A casino birthday bonus is a small reward some UK casinos send existing customers around their birthday, usually a handful of free spins or a bonus with its own terms. None of our five partners publishes a standard birthday offer, so this page explains how these rewards work under the 2026 rules and which current offers come closest.
A birthday bonus is a discretionary reward for existing customers, not a right, and most sites never publish a fixed one.
Since 19 January 2026 any wagering attached to it is capped at 10x the bonus.
You only receive marketing about it if you opted in to that product and channel (rule in force since 1 May 2025).
None of Coral, Ladbrokes, PlayOJO, Casumo or 10bet lists a birthday bonus in the terms checked on 5 October 2026.

What a casino birthday bonus actually is
A casino birthday bonus is a one-off promotion that an online casino gives to an existing account holder in the days around their date of birth. It sits in the same family as reload bonuses, daily free spins and other offers for existing customers: the casino is under no obligation to give it, it can change or stop it at any time, and it comes with its own terms.
The word "bonus" covers several quite different rewards. Before you get excited about a birthday message, it helps to know which kind it is, because the value and the conditions vary a lot.
Birthday free spins: a set number of spins on one or more named slots, each with a fixed value such as 10p. Winnings are either paid as cash or turned into bonus funds that need wagering.
Birthday bonus funds: a small amount of bonus money credited to your account, often with a wagering requirement and an expiry date.
Deposit-linked birthday match: a percentage top-up on a deposit you make in your birthday week, which is really a reload bonus with a birthday label and a qualifying deposit attached.
Loyalty points or a prize draw entry: common in loyalty programmes, where the birthday gift is extra points or a ticket rather than spins.
Personal gift from a VIP manager: only for customers in a high-value scheme, and subject to the stricter VIP rules in force since 31 October 2020.
Most casino birthday bonuses are modest. That is deliberate: the operator wants to say thank you and remind you the account exists, not to hand out large sums. Treat it like a small voucher with conditions, never as income.
Who qualifies for a birthday bonus at UK casinos
Eligibility for a birthday casino bonus is usually decided by the operator's own criteria, and those criteria are rarely published in full. In practice the following conditions tend to apply, and several of them flow directly from UK licence rules rather than marketing choices.
Common birthday bonus eligibility conditions and where they come from
Condition
Why it exists
What it means for you
Verified account with a confirmed date of birth
Age and identity must be verified before you can gamble, including with a bonus (since 7 May 2019)
Your birthday is the date the casino already checked at sign-up, so it cannot be changed later just to get a reward
Opted in to casino marketing
Since 1 May 2025, marketing needs your consent per product and per channel
If you said no to casino emails and texts, you may never hear about a birthday offer
Recent account activity
Operator's commercial choice
Dormant accounts are often left out; this is not a rule, so it varies
No markers of gambling harm
LCCP 3.4.3: marketing and new bonus take-up must stop where there are strong indicators of harm
A casino can lawfully withhold a birthday bonus if its checks flag concern
Not self-excluded or on a time-out
Self-exclusion and GAMSTOP rules
Excluded accounts receive no promotions at all
That last pair matters. A casino that sends a birthday offer to someone it has flagged as at risk would be breaking its licence conditions, so a missing birthday message is not necessarily a mistake. If you use deposit limits or a time-out, some operators also pause promotions until the break ends.
Casino birthday bonus at our five partner brands
We checked the published offer terms of all five partners on 5 October 2026. None of them lists a standard casino birthday bonus, and none promises one in its welcome terms. That does not prove no customer ever receives a birthday message; it means there is nothing published that you can rely on or plan around.

If a birthday reward is important to you, the honest approach is to look at each brand's ongoing promotions instead. We keep short guides to Coral promotions for existing customers, PlayOJO promotions and Casumo promotions. PlayOJO's signature OJOplus feature, which pays a small amount of money back on every game played, is a standing reward rather than a once-a-year gift.
Typical birthday bonus terms and how to read them
Because birthday offers are sent individually, the terms usually arrive in an email, a text, an in-app message or a pop-up when you log in. They should still link to full terms. These are the conditions to look for, in the order that tends to affect value most.
