Quickspin casino games are video slots from a Stockholm studio, owned by Playtech since May 2016, that holds Gambling Commission account 38516. Best known for Big Bad Wolf and other fairy-tale themes, it has about 150 slots, and several publish returns above 96%. This guide covers the games, their figures, which RTP versions exist and how UK rules shape them.
Quickspin started in Stockholm in the early 2010s and has been part of Playtech since May 2016.
It holds Gambling Commission account 38516 and has offices in Sliema and Kyiv as well as Stockholm.
Big Bad Wolf publishes a 97.34% RTP, but several Quickspin games come in more than one RTP version.
UK versions run without autoplay or turbo and within the £5 and £2 stake caps.
Offers on this page are general slot offers, not Quickspin promotions. 18+, terms apply.

Quickspin: from Stockholm start-up to Playtech studio
Quickspin was set up in Stockholm in the early 2010s; reference listings give 2012 as the founding year. The trading company is Quickspin AB, and the studio has since added offices in Sliema, Malta and Kyiv, Ukraine. In May 2016 it was bought by Playtech, one of the largest gambling technology groups, and it has run as a studio inside that group ever since.
Ownership by Playtech has not turned Quickspin into a general supplier. Its catalogue of about 150 video slots is still built around storybook themes, careful animation and features that are easy to follow. More recently the studio added Quickspin Live, a live casino brand, so its name now appears in two parts of a lobby.
Playtech is a separate company with its own range; this page covers only games carrying the Quickspin brand. The parent company’s own site is at playtech.com (opens in a new tab).

Why the same Quickspin game can pay back differently
Sakura Fortune is the clearest example. One version publishes up to 96.58%, and another runs at around 90%. Both are the same game to look at; only the maths differs. The difference matters over a long run of play.
Take £100 staked in total, for example 250 spins at 40p. On average over a very long run, the 96.58% version would keep about £3.42 of that; the 90% version would keep about £10. In a single evening luck dominates, but across months of play the lower version costs roughly three times as much per pound staked. Our RTP range glossary entry explains why studios supply several settings, and the rules on displaying RTP cover what a UK casino must tell you.
Open the Quickspin game at your casino.
Tap the menu or information icon, usually shown as an i or three lines.
Find the theoretical return figure in the rules section.
Compare it with the figures above to see which version you have.
If it is lower than you would like, choose a different game; you cannot change the version yourself.
What makes Quickspin casino games recognisable
Fairy tales are the obvious thread. Big Bad Wolf retells the Three Little Pigs, with cascading reels and pig symbols that turn wild as wins chain together. Goldilocks and Dwarfs Gone Wild draw from the same shelf. Phoenix Sun and Sakura Fortune move to myth and Japanese folklore, but keep the same polished animation.
Mechanically, Quickspin tends to favour features you can see building: reels that add rows, wilds that stick, respins that lock symbols in place. Phoenix Sun grows from three to six rows, lifting the ways from 243 to 7,776. Sticky Bandits uses a tall 5x5 grid with 30 fixed lines. Volatility sits mostly in the medium to medium-high band, with Hot Sync the high-volatility exception in our records.
Those choices make the games approachable if you are new to video slots, and they are usually readable without a long trip through the help file. That does not change the underlying odds; every spin is still random and the house edge applies.
Quickspin’s UK licence and how to check it
Quickspin holds a Gambling Commission licence under account 38516, which allows it to supply gambling software to British operators. You can find the entry by searching the Commission’s register of gambling businesses (opens in a new tab) for the account number or for Quickspin AB.

UK rules that apply to Quickspin slots
Quickspin games at UK-licensed casinos follow the same design rules as every other slot. Since 31 October 2021 there has been no autoplay, a minimum of 2.5 seconds per spin, no turbo or slam-stop and no fanfare for a return equal to or below the stake. Those changes are summarised on our latest slot rules page.
Stake caps came later. Since 9 April 2025 the most anyone aged 25 or over can stake on one slot spin is £5, and since 21 May 2025 players aged 18 to 24 are limited to £2, according to the Commission’s stake limit guidance (opens in a new tab). On a 25-line game like Big Bad Wolf, a £2 total stake works out at 8p per line. Our pages on the £2 limit for under-25s and the autoplay ban explain the detail.
How to find Quickspin games at a UK casino
Lobbies differ, and our partner facts do not confirm which studios each casino stocks. The fastest route is to search for a title such as Big Bad Wolf. If the casino has a studio filter, Quickspin is normally listed under its own name rather than under Playtech. Demo versions are available only after you have logged in and passed age verification, a rule in place since May 2019.
Our casino lobby guide explains how search and filters usually work, and the online slots page gives a wider introduction.
Quickspin compared with other Nordic slot studios
Quickspin is the gentlest of the Swedish-founded studios on our site. ELK Studios builds more complex grids with higher volatility, while Yggdrasil leans on cinematic presentation and its own partner network. Just For The Win is another Swedish studio, distributed through Games Global. If you want a game you can understand in a minute or two, Quickspin’s catalogue is a sensible place to start; if you want maximum feature depth, the others go further.
Playing Quickspin slots within a budget
Medium volatility does not mean low cost. Treat any slot session as money spent on entertainment and assume you will lose it. A practical approach is to fix a session budget, divide it by your stake to see how many spins it buys, and stop when it is gone. £20 at 20p a spin is 100 spins, which at the minimum 2.5 seconds each is a little over four minutes of play. Our bankroll basics guide has more examples.

