Ladbrokes jackpots are prizes attached to certain slots and games in its lobby, ranging from fixed top prizes to progressive pots that grow with every stake. This guide explains how each kind of jackpot works at a UK casino like Ladbrokes, what the odds and RTP really mean, which UK rules apply, and how a large win is checked and paid.
Jackpots come in four main types: fixed, progressive (standalone or network) and must-drop; the game’s info screen says which applies.
Jackpot slots usually set aside part of the RTP for the jackpot, so the base game returns less.
Stake limits still apply: £5 per spin for players 25+, £2 for 18–24s, even on jackpot games.
Ladbrokes charges no withdrawal fees and UK gambling winnings aren’t taxed, but large payouts can take longer to clear.

What are Ladbrokes jackpots?
A jackpot is a prize above a game’s normal paytable, usually triggered by a special symbol combination or a bonus wheel. At Ladbrokes, as at most large UK casinos, jackpot games sit in their own lobby category, and many slots carry a jackpot ticker showing the current prize. The range of jackpot games changes, so we don’t name specific titles; the lobby shows what is live today. For the wider brand picture, see the Ladbrokes Casino hub.
The word covers several different mechanics, and the differences matter: they affect how often a jackpot pays, how big it can get and how much of your stake goes towards it. Our progressive jackpots explained guide goes deeper on the maths; this page focuses on what you will meet in the Ladbrokes lobby and what happens if you win.

Many games combine types, for example a fixed mini and minor prize alongside a progressive major. The glossary entries for fixed jackpot, must-drop jackpot and jackpot network give short definitions.
Must-drop jackpots in practice
A must-drop jackpot has a deadline, such as dropping before midnight or before reaching a stated amount. The deadline guarantees the prize pays someone, not you: thousands of players may be contributing. A rising pot near its limit doesn’t make your own spin any more likely to win it in a meaningful way, because your share of the total spins stays tiny.
How to check how a Ladbrokes jackpot works
Every jackpot game explains its rules in the help or info screen. Read it before playing, because it answers the questions that matter most.
Open the game from the Ladbrokes jackpots or slots lobby.
Tap the info, menu or ‘i’ icon and open the rules.
Find the jackpot section: is it fixed, progressive, network or must-drop?
Check whether the jackpot chance depends on your stake size.
Note the RTP, and whether a separate figure is given for the jackpot contribution.
Look for any minimum stake needed to be eligible for the top prize.
Jackpot slots usually split their return to player into two parts: the base game and the jackpot contribution. If a slot’s total RTP is 94% and 2% of that feeds the jackpot, the base game returns 92% on average. The jackpot share is paid out only when someone wins it, which is rare, so in normal play you experience the lower base figure.

These figures are examples, not Ladbrokes games; check each game’s info screen for its own numbers. Studios rarely publish the exact odds of hitting a progressive jackpot, and the odds for a network jackpot can be very long. Our RTP explained and jackpot slots pages cover the trade-off in more detail.
Do bigger stakes improve Ladbrokes jackpot chances?
Sometimes, and the help screen tells you which. On some progressive slots the chance of triggering the jackpot rises in proportion to your stake; on others every eligible spin has the same chance. A few games require a minimum stake to qualify for the top prize at all. Fixed jackpots are usually a multiple of your stake, so a 10p spin wins a smaller fixed jackpot than a £1 spin.
Whatever the design, UK stake limits cap what you can bet: £5 per spin if you are 25 or over (since 9 April 2025) and £2 if you are 18 to 24 (since 21 May 2025). The Gambling Commission’s online slots stake limit guidance (opens in a new tab) applies to jackpot slots exactly as to other slots. Raising your stake to chase a jackpot raises your expected losses at the same rate. See do bigger bets win more.
What happens if you win a Ladbrokes jackpot
Jackpot wins are paid into your balance under the game’s rules, but large wins are routinely checked before money leaves the casino. Expect Ladbrokes to confirm your identity and possibly the source of your funds, and to review the game round. These checks are normal under UK anti-money-laundering rules. Our what happens when you hit a jackpot answer covers the process across UK casinos.
The win is credited to your balance once the round settles.
Ladbrokes may contact you or ask for documents; Ladbrokes verification explains what is usually asked for.
Request a withdrawal through the cashier. Once requested it can’t be cancelled, because reverse withdrawals have been banned since 31 October 2021.
The withdrawal goes through Ladbrokes’ internal review, then to your payment method.
The money arrives in your account; there is no UK tax on gambling winnings.
A casino can’t confiscate your money because you didn’t verify your identity within a time limit, and it can’t demand ID at withdrawal that it could reasonably have asked for earlier. See the Commission’s page on what to do if you can’t withdraw your winnings (opens in a new tab).
How Ladbrokes pays out a large jackpot
Ladbrokes’ help centre says withdrawals pass an internal approval stage and then take from instantly to five banking days depending on the method. Its Visa Fast Funds page says card payouts are typically approved in a couple of hours and reach the bank within about four hours, but that amounts above £2,000 can take longer. Ladbrokes charges no withdrawal fees.
Ladbrokes payout routes for larger wins (help centre, checked 5 October 2026)
No. Gambling winnings aren’t taxed for UK players, whatever the size of the win. The tax that does exist falls on the operator: remote gaming duty, paid on the casino’s gross gambling profits, rose from 21% to 40% on 1 April 2026. Interest or investment income you later earn on the money can be taxable in the normal way. See gambling winnings tax and remote gaming duty for the detail.
Ladbrokes welcome spins and jackpot games
The Ladbrokes welcome offer (18+, new customers) gives 50 free spins a day for 10 days, up to 500 at 10p each, on selected slots after you deposit with an eligible method and spend £10 on slots. Daily batches must be claimed before 23:59, last 7 days and have no wagering. Whether any jackpot slots are among the selected games depends on the promotion at the time, and even where they are, a 10p spin’s jackpot chance may be lower on stake-weighted games. Read the terms on our Ladbrokes welcome bonus terms page.