Claim window. Many birthday bonuses must be accepted within a few days. Missing the window simply means the offer lapses; nothing is owed.
Wagering. Since 19 January 2026 a casino cannot require you to play through bonus funds more than 10 times. Read our 10x wagering cap explainer for exactly what the rule covers.
Eligible games. Spins are tied to named slots. Bonus funds may exclude some games or count them at a reduced rate; see game weighting.
Maximum bet. Bonus funds usually come with a maximum stake per spin. Online slots also have a legal ceiling of £5 a spin, or £2 for players aged 18 to 24.
Expiry. Spins and bonus funds that are not used in time are removed. Our bonus expiry guide shows how short these windows can be.
Maximum win or cash-out. Some offers cap what you can withdraw from bonus winnings. A cap is lawful if it is clear, so check before you play.
The Gambling Commission requires incentive terms to be clear, transparent, fair and readily accessible. If a birthday offer arrives without a link to its terms, ask customer support for them before you accept it.
Birthday casino bonus maths: three worked examples
The headline of a birthday offer rarely tells you its value. Here is how three common formats work out in pounds, using round figures for clarity.
Example 1: 20 birthday spins at 10p, no wagering
Twenty spins at 10p each is £2 of total stake. On a slot with a 96% RTP, the long-run average return on £2 of play is about £1.92, but a single short session can land anywhere from nothing to several pounds. Because there is no wagering, whatever you win is cash you can withdraw.
Example 2: £10 birthday bonus with 10x wagering
A £10 bonus at the 10x maximum means £100 of bets before bonus winnings become withdrawable. At 96% RTP the expected cost of £100 of slot play is roughly £4, so the bonus is worth about £6 on average, before you factor in expiry or a maximum bet. Our wagering calculator runs this sum for any amount.
Example 3: 25% birthday match on a £40 deposit
A 25% match on £40 adds £10 of bonus. If the 10x wagering applies to the bonus only, you face £100 of play; the £40 deposit is your own money and remains withdrawable under the rules on withdrawing your own funds. The trap here is depositing more than you planned just because it is your birthday.
In each case the casino keeps a mathematical edge. The reward slightly softens that edge for one session; it does not remove it, and losses remain the most likely result over time.
UK rules that shape birthday casino offers in 2026
Birthday offers sit under the same rules as every other casino incentive. The biggest recent change is the Gambling Commission's package on promotions, announced in March 2025 and in force since 19 January 2026, which you can read in the Commission's announcement on safer, simpler gambling promotions (opens in a new tab).

A birthday bonus cannot grow because you keep playing longer
The mixed-product ban is worth spelling out. Before 2026, a combined sportsbook and casino might send a birthday message offering a free bet and casino spins together, or spins that unlocked only after a sports bet. That bundle is now banned under the mixed-product promotions rule, so expect birthday rewards to be tied to one product only. The wording of the code itself is in LCCP social responsibility code 5.1.1 (opens in a new tab).
For the wider picture, our latest bonus rules page tracks every promotion change with its start date.
How to make sure you see a birthday bonus if one exists
You cannot force a casino to give you a birthday bonus, but you can avoid missing one through simple admin. These steps take a few minutes and also tidy up your account safety.
Confirm your date of birth is correct in your account profile. If it is wrong, contact support, because it is part of your verified identity and only they can change it.
Open marketing preferences and decide, product by product and channel by channel, whether you want casino promotions at all. Opt in only to the channels you are happy to receive.
Turn on in-app messages or the inbox in your account, since some brands put personal offers there rather than in email.
When a birthday offer arrives, open the full terms and note the claim window, the games, the wagering multiple and the expiry.
Set or review a deposit limit before you claim anything, so a celebratory mood does not change your budget.
Accept the offer inside the casino itself, never through a link in a message you were not expecting.
This kind of reward can be a pleasant extra if you already play at that casino within a fixed budget. It becomes a problem if it nudges you to deposit, play for longer or return to an account you had stepped away from. Weigh it up honestly.