Frequently asked questions
Who owns Quickspin?
Quickspin has been owned by Playtech since May 2016. Playtech is a large gambling technology group with its own slots, jackpots and live casino products, but Quickspin continues to release games under its own name. The studio itself trades as Quickspin AB and is based in Stockholm, with further offices in Sliema, Malta and Kyiv, Ukraine. Ownership changes nothing about how a game pays: each title has its own published RTP. Our Playtech casino games page covers the parent company.
Is Quickspin licensed in the UK?
Yes. Quickspin holds a Gambling Commission licence under account 38516, which you can confirm by searching the Commission’s public register. That licence lets it supply games to British operators. You should still check the casino’s own licence, because the operator is the business that holds your money and handles complaints. Its account number should appear in the site footer. Our guide to checking a casino licence walks through the process in a couple of minutes.
What is the RTP of Big Bad Wolf?
Big Bad Wolf publishes an RTP of 97.34% in our verified records, among the highest in Quickspin’s catalogue, with medium volatility on five reels, three rows and 25 paylines. Over a very long run that means about £2.66 kept by the house for every £100 staked, though any single session can land far from that. Some casinos may run a different version, so check the figure in the game’s help screen. Our guide to high RTP slots explains how to use RTP sensibly.
Why does Sakura Fortune have two RTPs?
Quickspin supplies Sakura Fortune in more than one version: one returns up to 96.58% and another around 90%. The casino chooses which to install, and the game looks identical either way. Over a long run the lower version keeps roughly three times as much of each pound staked. The only way to know which you are playing is to read the game’s information screen. Our RTP range glossary entry explains why studios offer several settings and what UK display rules require.
What kind of games does Quickspin make?
Quickspin mainly makes video slots, about 150 of them on reference listings, plus a newer live casino brand called Quickspin Live. The slots are known for fairy-tale and folklore themes, polished animation and features that are easy to follow, such as cascading reels, sticky wilds and growing reels. Volatility is mostly medium to medium-high. You can compare this style with other formats on our video slots page, or browse other studios on the providers hub.
Can I play Quickspin slots for free in the UK?
You can play demo versions at UK casinos only after creating an account and passing age verification, a rule in place since May 2019. Demo play uses the same maths as the real game, so it is a reasonable way to see how features work before you stake money. Offers that include free spins always come with conditions, such as a qualifying deposit or slots stake. Our page on free demo game rules explains why the age check comes first.
Do Quickspin games have autoplay in the UK?
No. Autoplay has been banned on online slots offered to British players since 31 October 2021, and the ban was extended to other online casino games from 17 January 2025. Every Quickspin spin at a UK-licensed casino needs a separate press, takes at least 2.5 seconds and cannot be sped up with turbo or slam-stop. Versions supplied elsewhere may look different. See our slot autoplay ban page for why the Commission made the change.
Are Quickspin slots good for beginners?
Many players find them approachable, because the features are visual and the volatility is mostly medium or medium-high rather than extreme. That makes the games readable, not cheaper: the house edge applies and losses are likely over time. If you are new, start with small stakes, check the RTP in the help screen and set a budget before you play. Our online slots guide and our explainer on volatility are useful starting points.
What is Quickspin Live?
Quickspin Live is the studio’s live casino brand, listed in its reference material alongside the roughly 150 video slots. Live games are streamed from a studio with real dealers, and UK rules on game speed and display apply to them too: since 17 January 2025, non-slot online casino games have needed at least 5 seconds per game cycle. Availability varies by casino. Our live casino page explains how live games differ from slots.
How much can I stake on a Quickspin slot?
At a UK-licensed casino the maximum is £5 per spin if you are 25 or over, and £2 per spin if you are 18 to 24. The £5 cap started on 9 April 2025 and the £2 cap on 21 May 2025. Each game also has its own minimum and maximum, which may be lower. Any extra stake taken within a game cycle counts towards the cap. Our £5 slot stake limit page has worked examples.
