Trustly vs PayPal casinos is really a choice between paying straight from your bank account and paying from a separate wallet. Trustly needs no extra account and is often bonus-eligible; PayPal adds a layer between you and the casino but is excluded from more welcome offers. Here is how they compare at UK sites, checked 20 October 2026.
Trustly moves money directly from your online bank; PayPal pays from a wallet you must open first.
Coral’s and Ladbrokes’ welcome offers exclude PayPal deposits; their own Pay by Bank service is not on those exclusion lists.
Casumo lists both Trustly and PayPal for deposits, and says PayPal withdrawals arrive instantly after approval.
Coral and Ladbrokes run their own Pay by Bank service; their help pages don’t name Trustly.
Neither method can carry credit card money to a casino licensed in Great Britain.

Trustly vs PayPal casinos: the quick verdict
If you want to claim a welcome offer and keep things simple, a bank payment such as Trustly usually has the edge: there is no wallet to open, and bank payments are excluded from fewer promotions than PayPal. If you value keeping your bank details away from the casino and want an account you can reuse across sites, PayPal is the stronger tool, provided your casino lists it and you accept that some offers won’t count it. Both are useful; they suit different priorities.
This page sits within our casino comparisons hub and complements the single-method pages on Trustly casinos and PayPal casinos. Everything partner-specific below comes from the casinos’ own help pages or the offer terms we checked on 5 October 2026.

How Trustly works at an online casino
Trustly is a Swedish payments company founded in 2008 that connects you to your own bank. At the casino cashier you pick Trustly, choose your bank, and approve the payment in your banking app or online banking. No card number changes hands and no separate Trustly balance exists: the money moves from your current account to the casino. It belongs to the family of open banking payments, which also covers the various instant bank transfer services.
Choose Trustly in the casino cashier and enter the amount.
Select your bank from the list shown.
Approve the payment in your banking app, using its normal security checks.
Return to the casino, where the deposit normally shows within moments.
For a withdrawal, request it in the cashier; once approved, it is paid to the bank account used for deposits.
Because the payment comes straight from a bank account, a Trustly deposit also tells the casino whose account paid, which can make identity checks smoother. It also means your bank statement shows the gambling transaction clearly, which some people prefer for keeping track.
How PayPal works at UK online casinos
PayPal works like any e-wallet. You open and verify an account, link a debit card or bank account, and pay the casino from PayPal. PayPal only works with gambling merchants it has approved, so it appears in fewer cashiers than debit cards; when it does appear, it is usually available for withdrawals as well. Whether using PayPal for gambling is lawful is a common question; our answer on whether PayPal can be used for gambling explains the position.
Coral’s and Ladbrokes’ help centres add a condition worth knowing: a PayPal withdrawal needs a PayPal deposit within the previous six months. If you last paid in with PayPal a year ago and have since used a debit card, the cashier will route your payout elsewhere. Our Coral PayPal page covers how that works at Coral.
Trustly, Pay by Bank and why the names get mixed up
Trustly is one brand of bank payment, not the only one. Several casinos run their own service under a generic name such as Pay by Bank, built with a different open banking provider. Coral and Ladbrokes fit that pattern. Both list Pay by Bank for deposits and withdrawals, with a £5 minimum deposit, and Coral’s Pay by Bank help page (opens in a new tab) explains it without naming Trustly. So you won’t find Trustly in their cashiers, but you will find a payment that works in a similar way.
For a Trustly vs PayPal decision, that distinction matters in two ways. First, if your favourite site lists Pay by Bank rather than Trustly, the comparison below still broadly applies. Second, bonus exclusion lists name methods individually, so read the brand names in the terms rather than assuming all bank payments are treated alike. Our page on pay by bank casinos and the pay by bank vs debit card comparison go deeper.

Bonus eligibility is the biggest practical difference. The table uses the partner offer terms checked on 5 October 2026. Every offer listed is for new customers aged 18 or over, with full terms applying.

