A slots welcome bonus is a new-customer offer you use on online slots, either as free spins on selected games or as bonus funds that must be wagered on slots. All five of our partners' current offers are slot-based, from Ladbrokes' up to 500 spins to Casumo's 50% match, and each is shaped by UK slot rules on stakes and spin speed.
All five partner welcome offers are slot-based; three pay spins with no wagering on winnings, two are matches with 10x wagering.
Slot stakes are capped at £5 a spin (£2 for 18 to 24-year-olds), and each spin takes at least 2.5 seconds, which sets how fast you can clear wagering.
Jackpot and some high-RTP slots are often excluded from bonus play; the terms list eligible games.
Ladbrokes gives the most spins per £10 (up to 500 at 10p), checked 5 October 2026.

What a slots welcome bonus is
A slots welcome bonus is the promotion a casino gives new customers to use on online slots. It can take two forms. The first is a bundle of free spins on one or more named slots, each spin with a fixed value. The second is a deposit match: bonus funds added to your balance that must be wagered, usually on slots, before winnings become withdrawable.
Most UK welcome offers are slot-based because slots are the most-played casino games online and because the operator can tie spins to specific titles. Table and live games are more often excluded from welcome bonuses or count at a reduced rate towards wagering. If you mainly play roulette or blackjack, our pages on the roulette bonus and live casino bonus are a better fit.

Free spins or bonus funds: two kinds of slots welcome bonus
The two shapes of slots welcome bonus suit different players. Spins are fixed and predictable; bonus funds are flexible but come with a play-through.
Advantages
Free spins: value known in advance (spins × spin value)
Free spins: no wagering at our three spin partners, so winnings are cash
Bonus funds: choose your own slots within the eligible list
Bonus funds: larger amounts for larger deposits
Drawbacks
Free spins: tied to selected games or a single slot
Free spins: fixed 10p stake, so wins are usually small
Bonus funds: 10x wagering and short deadlines (3 or 7 days)
Bonus funds: maximum bet while active, such as £5 at Casumo
Our free spins vs deposit bonus comparison puts numbers on both. As a rule of thumb, if you plan to spend about £10, a spins offer gives cleaner value; if you plan to deposit £100 or more, a match gives more play, at the cost of wagering.
How UK slot rules shape a slots welcome bonus
Slots in Great Britain have their own rulebook, and every rule applies while you are playing with a bonus. These are the ones that matter most; the 2021 design changes are listed in the Commission's summary of changes to its technical standards (opens in a new tab).

