A casino withdrawal pending status means the casino has received your request but has not yet approved and released the money. At UK casinos this review usually lasts from a few hours to about three days; if it runs past the operator's published time, there is normally a specific reason you can ask about and fix.
Pending is the casino's own review stage, before any bank or e-wallet transit time starts.
Since 31 October 2021 you cannot be offered the chance to cancel a pending withdrawal and keep playing.
Most long holds come from verification, payment-method checks, an active bonus or a large amount.
Chase once the published time has passed, complain formally if it stalls, and use ADR after eight weeks.
A casino cannot confiscate money because you did not verify within a set time.

What does casino withdrawal pending mean?
When you press Withdraw, the request goes into a queue for the casino's payments or risk team. Until someone (or an automated system) approves it, the cashier shows it as pending, sometimes labelled processing, in review or awaiting approval. During this stage the money has left your playable balance but has not left the casino.
Pending is not the same as slow transit. Once approved, the status changes and the payment method's own clock starts. Coral's and Ladbrokes' help centres make this distinction explicitly, saying their published method times are in addition to internal processing; see Ladbrokes' withdrawal timeframes page (opens in a new tab). Our guide to how long casino withdrawals take shows how the two stages add up.

How long should a withdrawal stay pending?
There is no legal maximum. The Gambling Commission says you should be able to withdraw without unreasonable delay, but leaves the exact time to operators, so the benchmark is what each casino publishes.

Coral / Ladbrokes
Internal review team signs off each payout; around two hours is typical before a Visa Fast Funds payment
Casumo

10bet
No separate review time; cards and e-wallets up to 2 business days and bank up to 3 overall

A worked example: you request £200 to a debit card at Casumo on Monday morning. The policy allows until Thursday morning for approval, and the card transit is up to two days after that, so the money could arrive anywhere from Monday afternoon to Saturday. If it is still pending on Thursday afternoon, the published window has passed and it is reasonable to ask why. Brand-specific help is on the Casumo withdrawal problems and Coral withdrawal problems pages.
Why is my casino withdrawal pending for so long?
Long holds nearly always have a cause the casino can name. The most common:
Verification not complete. If automatic checks could not confirm your identity or address, the payout waits for documents; see casino verification documents.
Payment-method check. A first payout to a card or e-wallet may need proof that it is yours.
Active or recent bonus. The team checks that wagering was completed and the maximum-bet rule was kept.
Large or unusual amount. Casumo, for example, adds extra checks above set payout thresholds; anti-money-laundering rules can lead to source of funds checks.
Safer gambling review. Under customer interaction rules, a pattern of rapid deposits can prompt contact before or during a payout.
Queue timing. Requests made late on a Friday or over a bank holiday may sit until the next working session.
A casino cannot use an ID request as a stalling tactic: it cannot make proof of identity a condition of withdrawal if it could have asked sooner (unless the law requires it at that point), and it cannot confiscate your money because you did not verify within a set time. These rights are on the Commission's page about being unable to withdraw winnings, and our page on know your customer rules explains the checks.
Can I cancel a pending withdrawal? The reverse withdrawal ban
No. Since 31 October 2021, remote operators must not give customers the option to cancel a withdrawal request. The Commission's reverse withdrawal ban (opens in a new tab) (technical standard RTS 14B) applies to every licensed online casino, and its guidance adds that operators should not offer to let you deposit those funds once a withdrawal is requested.
The rule exists because a long pending period used to be an opportunity: a Cancel button next to money you had decided to take home made it easy to play it away. Today the pending stage is purely administrative. If you notice that you are tempted to get the money back into play, that is worth pausing on; a time-out or a call to the free National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133 can help. More on the rule is on our reverse withdrawal ban page.
What to do when a casino withdrawal is pending: step by step
Check the casino's published review and method times, and note when your request was made.
Look in your inbox, spam folder and account messages for a document or information request.
Supply anything requested promptly, in clear colour images showing all four corners.
If the published time has passed with no request, contact live chat or email and ask for the specific reason and an expected date.
Keep a record: reference number, times, names and copies of messages.
If there is still no progress, raise a formal complaint using the casino's published complaints procedure.
If the complaint is not resolved within eight weeks, or you receive a final response you disagree with, take it to the casino's named ADR provider.

When to take each step if a withdrawal stays pending
If a withdrawal is declined, the money usually returns to your balance. Read the reason carefully before trying again; resubmitting without fixing it simply repeats the cycle. Typical reasons are a closed-loop mismatch, an unverified method, an amount under the minimum or a bonus term issue. Our answer on why a withdrawal was declined walks through each one. If the casino says winnings are void, ask for the exact term, then read what to do if a casino won't pay.
Approved but still not in your account
Once the casino shows a payout as approved or paid, any remaining delay sits with the payment provider. Card refunds can show as pending in your banking app before they settle; bank transfers move on working days; e-wallets are usually quickest. Compare the elapsed time with the method's published time. For quicker routes next time, see the ranking of fastest casino withdrawal methods.
Is money in a pending withdrawal safe?
Pending funds are still held by the casino, so they are covered by whatever fund protection level it states in its terms: not protected, medium or high. In the rare case of an operator failing, money in a pending withdrawal is treated like any other balance. That is one more reason to withdraw winnings you do not intend to play rather than leaving them in the account. Our pages on player funds protection and what happens when a casino closes explain the levels.

