Mega Ball is Evolution’s live lottery-bingo hybrid: you buy numbered cards, 20 of 51 balls are drawn, and completed lines pay out, with one or two Mega Balls able to multiply a win by 5x to 100x. Below are the real line odds, card costs in pounds and the UK rules that apply, as checked on 20 October 2026.
Each round draws 20 balls from 51, so any single number has a 39.2% chance of appearing.
A specific line of five numbers completes in about 1 round in 152, which is why most cards pay nothing.
Buying more cards raises your spend in step; it doesn’t improve the return per pound.
Free spins in our partner offers can’t be used on Mega Ball. 18+, terms apply.

Mega Ball in one minute
Mega Ball borrows from bingo and the lottery. Before the draw you buy cards printed with numbers between 1 and 51. A live presenter then releases 20 balls from a drawing machine, the numbers are marked off your cards automatically, and any card that completes a line wins a multiple of its price. After the main draw, a Mega Ball is drawn with a random multiplier attached; if that number completes a line on one of your cards, the card’s payout is multiplied.
The game comes from Evolution, whose corporate site (opens in a new tab) lists it among its game shows. If you have played online bingo, the marking will feel familiar; the difference is that you play against a fixed paytable rather than other players, and there is no shared prize pot.
How a Mega Ball round works step by step
Choose a card value. It applies to every card you buy that round, and the minimum and maximum are set by the casino.
Buy cards using the 1, 10, 25 or 100 buttons. Each click adds that many cards, each printed with randomly chosen numbers.
When betting closes, 20 balls are drawn from 51. Your cards are marked automatically and lines in progress are highlighted.
A multiplier between 5x and 100x is generated on screen, then the Mega Ball number is drawn.
If the Mega Ball completes a line on any of your cards, that card’s win is multiplied. Some rounds have two Mega Balls; only the highest multiplier counts on any one card.
Wins are added to your balance and the next betting window opens.
You start every round yourself. Since 17 January 2025 UK rules require each game cycle on online casino products to be started individually, so there is no auto-buy that keeps purchasing cards for you.
Mega Ball odds: how often numbers and lines land
With 20 of 51 balls drawn, the chance that any one number appears is 20 ÷ 51, or 39.2%. Lines are much harder, because all five numbers on the line must be among the 20. The table shows the exact chance of matching a given number of the five numbers on one specific line.

Each card has several possible lines, so a card wins more often than 1 in 152; the help screen lists exactly which lines pay and how much. The key point is the near-miss. One of your lines will often be one number short, which feels close but is the most common way to lose. The Mega Ball helps only when it lands on that missing number: the chance that a specific line sits on four and the Mega Ball then fills it is about 0.21%, or roughly 1 in 485.
Mega Ball payouts and the 5x to 100x multiplier
Mega Ball pays according to how many lines a card completes. One line pays a small multiple of the card value and every additional line on the same card pays more, with the paytable shown in the game’s help screen. Because the paytable can differ between versions, we don’t quote fixed figures here.

As with other multiplier games, a big share of the return sits in rare outcomes. That makes Mega Ball high in volatility: long runs of small or no wins are normal.
How many Mega Ball cards should you buy?
More cards means more chances to complete a line, but you pay for every one, and each card carries the same built-in margin. Doubling your cards doubles both your spend and your expected loss. The return per pound stays the same.

The 5% edge in the table is a round number for illustration only. Check the RTP in the help screen at your casino and replace it; the shape of the maths is the same.
A practical way to set this up is to start from your budget. If you have £20 for an evening, 10 cards at 10p gives you 20 rounds; 100 cards at 10p gives you two. Our bankroll basics guide covers how to size stakes to a fixed budget.
Mega Ball RTP: where to find it
Evolution’s public game page doesn’t list an RTP figure, and casinos can run different configurations, so the reliable place to look is the information or help button inside the game at your casino. UK-licensed operators must make the rules and return information available to players. Our guide to reading casino game help screens shows where to find it.
Whatever the figure, it describes the very long run. RTP at, say, 95% means £95 back per £100 staked across millions of rounds, not £95 back from your own £100 tonight.
Live Mega Ball vs First Person Mega Ball
Evolution also offers First Person Mega Ball, a random-number-generator version without a presenter. It works the same way but runs on software rather than a physical ball machine, so rounds can be quicker. In the UK, non-slot RNG casino games must take at least 5 seconds per game cycle under rules in force since 17 January 2025, set out in the Commission’s Remote Technical Standards (opens in a new tab).
Advantages
Live version: real ball machine and presenter
First Person: no waiting for a studio schedule
Both: the same card and line logic
Drawbacks
First Person can lead to more rounds per hour, so more spend
Live version has longer gaps that can tempt larger card counts
Neither changes the odds of a line
See our overview of First Person games for how RNG versions of live titles differ.
Mega Ball myths and number-picking systems
Because you can see your cards, it is tempting to believe some numbers are better. They aren’t. Each ball has the same chance of being drawn, and every card’s numbers are chosen at random, so no card is luckier than another. Common ideas that don’t hold up:
Hot and cold numbers. Past draws don’t affect future ones; see the gambler’s fallacy.
Buying 200 cards to cover the board. Coverage raises spend in proportion; the edge on each card remains.
Waiting for a high multiplier round. The multiplier is generated after betting closes, so you can’t choose it.
Staking up after a near-miss. A line that was one away last round has no better chance next round; betting systems explained covers why progressions fail.
Mega Ball and UK gambling rules
Although it looks like bingo, Mega Ball is offered as a casino game under a remote casino licence. The rules that apply to it in Great Britain include:
Each round must be started by you, with no autoplay, since 17 January 2025.
Your session time and net position must be visible on screen.
The £5 and £2 per-spin slot stake limits do not apply, as Mega Ball isn’t a reel-based slot; the casino sets card value limits.
Any bonus used on the game can’t require wagering above 10 times the bonus, following the 10x cap in force since 19 January 2026.
A promotion can’t mix casino play with sports betting or bingo in a single offer, under the mixed-product ban.
If you prefer picking your own numbers, online keno is the nearest match; for a social game with a shared prize, try 90-ball bingo.
Keeping Mega Ball affordable
Fix a budget, a card count and an end time before you start, and use the casino’s deposit limit and time-out tools. If you want a longer break from every UK-licensed site at once, GAMSTOP (opens in a new tab) offers free self-exclusion; our GAMSTOP guide explains how it works. The National Gambling Helpline is free and open 24 hours a day on 0808 8020 133.