Advantages
Small amount of play without extra cost when the reward is spins with no wagering
Wagering, where it applies, is capped at 10x since January 2026
Single-product rule makes the conditions simpler than older bundles
Arrives at a casino you already know and have verified with
Drawbacks
Not guaranteed, not published and can be withdrawn at any time
Often short claim windows and expiry periods
Deposit-linked versions can tempt you to spend more than planned
Requires marketing opt-in, which brings other promotional messages too
If you are asking whether any bonus is worth the time, our answer to are free spins worth it applies just as well to birthday spins: small, conditional value, best treated as entertainment.
Birthday bonus scams and messages to ignore
Birthday offers are a favourite hook for phishing because they feel personal. Fraudsters send texts or emails saying a birthday bonus is waiting and asking you to "log in" through a link that leads to a copy of a real casino's page. Watch for these signs:
The message arrives from an unfamiliar number or an email address that does not match the casino's domain.
You are asked for your password, card details or a one-time code to "release" the bonus.
The offer is far larger than anything the casino normally gives, or has no terms at all.
It comes from a casino you have never joined, or one that does not appear on the Gambling Commission's register.
It pressures you to act within minutes.
Close the message and open the casino's app or website directly instead. Our guides to casino scams to avoid and casino account security explain how to report a fake message and lock down your login.
Other recurring rewards for existing casino customers
Because birthday bonuses are irregular, most of the value for existing players comes from ongoing promotions. These are the main types you will see at UK-licensed sites, each with its own page in our offers hub:
Cashback offers, which return a share of losses over a period, often as cash or as a low-wagering bonus.
VIP schemes, which since October 2020 must be run with affordability and harm checks before anyone is invited.
Prize draws and giveaways, sometimes with a free-entry route.
Refer-a-friend bonuses, paid when someone you invite signs up and meets the terms.
None of these is a reason to gamble more. If you notice you are playing to qualify for rewards rather than for fun, the safer gambling page lists free support, including the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133.
Closest current offers to a casino birthday bonus
Since no partner publishes a birthday offer, the offers below are welcome promotions for new customers. They are listed because they share the features people want from a birthday bonus: a small, clearly defined reward with low or no wagering. All are 18+ and terms apply; we last checked them on 5 October 2026.
PlayOJO: deposit at least £10 for the first time and get 80 free spins on Big Bass Bonanza at 10p each (£8 of spins). There is no wagering, so winnings are paid in cash. New UK customers only, excluding Northern Ireland, through the designated offer link, and it cannot be combined with other offers. See the PlayOJO welcome terms.
Casumo: opt in and deposit at least £20 for a 50% bonus up to £100. The bonus must be wagered 10x within 7 days, with a £5 maximum bet while it is active; game, play and payment restrictions apply.
Coral: deposit (certain payment types excluded) and bet £10 or more on slots between 1 October 2026 and 1 February 2027 to get 100 free spins at 10p on selected games. Accept within 48 hours and use within 7 days; there is no wagering on free spin winnings. PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, Paysafe, prepaid cards and certain debit cards do not qualify.
None of our partners advertises a birthday bonus, so these are the closest current alternatives: PlayOJO and Coral give spins with no wagering on the winnings, and Casumo's match bonus uses the 10x maximum. All are for new customers aged 18+ and terms apply.
Significant terms: 18+. New UK customers (excluding Northern Ireland). First deposit only. Minimum deposit £10. 80 free spins on Big Bass Bonanza, £0.10 each. Frequently asked questions
Do UK online casinos give birthday bonuses?
Some do, but it is entirely at the operator's discretion and few publish a fixed birthday offer. When one exists it is usually a small batch of free spins or bonus funds sent to verified existing customers who have opted in to casino marketing. None of our five partners lists a standard birthday bonus in the terms we checked on 5 October 2026. If you want regular rewards, look at a brand's ongoing promotions for existing customers instead, and always read the terms before accepting anything.
How do I claim a casino birthday bonus?
