there to help, and so are free services. The guide to signs of problem gambling goes through the common warning signs in more detail.

Free, confidential support outside Ladbrokes

You don't have to go through Ladbrokes to get help. The National Gambling Helpline, run by GamCare (opens in a new tab), is free and open 24 hours a day on 0808 8020 133, with live chat and WhatsApp too. In Wales, the NHS Wales helpline is on 0808 2819 265.

Frequently asked questions

How do I set a deposit limit on Ladbrokes?

Log in, open the account menu and go to Deposit Limits, then enter a daily, weekly and/or monthly amount and confirm. A new limit applies immediately. If you set several, the longest period must carry the highest amount, so a monthly limit has to be above a weekly one. New UK customers are also prompted to set a limit before their first deposit, under rules in force since 31 October 2025. Our deposit limits guide has tips on choosing an amount.

How long does it take to increase a Ladbrokes deposit limit?

Ladbrokes says requests to raise or remove a deposit limit may need additional confirmation and only take effect after 24 hours. Lowering a limit, by contrast, applies straight away. The 24-hour wait gives you time to reconsider, which is why UK safer gambling practice builds it in. If you find yourself increasing limits regularly, especially after losses, it may be worth taking a time-out instead. Read more about the cooling-off period and why it exists.

When does a Ladbrokes weekly deposit limit reset?

Weekly limits at Ladbrokes run in seven-day blocks starting at 00:00 UK time on Monday, so they reset every Monday at midnight rather than seven days after your first deposit. Daily limits reset at 00:00 UK time each day, and monthly limits at 00:00 on the first day of each month. This means a deposit late on Sunday and another early Monday can both fall within a weekly limit. UK requirements are covered in deposit limit rules.

How long can a Ladbrokes time-out last?

A Ladbrokes time-out, also called a cool-off period, can be set for a day, one week, one month or any other period up to six weeks. You can't deposit or play during it, and targeted marketing stops. It can't be cancelled early, and the account reopens automatically when the period ends. If you need a longer break, self-exclusion starts at six months. Our guide to gambling time-outs explains when each option suits.

Can I cancel Ladbrokes self-exclusion early?

No. Ladbrokes' UK terms say an account can't be reactivated before the self-exclusion period ends, and the minimum period is six months. Once it ends, a reactivation request triggers a 24-hour cooling-off period, and requests made by email must be confirmed by phone. To make an exclusion longer, email responsible.gambling@ladbrokes.com. If you also registered with GAMSTOP, that runs separately and can't be cancelled early either. See can I cancel GAMSTOP.

Does Ladbrokes self-exclusion cover Coral and other sites?

It can. Clause 12.4 of Ladbrokes' UK terms lets you apply self-exclusion to Ladbrokes only or to all Entain group brands. Choosing the group-wide option covers sister brands on the same licence, such as Coral, Gala and Foxy. It doesn't cover operators outside Entain. To block every UK-licensed online gambling site at once, register with GAMSTOP as well. Our self-exclusion rules page explains what operators must do when you exclude.

What happens to my Ladbrokes balance if I self-exclude?

Ladbrokes' UK terms say that when you self-exclude, any remaining funds are returned within ten working days of your request, subject to open bets and the terms on withdrawals. You won't be able to deposit or play while excluded. If you have a pending withdrawal, it should continue to be processed. Make sure your payment details are current so the money reaches you. If the balance doesn't arrive, Ladbrokes' complaints process and the Commission's player funds protection rules apply.

Is Ladbrokes part of GAMSTOP?

Yes. Ladbrokes' UK terms state the brand is registered with GAMSTOP, and every online operator licensed in Great Britain has had to take part since 31 March 2020. If you register with GAMSTOP, your Ladbrokes account will be blocked for the period you choose: six months, one year or five years. GAMSTOP is free, covers websites and apps, and stays in place after the period until you ask for it to be lifted. See how long GAMSTOP lasts.

Does Ladbrokes have reality checks or loss limits?

Ladbrokes' published safer gambling pages, checked on 20 October 2026, describe deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion, but don't describe a separate loss limit or reality-check reminder. Your account settings may show more options, so look in the limits section after logging in. UK slot rules do require your balance and net position to be shown during play, which helps track spending. Our reality checks explained guide shows how those reminders work where offered.

Where can I get help if I'm worried about my gambling?

The National Gambling Helpline is free, confidential and open 24/7 on 0808 8020 133, run by GamCare, with live chat and WhatsApp as well. In England you can self-refer to NHS gambling clinics, and Gamblers Anonymous runs peer-support meetings. You can also block gambling with GAMSTOP and your bank. Talking to someone early helps, before money problems build. How do I stop gambling? sets out practical first steps.
