Coral verification is the Know Your Customer check that confirms your name, age and address before you can deposit, play or withdraw. Many accounts pass automatically; if not, Coral asks for photo ID and sometimes proof of address, and aims to review uploads within 36 hours. This page lists every document Coral accepts and the date limit on each.
Coral must confirm name, age and address before you can deposit, play or withdraw (UK rule since 7 May 2019).
Photo ID: passport (photo page), photocard or provisional driving licence, or government ID card showing name, date of birth and photo.
Proof of address: bank statement or utility bill within 3 months; council tax, tenancy or insurance documents within 12 months.
Upload via Coral's online uploader, its iOS and Android apps, or by email; Coral aims to review within 36 hours.
Coral can ask again later in routine checks; ignoring requests restricts deposits, bets and withdrawals.

What Coral verification checks, and why
Coral's help centre describes verification as a legal requirement: Gambling Commission rules oblige it to verify each customer's name, age and address, a process it calls Know Your Customer, or KYC. Once that is done, Coral says your account is fully activated and withdrawals are available. Until it is done, you cannot play, deposit or withdraw.
The underlying rule dates from 7 May 2019. Before then, online operators had 72 hours to finish age checks, which meant some people could gamble before being confirmed as adults. The Commission's guide to age and ID verification (opens in a new tab) sets out the current position, including free-to-play games, which also sit behind the check. Our explainer on KYC checks at online casinos covers the wider framework, including anti-money-laundering duties.
Automatic checks first, documents if needed
Licensed operators normally start with electronic checks against databases such as credit reference agencies and the electoral roll, using the name, address and date of birth you entered. If those sources agree, you are verified without uploading anything. If they don't, perhaps because you moved recently, registered under a shortened name or have a thin credit file, Coral asks for documents.
An electronic identity check of this kind is a lookup, not a credit application, and it is a different thing from the source of funds checks that higher-spending customers can face later. Our guide on why casinos ask for documents explains the different triggers in plain terms.
Coral verification documents: accepted photo ID
Coral's troubleshooting page says any government-issued ID showing your first name, last name, date of birth and a photo is acceptable. In more detail:

The two rejection reasons Coral names are an ID that doesn't clearly show your full name, date of birth and photo, and an ID card or licence sent without both sides. Fix both before you upload and most delays disappear.
Proof of address for Coral, with date limits
If your driving licence shows your current address, it can cover both identity and address. Otherwise you send valid ID plus one document from the list below, issued in your name to the address on your Coral account. Online statements and bills are fine if they are legible, show your full name and address, and fall inside the date limit.

A worked example of the date rule: if you upload on 20 October 2026, a bank statement dated 15 July 2026 fits inside three months, but one from 10 July 2026 does not. A Council Tax bill dated April 2026 would be fine, since it falls within 12 months. More on what typically works is in our guide to proof of address for casinos.
How to send documents for Coral verification
Coral lists three routes and recommends the first if you can reach your account.
Take a clear photo of each document. Coral says no scanner is needed; a phone, digital camera or webcam image is fine if it is sharp.
Check every corner is visible and the name, date of birth and photo are readable. For cards and licences, photograph both sides.
Log in and use Coral's online uploader (recommended), or upload through the Coral Casino app on iOS or Android.
If you can't reach the uploader, email the images to the documents address published in Coral's help centre.
Wait for the review. Coral aims to process documents within 36 hours and will email you if there is a problem.
Once approved, deposit, play and withdraw as normal.
Coral says documents are protected by SSL encryption in transit, stored in a high-security data centre and seen only by the staff who verify them. Our Coral casino app page covers uploading from a phone.
How long Coral verification takes
There are two realistic paths. If the automatic checks pass, verification is effectively instant at sign-up. If documents are needed, Coral's target is 36 hours from upload. In calendar terms, documents sent at 9pm on a Monday would, on that target, be reviewed by 9am on Wednesday at the latest.
Delays usually come from preventable problems: a blurred photo, one side of a licence missing, an address document older than its limit, or an address that doesn't match the one on the account. Each rejected upload restarts the wait. Our question page on how long casino verification takes compares typical turnarounds across licensed sites.
The 36-hour figure is Coral's own published aim, not a regulatory deadline and not something we have timed.
Address changes, moving and name mismatches
Coral can only verify you at the address registered on your account. If you have moved, send proof of your new address with an instruction to update it. A bill in someone else's name at your new home won't work for you. If you move abroad, Coral's help centre says you must close the account and open a new one in your new country, and without a verifiable address you cannot hold an account at all.
Names need the same care. Your account, ID and payment methods should all show the same name. Coral's deposit rules say every payment method must be registered in your name, and adding a third-party method can lead to the account being frozen. The question of whether you can use someone else's card is answered in full elsewhere.
Why Coral may ask you to verify again
Being verified once does not end the matter. Coral states that it may ask for documents again because of routine checks required by legislation, and that failing to provide them leads to restrictions on deposits, betting and withdrawals. Common reasons for a fresh request include a change of address, a new payment method or a pattern of play that triggers an anti-money-laundering review.
Separately, since 28 February 2025, licensed operators must run a financial vulnerability check (opens in a new tab) using public records (such as bankruptcy or county court judgments) once a customer's net deposits pass £150 in a rolling 30 days. That check needs nothing from you. Credit-reference financial risk assessments were only piloted and are not live. Our page on affordability checks explains the difference.
Your rights during Coral verification
The Gambling Commission sets clear limits on how verification can be used against you. These apply to Coral as a licensed operator (LC International Limited, account 54743).
A business can't make proof of ID a condition of withdrawing if it could have asked for it earlier, except where the law requires it at that point.
Money can't be confiscated because you didn't log in or verify within a time limit.
You can withdraw without unreasonable delay, and you don't have to take your balance in instalments.
If you disagree with a decision, Coral's complaints process comes first, then a free independent ADR service.
Because Coral and Ladbrokes are run by the same licence holder, the verification approach is very similar: identity confirmed before play, documents uploaded through the account, routine re-checks possible. If you already know one brand's process, the other will feel familiar. The Ladbrokes verification page covers its specifics, and our general guide to casino verification documents compares the norms across the market.
After verification: Coral's welcome offer
Verification is the gate to Coral's welcome offer. For new players aged 18+, the offer (checked 5 October 2026, running to 1 February 2027) is: deposit with a qualifying method and bet £10 on slots to receive 100 free spins on selected games at 10p each, accepted within 48 hours and used within 7 days, with no wagering on winnings. Neteller, PayPal, Paysafe, Skrill, prepaid cards and certain debit cards are excluded. Terms apply.
Ladbrokes, also run by LC International Limited, offers new customers aged 18+ who play £10 on slots 50 free spins a day for 10 days, up to 500, at 10p each, claimed before 23:59 each day and valid 7 days, with no wagering. Coral and Ladbrokes are both run by LC International Limited (Entain). If you already hold an account with one Entain brand, you may not be able to open a new account with another; check the terms before signing up.