You claim it inside your casino account, usually from an offer message, the promotions page or a pop-up after logging in. Check the claim window first, because birthday offers often lapse within a few days, then read the games, wagering and expiry. Never claim through a link in an unexpected text or email; open the casino app directly. If you think you were eligible but saw nothing, check your marketing preferences, since May 2025 you must opt in to casino marketing separately. Our guide to claiming a bonus covers the general process.
Is a casino birthday bonus the same as cash?
No. It is a promotional reward with conditions, and gambling it still carries the house edge. Spins with no wagering come closest to cash because winnings are withdrawable, but each spin has a set value and most spins lose. Bonus funds usually carry wagering of up to 10x, and you must complete that before winnings can be withdrawn. Treat any birthday offer as a small amount of extra entertainment within your budget. Our page on how casinos make money on free spins explains why the operator still expects to come out ahead.
What wagering can a birthday bonus have in the UK?
Since 19 January 2026, no more than 10 times the bonus. The Gambling Commission's rule, part of LCCP social responsibility code 5.1.1, stops casinos asking you to play through bonus funds more than ten times. So a £10 birthday bonus can require at most £100 of bets before winnings are withdrawable. Free spins credited with no wagering have no play-through at all. Older birthday offers advertised at 35x or 50x are no longer allowed. For the full detail, including what counts towards the multiple, read our wagering requirement explainer.
Why didn't I get a birthday bonus from my casino?
The most common reason is marketing consent: since 1 May 2025 you opt in separately to casino promotions and to each channel, so a missing tick means no message. Other reasons include an inactive account, an incomplete verification, a deposit limit or time-out, or the casino simply not running birthday offers. Casinos must also stop offering new bonuses to customers showing strong signs of gambling harm. You are not entitled to a birthday bonus, so there is nothing to complain about if none arrives. Review your marketing preferences if you want to receive promotions.
Can I change my date of birth to get a birthday bonus sooner?
No. Your date of birth is part of the identity a UK casino must verify before you can deposit or gamble, a rule in force since May 2019. Giving a false date would breach the terms, could see the account closed and any bonus winnings voided, and could be treated as fraud. If your date of birth was entered wrongly, contact customer support with proof of identity so they can correct it. Our page on bonus abuse explains how casinos treat attempts to game promotion rules.
Can a birthday bonus include a free bet and casino spins together?
Not any more. Since 19 January 2026 the Gambling Commission has banned incentives that mix gambling products, so one promotion cannot combine sports betting with casino play, or require a bet on one product to unlock a reward on another. A brand that runs both a sportsbook and a casino can still send separate offers, each with its own terms, if you have opted in to marketing for both. The rule is explained on our mixed-product promotions page, including examples of what used to be common.
Do birthday free spins have a maximum win?
Sometimes. A casino may cap the amount you can win or withdraw from free spins, and that is lawful as long as the cap is shown clearly in the terms. Separately, every slot has its own maximum win as a multiple of the stake, so 10p spins on a game with a 2,100x top prize can pay at most £210 per spin. Read the offer terms for any cash-out cap before you play. Our maximum cash-out glossary entry explains the difference between the two limits.
Are birthday bonuses only for VIP players?
Not always, but larger or personalised birthday gifts are more common inside VIP schemes. Since 31 October 2020 UK casinos must check that a customer's spending is affordable and sustainable, and look for signs of harm, before offering VIP treatment, and a senior licence holder must oversee each scheme. Mass birthday offers sent to ordinary account holders are usually small spin bundles. If a VIP manager offers you a birthday gift, the same 10x wagering cap applies. Our VIP scheme rules page covers the checks in detail.
Is it safe to click a birthday bonus link in a text message?
It is safer not to. Fake birthday bonus texts are a known phishing tactic, using a link to a copy of a real casino's login page to capture your password or card details. Instead, open the casino's official app or type its address yourself, then look for the offer in your account. A genuine birthday bonus will be visible there. If a message asks for your password or a one-time code, it is a scam. Report it and read our guide to spotting a fake casino for more warning signs.
