New low wagering casinos

New low wagering casinos used to stand out against 35x or 50x offers, but since 19 January 2026 no UK-licensed bonus can ask for more than 10x. We don't list unverified new sites; instead this page explains what low wagering means now, works through real pound examples, and shows which terms decide whether a bonus is worth taking.

Key takeaways

  • Since 19 January 2026, UK bonus wagering is capped at 10 times the bonus, so every licensed site is low wagering by old standards.
  • Two 10x offers can differ hugely: the time limit, max bet, eligible games and win caps decide how hard they are.
  • Expected cost of wagering is roughly the amount wagered × the house edge: £200 at 96% RTP costs about £8 on average.
  • The only lower option is no wagering at all, which Coral, Ladbrokes and PlayOJO offer on free spins. 18+, terms apply.

New low wagering casinos after the 10x cap

For years, new casinos used low wagering as their headline: 20x instead of the usual 35x, or 10x instead of 50x. That pitch lost most of its meaning on 19 January 2026, when the Gambling Commission capped bonus wagering at 10 times for every UK-licensed operator. A new site advertising 10x today is offering the legal maximum, not a special deal.

We don't list unverified new casinos on our new casinos hub, and the cap gives one more reason: wagering numbers no longer separate good offers from poor ones. What does separate them is the rest of the terms, which this page explains with worked examples. For how bonuses looked before the change, see casino bonuses before and after the 10x cap.

What the 10x wagering cap says, and when it started

The rule sits in the Commission's social responsibility code on rewards and bonuses. It limits wagering so a customer never has to play through bonus funds more than 10 times, and it bans offers that mix gambling products, such as betting on football to unlock casino spins. The Commission's own example, from its announcement that gambling promotions are to be safer and simpler (opens in a new tab): a £10 bonus with 50x wagering used to need £500 of play; at 10x it needs £100.

What counts as low wagering now

With 10x as the ceiling, it helps to think in bands. The table uses a £20 bonus to show how much play each band needs before bonus winnings can be withdrawn.

Wagering bands on a £20 bonus
WageringPlay neededHow it compares in 2026
0x (no wagering)£0: winnings paid as cashLowest possible
1x to 5x£20 to £100Genuinely low under the new rules
6x to 9x£120 to £180Below the cap
10x£200The legal maximum since 19 January 2026
Above 10xMore than £200Not allowed at UK-licensed casinos

So when a new site calls 10x low wagering, it's accurate by pre-2026 standards but tells you nothing about how it compares with other licensed casinos today. Our page on what a fair wagering requirement is looks at the question in more depth.

Six terms that matter more than the multiplier

Two offers at exactly 10x can be very different to complete. Check these before you deposit:

  • Time limit. A short window forces faster, bigger play; see bonus expiry.
  • Maximum bet. Casumo caps bets at £5 while a bonus is active; breaking a max bet rule can void winnings.
  • Eligible games and weighting. 10bet's bonus must be wagered on slots; table games often count for less or nothing (see game weighting).
  • Win cap. 10bet caps bonus winnings at £1,000; check for a maximum cash-out limit on any offer.
  • What's wagered. The code caps play-through of bonus funds; read carefully if a site's terms count the deposit too.
  • Payment exclusions. Some e-wallets and prepaid cards don't qualify, and the terms say so in advance.

Worked example: two 10x bonuses side by side

Casumo and 10bet both use 10x wagering, the maximum allowed. Here's how the same £20 first deposit plays out under each set of published terms (18+, new customers, terms apply).

10bet gives a bigger bonus for the same deposit but asks for twice the play in less than half the time. Casumo's smaller bonus is easier to finish at a relaxed pace. Neither is better for everyone; it depends on how much you planned to play anyway. See Casumo bonus terms and 10bet bonus terms for the full conditions.

How to work out what wagering really costs

Every bet carries the house edge, so wagering has an average cost. A simple estimate is: amount to wager × (100% − RTP). On slots with a published RTP of 96%, wagering £200 costs about £8 on average; at 94% RTP it's about £12. Your actual result will swing well above or below that, sometimes losing the whole bonus, but over many bonuses the average holds.

Compare that cost with the bonus. A £20 bonus with an £8 average cost has positive average value before any win cap, but the chance of losing the bonus before finishing is real, especially on high-volatility slots. Our how to calculate wagering guide and bonus value guide walk through more examples. Bonuses are a way to extend entertainment, not to make money.

Checking a new low wagering casino before you deposit

  1. Search the Gambling Commission register by the licence number in the footer and confirm the exact domain is Active.
  2. Open the bonus terms, not just the promotion page, and note the multiplier, what it applies to and the time limit.
  3. Find the max bet, eligible games, weighting and any cap on winnings.
  4. Check the payment exclusions against the method you plan to use.
  5. Confirm the offer doesn't require play on another product, such as a sports bet; that's been banned since 19 January 2026.
  6. Set a deposit limit at the prompt, then opt in to the offer exactly as the terms describe.

The mixed-product ban and new casino offers

The same January 2026 change stopped offers that combine products. A new site can't ask you to place a sports bet to unlock casino spins, or play bingo to release a slots bonus. It also can't change an incentive based on how long or how often you gamble. If you see an offer built that way at a UK-facing site, either the site isn't licensed or it's breaking the code. See the mixed-product promotions ban for examples.