Here is what that means with real numbers. Deposit £10 at Coral with PayPal and bet £10 on slots: no spins, because PayPal deposits don’t qualify. Deposit the same £10 with Pay by Bank and bet £10 on slots: the published terms would give 100 spins at 10p, which is £10 of spins to use within 7 days, with no wagering on winnings. The bet is identical; only the payment method changes the outcome. Our explainer on why PayPal can’t be used for a bonus gives the reasons operators cite.
Withdrawal speed: Trustly vs PayPal at UK casinos
Every casino withdrawal starts with the operator’s review. After approval, PayPal is typically very quick because the money moves between two online accounts, while bank payouts depend on the casino’s banking route. No UK rule sets a maximum processing time, so treat any figure as the casino’s own published estimate.

Casinos usually set minimums per method. Casumo states £10 for all payment methods, though its bonus needs £20. The Coral and Ladbrokes help centres publish £5 as the minimum for Pay by Bank and Google Pay, and say the general minimum shows in the cashier; both cap a single UK deposit at £2,000. 10bet does not publish a general minimum.
On fees, the two Entain brands state that they charge no withdrawal fees, and Casumo charges £3 on withdrawals under £10. Trustly payments come from your bank, so there is normally no wallet fee layer; PayPal may charge for things like currency conversion, so check its fee page if you play in another currency. A worked example: withdrawing £9 from Casumo costs £3, leaving £6, whichever method you choose; withdrawing £10 costs nothing. See casino payment fees for more.
Is Trustly or PayPal safer for casino payments?
Both are secure when used with a UK-licensed casino. Trustly relies on your bank’s own login and approval, so the security is your bank’s, and no card details are shared. PayPal keeps your bank and card details away from the casino entirely, adding a buffer if a casino account were ever compromised. Turn on two-factor sign-in for PayPal and for the casino.
The privacy trade-off runs the other way. A Trustly deposit shows the casino the name on your bank account; a PayPal deposit shows your PayPal account. Your bank sees both, because Trustly debits your account directly and PayPal top-ups come from your linked card or bank. If you want to stop gambling payments entirely, a bank gambling block is the more reliable tool; the Gambling Commission’s page on blocking gambling payments (opens in a new tab) lists banks that offer one, and our bank gambling blocks page explains how they work.
UK rules that shape Trustly and PayPal casino payments
Credit cards (since 14 April 2020): no credit card money for gambling, including money routed through a wallet. A PayPal account with a credit card attached must not use that card for casino payments; see the credit card ban.
Deposit limits (since 31 October 2025): you are prompted to set a financial limit before your first deposit; decreases apply immediately.
Financial vulnerability checks (since 28 February 2025): a public-record check runs once net deposits pass £150 in a rolling 30 days. Credit-reference assessments were only piloted and are not live.
Reverse withdrawals (banned since 31 October 2021): you can’t cancel a pending payout to keep playing.
Identity: casinos must verify you before you deposit and can’t demand ID at withdrawal that they could have requested earlier.

No partner runs an offer built specifically for Trustly or PayPal users. Casumo is the nearest match because its site names both as deposit methods. Its welcome offer, for new customers aged 18+ who opt in, is a 50% bonus up to £100 on a first deposit of at least £20; the bonus must be wagered 10x within 7 days, with a £5 maximum bet while it is active, and game, play and payment restrictions apply. A £60 deposit, for example, adds a £30 bonus with £300 of wagering. See the latest Casumo offer.
Coral is the bank-payment route: 18+ new players who deposit with a qualifying method and bet £10 or more on slots get 100 free spins at 10p each on selected games, to accept within 48 hours and use within 7 days, with no wagering on winnings. The offer runs from 1 October 2026 to 1 February 2027; PayPal deposits don’t qualify. Details are on the latest Coral offer page. Gambling costs money, so set a limit before you start.
Casumo is listed first because its site names both Trustly and PayPal as deposit methods. Coral follows for its own Pay by Bank service, which is not on its welcome offer exclusion list, unlike PayPal. 18+, T&Cs apply.