Frequently asked questions
How does Mega Ball work?
Mega Ball is a live lottery-style game from Evolution. You buy cards printed with numbers, then 20 balls are drawn from a machine holding 51. Numbers are marked off automatically and any completed line pays a multiple of the card value. After the draw, one or sometimes two Mega Balls are drawn with a multiplier between 5x and 100x, which boosts a card’s win if that number completes a line. You play against a fixed paytable, not other players. Our live game shows guide compares it with other studio formats.
What are the odds of winning Mega Ball?
Any single number has a 39.2% chance of being drawn, since 20 of 51 balls come out. A specific line of five numbers completes only about once in 152 rounds, although each card has several lines, so cards win more often than that. The exact paytable and RTP are in the game’s help screen. The house edge means you should expect to lose over time, however many cards you buy. Our explainer on understanding casino odds shows how to work these figures out yourself.
How many cards can I buy in Mega Ball?
Evolution’s game page says you can buy cards in clicks of 1, 10, 25 or 100, and quotes a maximum of 200 per round in one place and 400 in another, so the limit at your casino is the one shown on screen. All cards in a round share one card value. Remember that each extra card adds spend: 100 cards at 10p cost £10 a round. Setting a card count before you start helps keep a session within a gambling budget.
What is the Mega Ball multiplier?
The Mega Ball multiplier is a random value between 5x and 100x generated after the main 20-ball draw. A further ball, the Mega Ball, is then drawn. If its number completes a line on one of your cards, that card’s payout is multiplied by the value shown. Some rounds feature two Mega Balls; if both complete lines on the same card, only the higher multiplier applies. You can’t choose or predict it. Read more about multipliers in casino games.
Does buying more Mega Ball cards improve my chances?
It improves your chance of some win in a round but not your return per pound. Every card has the same built-in edge, so buying 100 cards instead of 10 multiplies your expected loss by ten along with your spend. If £1 a round across 10 cards fits your budget, moving to £10 a round gets you through the same budget ten times faster. The house edge explained guide sets out why coverage doesn’t beat the margin.
What is the RTP of Mega Ball?
Evolution’s public game page doesn’t publish an RTP, and casinos may run different versions, so the figure to trust is the one in the game’s help or information screen at your casino. Whatever it is, it will be below 100%, meaning the casino keeps a share of all money staked over the long run. A short session can finish well above or below that average. Our guide to checking RTP shows where UK casinos display it.
Is Mega Ball the same as bingo?
Not quite. In bingo you usually compete with other players for a prize and the draw continues until someone wins; in Mega Ball exactly 20 balls are drawn and every card is paid against a fixed paytable, so many players can win the same round. Mega Ball also adds the Mega Ball multiplier. It is offered under a casino licence rather than as a bingo game. For the traditional format, see our guide to online bingo in the UK.
Can I use free spins on Mega Ball?
Usually not. Free spins are tied to named slots, and the spins in our partner offers are for slots such as Big Bass Bonanza or Coral’s selected games, so they can’t be played on Mega Ball. Bonus money is more flexible, but terms often exclude live game shows or give them a low contribution to wagering. Since January 2026 wagering is capped at 10 times the bonus. Read the excluded-games list before opting in; our live casino bonus page shows where it usually sits in the terms. 18+, terms apply.
Is there a strategy for Mega Ball?
No strategy changes the odds. Balls are drawn at random, card numbers are random too, and the multiplier is generated after betting closes. What you can control is card value, card count and how long you play. A sensible approach is to choose a fixed cost per round that lets your budget last the session you want. Our gambling myths guide covers why number systems and hot numbers don’t work.
Is Mega Ball available on mobile?
Yes, at casinos whose live lobby carries it, Mega Ball streams in a mobile browser and in casino apps, with the cards shown in a scrollable view. Card marking is automatic, which helps on a small screen. A stable connection matters, because a dropped stream mid-round means watching the result afterwards rather than live; bets placed before the cut-off still stand. Our mobile casino guide covers data use and app versus browser play.