Frequently asked questions
How long does Coral verification take?
If Coral's automatic database checks confirm your name, age and address, verification is effectively instant at sign-up. If documents are needed, Coral aims to review them within 36 hours of upload. Delays usually come from blurry images, a missing side of an ID card or licence, or address proof outside its date limit, each of which means a fresh upload. Until you are verified, you cannot deposit, play or withdraw. The guide on why casinos ask for documents explains the common triggers.
What documents does Coral accept for verification?
For identity, Coral accepts government-issued photo ID showing your name, date of birth and photo: a passport photo page, a photocard or provisional driving licence, or a national ID card (both sides). An expired passport works with a birth certificate. For address, you can use a bank statement, utility bill, catalogue statement or payslip from the last 3 months, or a Council Tax bill, tenancy agreement or insurance certificate from the last 12 months. Our casino verification documents guide compares the norms.
Can I play at Coral before I'm verified?
No. Coral's help centre states that you cannot play, deposit or withdraw until your name, age and address are verified. That reflects a UK rule in force since 7 May 2019, which requires online operators to confirm age and identity before anyone gambles, including with bonus funds or free bets, and before free-to-play demo games. Before 2019, operators had 72 hours to finish the checks. Our page on casino age verification explains the rule and its background.
Why has Coral asked for documents again?
Coral says it may request documents again because of routine checks required by global, EU and domestic legislation, even if you were verified before. Typical triggers are an address change, a new payment method, or account activity that prompts an anti-money-laundering review. If you don't respond, deposits, bets and withdrawals are restricted until you do. Reply through the uploader or app with clear, in-date documents. Our question page on why casinos ask for bank statements covers the bigger requests.
Does Coral accept a provisional driving licence?
Yes. Coral's verification troubleshooting page lists provisional driving licences among acceptable ID, alongside full photocard licences, passports and national ID cards. Send clear photos of both the front and back. If the address on the licence matches the one on your account, it may also cover proof of address; if not, add a recent bank statement or utility bill. A non-UK licence can confirm name and age but not address. See why casinos ask for proof of address.
How do I upload documents to Coral?
Coral recommends its online uploader inside your account. You can also upload through the Coral Casino apps on iOS and Android, or email the images to the documents address given in Coral's help centre. Photos from a phone or webcam are fine as long as they are sharp, show all four corners and include both sides of cards. Coral says uploads are encrypted in transit and seen only by verification staff. Our Coral customer service page covers contact routes if an upload fails.
Can Coral ask for ID when I withdraw?
Coral should already have verified you before you could deposit or play, so a well-run account should not meet a surprise ID demand at withdrawal. Gambling Commission guidance says a business cannot make ID a condition of withdrawing if it could have asked earlier, unless the law requires it at that point, for example for anti-money-laundering reasons. Routine re-checks are still allowed. If a payout is held, our Coral withdrawal time page explains normal timings so you can tell what is unusual.
Is it safe to send ID to Coral?
Coral is licensed by the Gambling Commission through LC International Limited (account 54743), and its help centre says documents are protected with SSL encryption once they leave your device, stored in a high-security data centre and accessible only to verification staff. As with any company, send documents only through Coral's own uploader, app or published address, never to an address in an unexpected email. Our guide to casino data privacy explains your rights over that data.
Why was my Coral proof of address rejected?
The usual reasons are a document older than its date limit, a name or address that doesn't match your Coral account, an illegible image, or a bill in someone else's name. Coral only verifies at the address registered on the account, so if you have moved, update the address first. Bank and utility documents must be within 3 months; Council Tax, tenancy and insurance documents within 12 months. Our guide to proof of address for casinos has practical tips.
Does Coral run credit checks during verification?
Identity checks usually match your details against databases such as credit reference agencies and the electoral roll, but they confirm who you are rather than assess borrowing. Separately, since 28 February 2025, operators must run a public-record financial vulnerability check once net deposits exceed £150 in a rolling 30 days. Fuller credit-based financial risk assessments were piloted but are not live, and the Commission calls 'affordability checks' an inaccurate term. See why a casino might want your payslips.