Frequently asked questions
Is Trustly or PayPal better for online casinos?
It depends on what you value. Trustly pays straight from your bank with no extra account and isn’t named on any exclusion list in our partners’ key terms, which makes it the better pick if you want a welcome offer. PayPal keeps your bank details away from the casino and, at Casumo, pays out instantly after approval compared with up to five days by bank. Check which your casino lists before deciding. Our PayPal casinos page explains PayPal in more depth.
Do Coral and Ladbrokes accept Trustly?
Their help centres don’t name Trustly. Instead, both run their own Pay by Bank service, which works in a similar way by letting you approve a payment in your banking app, with a published £5 minimum deposit. Pay by Bank is listed for both deposits and withdrawals at the two brands, and it is not on their welcome offer exclusion lists, unlike PayPal. Read the current terms before you deposit. Our pay by bank casinos guide covers how these services work.
Can I get a casino bonus if I deposit with PayPal?
At some casinos, but not at Coral or Ladbrokes, whose welcome offers exclude PayPal deposits under the terms checked on 5 October 2026. Casumo says payment restrictions apply, so read its full terms. The key terms we hold for 10bet and PlayOJO don’t name PayPal as excluded, but always confirm in the full terms before paying. If an offer excludes PayPal, a qualifying debit card or bank payment is usually accepted. Our PayPal casino bonus guide explains the pattern. 18+, terms apply.
How fast are PayPal casino withdrawals?
Usually fast once the casino approves them, but approval comes first. Casumo’s homepage says PayPal withdrawals arrive instantly after approval, and its policy allows up to three days for the approval decision. 10bet’s help centre puts e-wallets at up to two business days. Coral and Ladbrokes don’t publish a separate PayPal time, and both need a PayPal deposit in the last six months before paying out to PayPal. Our same day withdrawal casinos guide explains what can and can’t be promised.
Can I withdraw to Trustly?
It depends on the casino. Some cashiers pay withdrawals back to the bank account that made the Trustly deposit, while others use a separate bank transfer route. Casumo lists Trustly for deposits but does not publish whether Trustly is a withdrawal option, and its bank payouts are listed at up to five days. 10bet lists bank transfers at up to three business days. Check the withdrawal options in the cashier before your first deposit. Our Trustly casinos guide covers what to look for.
Is Trustly safe for gambling payments?
Yes, when you use it with a casino licensed by the Gambling Commission. You approve each payment in your own banking app or online banking, so the security checks are your bank’s, and no card details are typed into the casino. The casino receives the account holder’s name with the payment, which can help with verification. As with any method, check the casino’s licence first. Our open banking casino payments guide explains the technology in more detail.
Why can’t I use PayPal for some casino bonuses?
Casinos rarely give a full reason, but e-wallets, PayPal included, have long been linked with bonus abuse, such as one person running several accounts through different wallets. Restricting offers to cards and bank payments makes it easier to tie each bonus to one verified person. Whatever the motive, the terms decide eligibility, so a PayPal deposit at Coral or Ladbrokes won’t trigger their welcome spins. Our answer to why PayPal can’t be used for the bonus covers the detail.
Can I use a credit card with PayPal at a UK casino?
No. Since 14 April 2020, casinos licensed in Great Britain must not accept gambling payments by credit card, and that includes credit card money passed through a service such as PayPal. If your PayPal account has a credit card linked, make sure a debit card or bank account funds any casino payment. The same applies to Trustly, which pays from a bank current account rather than a card. Our page on the e-wallet credit card rule sets out the Commission’s wording.
Which shows on my bank statement, Trustly or PayPal?
Both leave a record, but in different ways. A Trustly deposit is debited straight from your bank account, so the casino payment appears on your statement. A PayPal deposit is paid from your PayPal balance, so your bank statement may show PayPal rather than the casino by name, depending on how the payment was funded. If keeping track of gambling spend matters to you, a direct bank payment is clearer. Our guide to setting a gambling budget suggests other ways to stay on top of spending.
Does Casumo accept Trustly and PayPal?
Yes, according to its own site. Casumo’s homepage FAQ lists Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, PayPal, Trustly, paysafecard, Skrill and Instant Banking for deposits, with a £10 minimum for all methods. For withdrawals it lists card, PayPal, bank, Apple Pay, Skrill, Neteller and MuchBetter, with PayPal paid instantly after approval and bank payouts taking up to five days. The welcome bonus needs a £20 deposit and payment restrictions apply. Our Casumo payment methods page tracks these details.