Low wagering vs no wagering offers

If low wagering appeals, it's worth asking whether you need a deposit bonus at all. No-wagering free spins pay winnings as cash, so there's nothing to play through. Among our partners, Coral (bet £10 on slots, get 100 free spins), Ladbrokes (play £10 on slots, get up to 500 free spins) and PlayOJO (80 free spins on a £10 first deposit) all carry no wagering on spin winnings, 18+ and terms apply.

Advantages

  • Low wagering: bigger bonus balance to play with
  • Low wagering: works across many slots, within the rules
  • No wagering: winnings are cash straight away
  • No wagering: no max bet or play-through to track

Drawbacks

  • Low wagering: time limits and max bets to respect
  • Low wagering: win caps can limit the upside
  • No wagering: smaller face value, usually 10p spins
  • No wagering: fixed games and short expiry

Bonuses and keeping play affordable

A bonus with a time limit can nudge you to play more than you planned. Decide your budget first and only take an offer that fits it. UK casinos must prompt you to set a deposit limit before the first deposit (since 31 October 2025) and must stop bonus offers to customers showing strong signs of harm. If you're worried about your gambling, the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133 is free and open 24/7, and GAMSTOP (opens in a new tab) lets you exclude yourself from every UK-licensed online casino. Frequently asked questions

What is a low wagering casino?

A low wagering casino is one whose bonuses need relatively little play before winnings can be withdrawn. Since 19 January 2026, UK-licensed casinos can't ask for more than 10 times the bonus, so every licensed site meets the old definition. Today, low wagering more usefully means below 10x, and the lowest is no wagering, where winnings are paid as cash. Our guide to how wagering requirements work explains the basics.

What is the maximum wagering requirement in the UK?

Ten times the bonus. The Gambling Commission's rule, in force since 19 January 2026, means a customer must never have to play through bonus funds more than 10 times. On a £25 bonus that's £250 at most. The same change banned offers that mix gambling products. Any UK-facing offer above 10x is either from an unlicensed site or breaks the code. See the 10x wagering cap for dates and sources.

Are new low wagering casinos better than established ones?

Not because of wagering. Since the 10x cap applies to every licensed operator, a new site can't offer a meaningfully lower ceiling than an established one, only a lower figure below 10x or no wagering at all. What differs is the rest of the terms and the operator's track record. Weigh time limits, max bets, win caps and the licence holder's history. Our page on new vs established casinos sets out the trade-offs.

How do I calculate wagering on a 10x bonus?

Multiply the bonus by 10. A £10 bonus needs £100 of qualifying bets, a £25 bonus needs £250 and a £100 bonus needs £1,000. If table games count at a lower weighting, divide by that weighting: at 10%, £100 of required wagering would take £1,000 of roulette bets. Then check the time limit to see how much play per day that means. Our how to calculate wagering page has a step-by-step method.

Which is easier, Casumo's or 10bet's bonus?

On a £20 deposit, Casumo's is easier to complete and 10bet's is larger. Casumo gives a £10 bonus needing £100 of wagering within 7 days, with a £5 max bet. 10bet gives a £20 bonus needing £200 on slots within 3 days, with bonus winnings capped at £1,000. That's roughly £14 a day at Casumo against £67 a day at 10bet. Both are 18+ for new customers. See Casumo vs 10bet for a full comparison.

Does wagering apply to my deposit as well as the bonus?

The Commission's code limits play-through of bonus funds to 10 times. Our summaries of Casumo's and 10bet's terms state wagering on the bonus. Whether an operator may also attach conditions to the deposit isn't something we've confirmed in the code text, so read each offer's terms carefully and ask support if the wording isn't clear. Separately, the CMA's 2018 undertakings, which bind the firms named in them, include letting players withdraw their own money during bonus play. See casino bonus terms rules.

Is a 10x bonus worth taking?

It can be, if you'd play that much anyway and the terms fit your style. The average cost of wagering is roughly the amount wagered multiplied by the house edge, so £200 of slot play at 96% RTP costs about £8 on average against a £20 bonus. But results swing widely and many bonuses are lost before completion. If you only want a little play, no-wagering spins may suit better. Our bonus value guide shows the maths.

Can a new casino offer lower than 10x wagering?

Yes. The cap is a maximum, so any figure from 0x to 10x is allowed. Some offers use lower multipliers, and many free spins offers carry no wagering at all. What a new site can't do is exceed 10x or tie a casino bonus to play on sports or bingo. Lower multipliers sometimes come with shorter expiry or smaller bonuses, so compare the whole package. See low wagering casino bonus for examples. 18+, terms apply.

What happens if I break the max bet rule?

The casino may remove the bonus and any winnings made with it, as set out in its terms. Casumo, for example, sets a £5 maximum bet while a bonus is active. The UK online slot stake limits also apply on top: £5 per spin if you're 25 or over and £2 if you're 18 to 24. Check the bonus terms before raising stakes. Our guide to the max bet rule explains how casinos enforce it.

Why do bonuses have time limits?

Time limits let casinos close out bonuses and manage the cost of offers, and they're allowed as long as they're clear in the terms. The January 2026 change does stop incentives that change value depending on how long or how often you gamble. A shorter window means more play per day, so it matters as much as the multiplier: 10bet allows 3 days and Casumo 7 days. See bonus expiry explained for how expiry works.
