Can I withdraw free spins winnings? Yes. With no-wagering spins, what you win lands as cash and can be withdrawn straight away; with wagering spins, the winnings arrive as bonus money that you must play through, at most 10 times since 19 January 2026, before they can be withdrawn. Normal withdrawal checks still apply either way.
No-wagering free spin winnings are cash and can be withdrawn like any other balance.
Wagering spins pay into a bonus balance; play it through (10x maximum) before withdrawing.
Withdrawing before wagering is complete usually cancels the bonus winnings.
Caps on winnings, expiry dates and the payment method can limit what you take out.
You don't pay tax on gambling winnings in the UK.

Can I withdraw free spins winnings? It depends on one word
The word is wagering. Look for it in the offer terms and you will know straight away what happens to your winnings.
No wagering: winnings are added to your cash balance when the spins finish. You can withdraw them, keep playing or do nothing.
Wagering of, say, 5x or 10x: winnings go into a bonus balance. You must stake that amount the stated number of times before it converts to cash.
Spins that are actually bonus funds: some offers call them bonus spins, with different rules again. See bonus spins vs free spins.
Either way, "free" spins come with a condition: a deposit, a stake or both. This answer is part of our casino questions hub, and it focuses on the money after the spins. For how spins themselves work, read free spins winnings explained.
Withdrawing no-wagering free spins winnings
This is the simple case, and three of our five partners' current welcome offers work this way. Take a 100-spin offer at 10p a spin: that is £10 of play. Say the spins return £8.60. That £8.60 appears as cash. If you have also got £10 left from your qualifying deposit, your withdrawable balance is £18.60.
From there, the usual withdrawal process applies. You choose an amount, pick a method (normally the one you deposited with, under the closed-loop policy most casinos use) and wait for approval. Our no wagering free spins page lists offers built this way.
Withdrawing free spins winnings that carry wagering
With wagering, the spin winnings become bonus money. Since the Gambling Commission's 10x wagering cap took effect on 19 January 2026, the requirement can't be more than ten times that bonus.

Caps on winnings deserve a mention. Some spin offers limit how much bonus winnings can convert, sometimes called a max cash-out. Offers without one are listed on our free spins no max win page. Expiry matters too: our free spins expiry guide covers the typical windows.
How to withdraw free spins winnings, step by step
Finish the spins. Winnings usually appear when the last spin ends.
Check where the money went: cash balance (no wagering) or bonus balance (wagering).
If there is wagering, complete it on eligible games within the time limit, keeping to the max bet.
Make sure your account is verified. Most UK casinos complete checks at sign-up.
Open the cashier, choose Withdraw and select the method you deposited with where possible.
Enter the amount, confirm, and keep the reference. You can't cancel the request to keep playing.
Wait for approval and payment. Times depend on the casino and method.
Once winnings are cash, they are your money and the Commission's withdrawal protections apply. Its page for players who can't withdraw their winnings (opens in a new tab) says you should be able to withdraw without unreasonable delay or restriction, and that a business can't confiscate money because you didn't verify your ID within a time limit.
ID at the end: a casino can't make proof of age or identity a condition of withdrawal if it could have asked earlier, unless the law requires the check at that point. See the Commission's age and ID verification guide (opens in a new tab).
No reverse withdrawals: since 31 October 2021 you can't be offered the option to cancel a withdrawal and gamble the money instead. More on our reverse withdrawal ban page.

Frequently asked questions
Are free spins winnings withdrawable straight away?
Yes, if the spins are no-wagering. Their winnings are added to your cash balance when the spins finish, and you can request a withdrawal under the casino's normal rules, including minimum amounts and payment method. If the spins carry wagering, the winnings are bonus funds and must be played through first, up to 10 times since 19 January 2026. The offer terms will say which applies. Our no wagering free spins page lists offers where winnings are cash from the start.
What happens if I withdraw before finishing the wagering?
Usually the bonus and any winnings made with it are cancelled, and you get back only your own cash balance. Casino terms commonly treat a withdrawal request during wagering as giving up the bonus. Check the terms before you request, as some casinos say so on the withdrawal screen. Since 31 October 2021 you also can't cancel a withdrawal to go back to playing. Read can I withdraw a casino bonus for the different cases.
Is there a limit on how much I can win from free spins?
Some offers cap the bonus winnings you can convert to cash, and anything above the cap is removed when the bonus completes. No-wagering spin offers often have no such cap, but always check. Separately, each slot has its own maximum win set by the game design, and casinos may have overall withdrawal limits per day or month. Our free spins no max win page lists offers without a cap on spin winnings.
Why are my free spins winnings in a bonus balance?
Because the offer has wagering attached, so the casino holds the winnings as bonus funds until the play-through is complete. The bonus area of your account normally shows how much is left to wager and the deadline. Under UK rules the requirement can't exceed 10 times the bonus. If you expected no-wagering spins, check the offer you actually claimed, as some casinos run more than one. Our free spins winnings explained guide covers both cases.
Do I need to verify my ID to withdraw free spins winnings?
Your identity should already be verified, because UK casinos must check age and identity before you can deposit or gamble, including with spins. A casino can't make ID a new condition of withdrawal if it could have asked earlier, unless the law requires it at that point, for example for anti-money-laundering checks. It also can't confiscate winnings because you missed a verification deadline. See our guide on casino verification for what documents are typically requested.
Will free spins winnings go back to PayPal?
Possibly, but check two things. First, many welcome offers exclude PayPal deposits from qualifying, including Coral's and Ladbrokes' current offers, so a PayPal deposit may not trigger the spins at all. Second, casinos usually pay withdrawals back to the method you deposited with. Coral and Ladbrokes, for example, pay to PayPal only if you have deposited with PayPal in the last six months. Read why can't I use PayPal for the bonus for the reasons behind exclusions.
How long does it take to withdraw free spins winnings?
As long as any other withdrawal at that casino. Coral and Ladbrokes say approval typically takes a couple of hours, then Visa Fast Funds payments typically arrive within 4 hours, while Fast Bank Transfer takes 2 to 4 business days. Casumo says it approves or denies within 3 days, and 10bet quotes up to 2 business days for cards and e-wallets. These are published figures, not promises. Compare more methods in how long casino withdrawals take.
Do I pay tax on free spins winnings in the UK?
No. UK players don't pay tax on gambling winnings, whether from free spins, bonuses or cash play. HMRC treats gambling as not being a trade for ordinary players, and the casino pays its own duties on profits instead. Remote Gaming Duty paid by operators rose from 21% to 40% on 1 April 2026, but that is not deducted from your winnings. The detail is in do I need to pay tax on casino winnings.
What if my free spins expire before I use them?
Unused spins normally lapse and can't be withdrawn or replaced, because their value only exists inside the game. Winnings already made from spins you did play are different: with no-wagering offers they are cash and stay in your balance. With wagering offers, an unfinished requirement at the deadline usually means the bonus winnings are removed. Coral's spins, for example, must be accepted within 48 hours and used within 7 days. Our free spins expiry guide lists typical windows.
What can I do if a casino won't release my free spins winnings?
Ask support in writing which term is blocking the withdrawal and request the evidence. If the answer doesn't satisfy you, use the casino's published complaints procedure; it has 8 weeks to resolve the complaint. After that you can go to its ADR provider, such as IBAS, free of charge. The Gambling Commission doesn't settle individual cases, but its rules on withdrawals back you up. Our guide on what to do if a casino won't pay sets out the full route.