Frequently asked questions
How long can a casino keep my withdrawal pending?
There is no fixed legal limit, but a UK casino should not hold your money without good reason, and most publish their own review time. Casumo's policy says withdrawals are approved or denied within three days, while Coral's help centre puts the review for Visa Fast Funds payouts at typically a couple of hours. Once the published window has passed, ask support for the specific reason. If the hold continues without explanation, raise a formal complaint; after eight weeks you can go to a free ADR provider. The how long do casino withdrawals take guide compares published times.
Why does my casino withdrawal say pending?
Pending means the casino has received your request but has not yet approved it. During this stage it checks your identity, the payment method, any bonus activity and, for larger sums, anti-money-laundering or safer gambling indicators. Most requests clear within hours. A long pending status usually means the casino is waiting for something, often a document or a payment-method check, so look in your email and account messages first. Our page on why casinos ask for documents explains the reasons behind the requests.
Can I reverse a pending casino withdrawal?
No, not at a UK-licensed casino. Since 31 October 2021 operators must not give customers the option to cancel a withdrawal request, and should not offer to let you redeposit those funds. The rule was introduced because reversing a pending withdrawal made it easy to gamble away money you had decided to keep. If a site does offer a reverse button to British players, check its licence. Our answer to can you cancel a casino withdrawal covers what happens if you requested the wrong amount.
Is a pending withdrawal a sign the casino will not pay?
Not usually. A pending status is a normal part of every withdrawal at a licensed casino, and most clear within the published time. A long hold is more often about verification or a bonus check than a refusal. The warning signs are different: repeated document requests for things you have already supplied, a demand for ID that could have been asked for earlier, or no reason given at all. In those cases, complain formally. Our guide on what to do if a casino won't pay sets out the steps.
What should I say to support about a pending withdrawal?
Give the facts and ask a specific question. Include the date and time of the request, the amount, the method and any reference number, then ask which check the withdrawal is waiting for and what you need to provide. Ask for an expected completion date in writing. Keep the tone factual and save a copy of the chat or email, because it becomes evidence if you later complain. If the agent cannot answer, ask for the query to be escalated. The page on casino customer support lists the channels each type of question suits.
Can a casino ask for ID while a withdrawal is pending?
It can ask for information it genuinely needs, such as proof that a payment method is yours, but it should not make proof of identity a condition of withdrawal if it could have asked earlier. The Gambling Commission says ID checks should happen before you gamble, with an exception where the law requires a check at the point of withdrawal, for example anti-money-laundering rules on larger sums. A casino also cannot confiscate funds because you did not verify within a time limit. Our page on age verification rules explains when checks must happen.
Why is my withdrawal pending after a bonus?
Withdrawals after bonus play are often reviewed more closely to confirm that the wagering requirement was completed, that no bet exceeded the maximum allowed while the bonus was active, and that only eligible games were played. Under the 10x cap in force since 19 January 2026, a £10 bonus needs £100 of eligible play. If a term was broken, the casino may remove bonus winnings, but it must point to a clear, fair term. No-wagering offers avoid most of these checks. Our explainer on the maximum bet rule covers the most common issue.
My withdrawal was approved but has not arrived. Is it still pending?
Once a casino marks a withdrawal as approved or paid, it has left the casino, and any delay sits with your bank or e-wallet. Card refunds can take up to a couple of working days and bank transfers longer, while e-wallets and Visa Fast Funds are usually quicker. Some banking apps show incoming card refunds as pending before they settle. If the published method time has passed, ask the casino for the payment reference and then contact your bank. The ranking of fastest withdrawal methods shows typical method times.
Can I complain to the Gambling Commission about a pending withdrawal?
You can tell the Commission about a problem, but it does not resolve individual complaints or recover money for you. The correct route is to complain to the casino under its published procedure first. The casino has eight weeks to resolve it, and must then offer referral to a free alternative dispute resolution provider, such as IBAS. ADR providers must allow at least 12 months from the casino's final response to bring a dispute. Our guide to complaints and ADR and the explainer on IBAS cover each stage.
Does a pending withdrawal affect my deposit limit?
A pending withdrawal does not normally change a gross deposit limit, because that type of limit counts the money you put in, not what you take out. Some casinos also offer net limits, which subtract withdrawals; how a pending payout counts there depends on the operator's rules, so check its help pages. What you cannot do is cancel the withdrawal and put it back into play. If you are close to your limit and tempted to raise it, consider a pause instead. Gross and net limits are explained in deposit limit rules.