Frequently asked questions
Does Ladbrokes have jackpot games?
Yes. Ladbrokes’ casino lobby includes slots with jackpot prizes, from fixed top prizes to progressive and must-drop jackpots, usually grouped in their own category. The range changes, so the lobby is the best place to see what is available today; we don’t name specific titles because they come and go. Each game’s help screen explains how its jackpot works. Our jackpot slots page explains the main formats.
How do Ladbrokes progressive jackpots work?
A small part of each stake on a progressive game feeds a prize pot that grows until someone wins it. On a standalone progressive, only stakes on that game at that casino count; on a network progressive, stakes from many casinos feed one shared pot, which is why network jackpots get larger and pay less often. The game’s rules show which kind it is. See progressive jackpots explained for the maths.
What is a must-drop jackpot at Ladbrokes?
It is a jackpot that has to pay out before a set time, such as midnight, or before reaching a stated amount. The deadline makes sure the prize is won by someone within the cycle, but it doesn’t make your own spin likely to win it, because many players are contributing at once. The game’s info screen shows the drop rules and any minimum stake. Our must-drop jackpot entry gives a short definition.
How long does Ladbrokes take to pay a jackpot?
Ladbrokes publishes withdrawal times by method rather than for jackpots specifically. After internal approval, money arrives anywhere from instantly to five banking days depending on the method. Visa Fast Funds payouts typically reach the bank within about four hours of approval, though amounts over £2,000 can take longer. Large wins often go through extra identity or source-of-funds checks first. See Ladbrokes withdrawal time for each method.
Do I pay tax on a Ladbrokes jackpot win?
No. Gambling winnings are not taxed for UK players, regardless of the amount. Operators pay remote gaming duty on their profits instead, and that rate rose from 21% to 40% on 1 April 2026. If you later earn interest or investment returns on the money, those can be taxable under normal rules. Our do I need to pay tax on casino winnings answer covers the detail.
What is the maximum bet on Ladbrokes jackpot slots?
The same as any online slot in Great Britain: £5 per spin for players aged 25 and over, and £2 per spin for players aged 18 to 24. The limits came into force on 9 April 2025 and 21 May 2025. Some jackpot games also set a minimum stake for eligibility for the top prize, which will always sit within those caps. The £2 slot stake limit page explains how the age-based limit works.
Why does Ladbrokes check my identity after a jackpot win?
UK-licensed casinos must meet anti-money-laundering and fairness obligations, so large wins are routinely reviewed before payment. Ladbrokes may confirm your identity, check the game round and, in some cases, ask about the source of the funds you played with. A casino can’t confiscate winnings because you didn’t verify within a time limit, and shouldn’t ask for ID at withdrawal that it could have requested earlier. See why casinos ask for documents.
Can I use Ladbrokes free spins on jackpot slots?
Only if a jackpot slot is among the selected games named in the promotion when you claim each batch. The welcome spins are for selected slots, worth 10p each, with no wagering on winnings, and the list can change. Even on an eligible jackpot game, a 10p spin may have a smaller jackpot chance where the game weights it by stake. 18+, terms apply. See Ladbrokes free spins for the full schedule.
Is a jackpot more likely when the prize is very high?
No. On a standard progressive jackpot, the chance of triggering it on any spin is fixed by the game’s design and doesn’t increase as the pot grows. The only format with a built-in deadline is the must-drop jackpot, and even then your personal chance on a single spin stays small because many players share the cycle. Believing a jackpot is ‘due’ is a version of the gambler’s fallacy. See the gambler’s fallacy.
What should I do if a Ladbrokes jackpot isn’t paid?
Contact Ladbrokes customer service first, with the game name, time and amount, and keep any screenshots or messages. If the complaint isn’t resolved within eight weeks, Ladbrokes must offer referral to an approved alternative dispute resolution service, which is free to use. The Gambling Commission can’t settle individual disputes but does take reports about operators. Our how to complain to Ladbrokes page sets out each step.