The stake limits are set out in the Commission's online slots stake limit guidance (opens in a new tab), which defines an online slot as a reel-based casino game. Our pages on the £5 slot stake limit and the autoplay ban explain each rule. Note that feature-buy options are not offered on slots at UK-licensed casinos, so you cannot use bonus funds to buy straight into a bonus round.
How long slot wagering takes: worked examples
The 2.5-second minimum spin time and the stake limits combine to set how long a match bonus takes to clear. These examples use the shortest possible time; real sessions take longer because of feature rounds, pauses and loading.
10bet: £25 bonus, 10x on slots in 3 days
Wagering is 10 × £25 = £250. At 50p a spin that is 500 spins, or at least about 21 minutes of spinning. At £1 a spin it is 250 spins, at least about 10 minutes. On a 96% RTP slot the expected cost of £250 of bets is about £10, leaving about £15 of average value from the bonus. Remember the 3-day deadline and the £1,000 cap on bonus winnings.
Casumo: £100 bonus, 10x in 7 days, £5 max bet
Depositing £200 brings the full £100 bonus and £1,000 of wagering. At £5 a spin, the most allowed, that is 200 spins; at 50p it is 2,000 spins, at least about 83 minutes. For an 18 to 24-year-old the £2 slot cap means at least 500 spins. The expected cost on a 96% RTP slot is about £40.
Choosing slots for a welcome bonus: RTP, volatility and exclusions
With a spins offer the casino chooses the game. With bonus funds you usually choose from an eligible list. Three things are worth checking before you play.
Eligibility. Bonus terms list eligible or excluded games. Progressive jackpot slots and some high-RTP titles are often excluded, and playing them with bonus funds can void winnings.
RTP. The help screen shows the return to player for the version you are playing; many slots exist in several RTP versions. Our guide on how to check slot RTP shows where to find it.
Volatility. High-volatility slots pay less often but can pay more when they do; low-volatility slots give steadier, smaller returns. With wagering to clear, lower volatility tends to keep your balance alive longer, though it does not change the expected cost.
For PlayOJO's offer the game is fixed: Big Bass Bonanza, by Pragmatic Play, with a published RTP of 96.71%, high volatility and a top win of 2,100x. See our slot volatility explainer for what that means in practice.
How to claim and use a slots welcome bonus
The same sequence works for all five partner offers, with one or two extra steps depending on whether it is a spins or a match offer.
Read the full terms, including eligible slots, payment exclusions and time limits.
Register and pass the age and identity check, then set a deposit limit when prompted.
For a match, opt in (Casumo) or choose the casino welcome bonus at sign-up (10bet) before depositing.
Deposit with an eligible method; Coral and Ladbrokes exclude PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, Paysafe and prepaid cards.
For Coral or Ladbrokes, place £10 or more of bets on slots to trigger the spins.
Accept or claim the spins in the offers area (Coral within 48 hours; Ladbrokes before 23:59 each day).
Play spins on the named games, or wager bonus funds on eligible slots within the maximum bet.
Withdraw cash winnings once any wagering is complete.
Once the welcome offer is used, slot-focused promotions for existing customers take over. These vary by brand and are never guaranteed. Common types include daily spins, slot tournaments with leaderboards, and money-back features such as PlayOJO's OJOplus. Since 19 January 2026 these too are limited to 10x wagering and a single product, under the Commission's rules for safer, simpler promotions (opens in a new tab).
Our latest slots offers page lists current partner slot promotions with their check dates. If slot play is taking more time or money than you planned, the safer gambling page explains limits, time-outs and free support, including the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best slots welcome bonus in the UK?
Among our partners, Ladbrokes gives the most spins for a £10 slots stake: 50 a day for 10 days, up to 500 at 10p, with no wagering. Coral gives 100 spins at 10p for the same stake, and PlayOJO gives 80 spins on Big Bass Bonanza on a £10 first deposit. For larger deposits, Casumo's 50% match up to £100 gives more bonus funds but needs 10x wagering in 7 days. Which is best depends on your budget and how you like to play. See our best free spins offers ranking. 18+, terms apply.
Can I use a slots welcome bonus on any slot?
Not usually. Free spins are tied to selected games, or a single slot such as Big Bass Bonanza at PlayOJO. Bonus funds can normally be used on a list of eligible slots, and terms often exclude progressive jackpot slots and some high-RTP titles. Playing an excluded game with bonus funds can void winnings. Check the eligible games list in the full terms before you start. Our answer on why some games are excluded from bonuses explains the casino's reasons.
How does the £5 stake limit affect slot bonuses?
It caps every spin at £5 for players aged 25 and over, and £2 for those aged 18 to 24, whether you are using cash or bonus funds. That limits how quickly you can clear wagering: a £1,000 requirement needs at least 200 spins at £5, or 500 at £2. Bonus terms may set a lower maximum bet too, such as £5 at Casumo with a bonus active. The limit has applied since 9 April 2025 (£5) and 21 May 2025 (£2). Our £2 slot stake limit page covers the under-25 rule.
Do slots welcome bonuses have wagering?
Some do, some do not. Ladbrokes, Coral and PlayOJO's spin offers carry no wagering on winnings. Casumo's 50% match and 10bet's 100% match require 10x wagering of the bonus, within 7 days and 3 days respectively. Since 19 January 2026, 10x is the most any UK-licensed casino can ask. A £25 bonus therefore needs at most £250 of bets. Our guide to how wagering requirements work shows how play is counted.
Can I play table games with a slots welcome bonus?
Generally not. 10bet requires its bonus to be wagered on slots, and Casumo says game restrictions apply. Free spins can only be played on the named slots. Where table games are allowed with bonus funds, they often count at a lower rate towards wagering. If you mainly play table games, look for an offer designed for them and check the game rules carefully. Our blackjack bonus page explains how table-game offers differ.
Why do slots take 2.5 seconds per spin in the UK?
Because of the Gambling Commission's game design rules, in force since 31 October 2021. Each slot game cycle must last at least 2.5 seconds, and features that speed up play, such as turbo spin, slam stop and autoplay, are banned. The changes were designed to slow the speed and intensity of online slot play. For bonus play, it means wagering takes a minimum amount of time: 500 spins need at least about 21 minutes. Read our page on the 2.5 second spin rule.
Is a slots welcome bonus worth claiming?
It can be, if the qualifying spend is money you would have spent on slots anyway and you choose an offer that fits your budget. No-wagering spins are the simplest, since winnings are cash. Match bonuses give more play but come with wagering, deadlines and maximum bets. Neither changes the slot's RTP, so losses remain the most likely outcome over time. Our welcome offer checklist helps you decide whether a particular offer suits you.
Can I buy a bonus round with slot bonus funds?
No. Slots at UK-licensed casinos do not offer feature buy or bonus buy options, so neither cash nor bonus funds can be used to jump straight into a slot's bonus round. Bonus rounds have to be triggered in normal play. Some players see feature buys in versions of slots marketed elsewhere, but these are not supplied to players in Great Britain. Our bonus buy page explains how games are supplied to the British market.
Do Ladbrokes free spins work on any slot?
No. The Ladbrokes welcome terms say the spins are for selected games. Each daily batch of 50 spins at 10p appears after you claim it before 23:59 and must be used on the listed slots within 7 days. Winnings have no wagering. The £10 qualifying spend must also be on slots. The game list can change, so check it in the offer details when you claim. Our Ladbrokes slots page covers the wider slot lobby.
What RTP do slots need to be for a good bonus?
There is no rule, but a higher RTP lowers the expected cost of wagering. On a 96% RTP slot, £250 of bets costs about £10 on average; on a 94% slot, about £15. Many slots come in several RTP versions, and the help screen shows the one you are playing. With free spins the game is chosen for you, so check its RTP before claiming. Big Bass Bonanza, used for PlayOJO's spins, publishes 96.71%. Our answer on what a good RTP is explains more.
